2024-11-09perf dwarf-regs: Move x86 dwarf-regs out of archIan Rogers
Move arch/x86/util/dwarf-regs.c to util/dwarf-regs-x86.c and compile in unconditionally. To avoid get_arch_regnum being duplicated, rename to get_x86_regnum and add to get_dwarf_regnum switch. For get_arch_regstr, this was unused on x86 unless the machine type was EM_NONE. Map that case to EM_HOST and remove get_arch_regstr from dwarf-regs-x86.c. 2024-11-09perf dwarf-regs: Remove PERF_HAVE_ARCH_REGS_QUERY_REGISTER_OFFSETIan Rogers
PERF_HAVE_ARCH_REGS_QUERY_REGISTER_OFFSET was used for BPF prologue support which was removed in Commit 3d6dfae88917 ("perf parse-events: Remove BPF event support"). The code is no longer used so remove. Remove the offset from various dwarf-regs.c tables and the dependence on ptrace.h. Rename structs starting pt_ as the ptrace derived offset is now removed. 2023-12-23perf dwarf-regs: Add get_dwarf_regnum()Namhyung Kim
The get_dwarf_regnum() returns a DWARF register number from a register name string according to the psABI. Also add two pseudo encodings of DWARF_REG_PC which is a register that are used by PC-relative addressing and DWARF_REG_FB which is a frame base register. They need to be handled in a special way. 2015-09-15perf tools: Introduce regs_query_register_offset() for x86Wang Nan
regs_query_register_offset() is a helper function which converts register name like "%rax" to offset of a register in 'struct pt_regs', which is required by BPF prologue generator. Since the function is identical, try to reuse the code in arch/x86/kernel/ptrace.c. Comment inside dwarf-regs.c list the differences between this implementation and kernel code. get_arch_regstr() switches to regoffset_table and the old string table is dropped. 2015-09-01perf dwarf: Fix potential array out of bounds accessWang Nan
There is a problem in the dwarf-regs.c files for sh, sparc and x86 where it is possible to make an out-of-bounds array access when searching for register names. This patch fixes it by replacing '<=' to '<', so when register (number == XXX_MAX_REGS), get_arch_regstr() will return NULL. 2013-03-15perf tools: Fix build on non-glibc systems due to libio.h absenceCody P Schafer
Including libio.h causes build failures on uClibc systems (which lack libio.h). It appears that libio.h was only included to pull in a definition for NULL, so it has been replaced by stddef.h. On powerpc, libio.h was conditionally included, but could be removed completely as it is unneeded. Also, the included of stdlib.h was changed to stddef.h (as again, only NULL is needed). 2010-04-22perf: Move arch specific code into separate arch directoryIan Munsie
The perf userspace tool included some architecture specific code to map registers from the DWARF register number into the names used by the regs and stack access API. This moves the architecture specific code out into a separate arch/x86 directory along with the infrastructure required to use it.
