2025-06-09drm/i915: split out display register macros to a separate fileJani Nikula
This is a scripted split of the display related register macros from i915_reg.h to display/intel_display_regs.h. As a starting point, move all the macros that are only used in display code (or GVT). If there are users in core i915 code or soc/, or no users anywhere, keep the macros in i915_reg.h. This is done in groups of macros separated by blank lines, moving the comments along with the groups. Some manually picked macro groups are kept/moved regardless of the heuristics above. This is obviously a very crude approach. It's not perfect. But there are 4.2k lines in i915_reg.h, and its refactoring has ground to a halt. This is the big hammer that splits the file to two, and enables further cleanup. 2025-05-16drm/i915/dmc: Hook up PIPEDMC interruptsVille Syrjälä
Hook up PIPEDMC interrupts. We'll need these for: - flip queue signalling - GTT/ATS faults on LNL+ - unclaimed register access errors (supposedly that is what the error interrupt indicated according to Windows code). On LNL+ we get a new level of interrupts registers PIPEDMC_INTERRUPT*. On earlier platforms we only have the INT_VECTOR field in the PIPEDMC_STATUS registers, whose values are defined by the firmware. For now we'll enable the interrupts on LNL+ only. For earlier platforms it's not clear that there is any use for these interrupts, and some ADL machines have exhibited spurious DE_PIPE interrupts with the PIPEDMC interrupts unmasked/enabled. We can revisit enabling these for earlier platforms in the future. For some unknown reason LNL pipe B triggers the error interrupt during the first DC state transition (subsequent transitions are maybe OK?). No clear idea what's going on here yet, so keep the error interrupt disabled for now. 2025-05-16drm/i915/dmc: Drop PIPEDMC faults from the fault mask on LNL+Ville Syrjälä
On LNL+ PIPEDMC faults are reported via PIPEDMC interrupts instead of the direct DE_PIPE_* reporting used on earlier platforms. Drop the relevant bits from the fault mask. The bits are tied to zero on LNL, so there is no danger of spurious fault interrupts even with an incorrect mask. 2025-05-07drm/i915/irq: move i915->irq_lock to display->irq.lockJani Nikula
Observe that i915->irq_lock is no longer used to protect anything outside of display. Make it a display thing. This allows us to remove the ugly #define irq_lock irq.lock hack from xe compat header. Note that this is slightly more subtle than it first looks. For i915, there's no functional change here. The lock is moved. However, for xe, we'll now have *two* locks, xe->irq.lock and display->irq.lock. These should protect different things, though. Indeed, nesting in the past would've lead to a deadlock because they were the same lock. With the i915 references gone, we can make a handful more files independent of i915_drv.h. This patch is applying workaround for underrun on idle PSR HW issue (Wa_16025596647) when PSR is getting enabled. It uses vblank enable/disable status, DC5/6 enabled disabled and enabled pipes count information made available. Now that INTEL_PCH_TYPE() and HAS_PCH_*() macros are under display, and accept a struct intel_display pointer, use that instead of struct drm_i915_private pointer in display code. Move more display specific parts of GPU error logging behind the display snapshot interface. With the display register capture reduced to just one register, DERRMR, there's quite a bit of boilerplate here. However, it's still a nice abstraction and removes a DISPLAY_VER() usage from core i915. Hook up the display fault irq handlers for VLV/CHV. Unfortunately the actual hardware doesn't agree with the spec on how DPINVGTT should behave. The docs claim that the status bits can be cleared by writing '1' to them, but in reality there doesn't seem to be any way to clear them. So we must disable and ignore any fault we've already seen in the past. 2025-01-17drm/i915/display: Use display MMIO functions in intel_display_irq.cGustavo Sousa
Most of MMIO accesses from intel_display_irq.c are currently done via uncore_*() functions instead of the display-specific ones, namely intel_de_*(). Because of that, DMC wakelock ends up being ignored and some invalid MMIO accesses are performed while display is in dynamic DC states. Thus, update the display IRQ code to use the intel_de_*() MMIO functions. After this change, we are left with some IRQ-specific functions that still use the unwrapped uncore_*() functions (i.e. gen2_irq_init, gen3_irq_reset and gen2_assert_iir_is_zero). We will deal with them in an upcoming change. 2024-10-31drm/i915: Implement Dbuf overlap detection feature starting from LNLStanislav Lisovskiy
From LNL onwards there is a new hardware feature, which allows to detect if the driver wrongly allocated DBuf entries and they happen to overlap. If enabled this will cause a specific interrupt to occur. 2024-10-17drm/i915: Remove unused underrun irq/reporting bitsSai Teja Pottumuttu
Underrun recovery was defeatured and was never brought into usage. Thus we can remove the underrun recovery interrupt/reporting register bits and related logic introduced to detect/report soft, hard, port underruns. Essentially this is a revert of the commit 8bcc0840cf7c ("drm/i915/xelpd: Enhanced pipe underrun reporting") which originally added this functionality. Currently workaround is not applied when vblank is enabled on crtc that needs the workaround if vblank is already enabled for another crtc that doesn't need the workaround. Fix this by increasing counter only if crtc needs the workaround. 2024-10-03drm/i915: Apply the i915gm/i945gm irq C-state w/a to CRC interruptsVille Syrjälä
Turns out CRC interrupts also fail to wake up i915gm/i945gm from C2+. I suppose this is a generic problem, but for most other interrupts the system will be busy enough already prior to the irq being issued. But CRC interrupts are like vblank interrupts and only fire once per frame, so plenty of time to fall asleep in between them. Apply the same core clock gating trick to CRC interrupts that we use for vblank interrupts.
