2025-06-24pinctrl: sunxi: Fix memory leak on krealloc failureYuan Chen
In sunxi_pctrl_dt_node_to_map(), when krealloc() fails to resize the pinctrl_map array, the function returns -ENOMEM directly without freeing the previously allocated *map buffer. This results in a memory leak of the original kmalloc_array allocation. 2025-05-16pinctrl: Switch to irq_domain_create_*()Jiri Slaby (SUSE)
irq_domain_add_*() interfaces are going away as being obsolete now. Switch to the preferred irq_domain_create_*() ones. Those differ in the node parameter: They take more generic struct fwnode_handle instead of struct device_node. Therefore, of_fwnode_handle() is added around the original parameter. Note some of the users can likely use dev->fwnode directly instead of indirect of_fwnode_handle(dev->of_node). But dev->fwnode is not guaranteed to be set for all, so this has to be investigated on case to case basis (by people who can actually test with the HW). 2025-03-13pinctrl: sunxi: support moved power configuration registersAndre Przywara
The Allwinner pincontroller IP features some registers to control the withstand voltage of each pin group. So far those registers were always located at the same offset, but the A523 SoC has moved them (probably to accommodate all eleven pin banks). Add a flag to note this feature, and use that to program the registers either at offset 0x340 or 0x380. So far no pincontroller driver uses this flag, but we need it for the upcoming A523 support. 2025-03-13pinctrl: sunxi: move bank K register offsetAndre Przywara
The Allwinner pincontroller register layout used to allow for at least 11 banks per controller, any more banks would reside at a second controller instance. When the per-bank register map size was increased with the D1, it turned out that the last bank (port K) of those maximum 11 banks actually would not fit anymore in the 512 bytes reserved for the pincontroller registers. On new SoCs Allwinner thus moved the last bank beyond the existing registers, at offset 0x500. So far SoCs never used more than 9 banks per controller, but the new Allwinner A523 actually uses all 11 banks. Since that SoC also uses the extended layout, its PortK needs to be programmed at offset 0x500. Factor out the bank offset calculation into a new function, and handle the case for the last bank separately. Since none of the older SoCs ever used PortK, we can ignore this case, and just always use offset 0x500 for the last bank. 2025-03-13pinctrl: sunxi: refactor pinctrl variants into flagsAndre Przywara
For some Allwinner SoCs we have one pinctrl driver caring for multiple very similar chips, and are tagging certain pins with a variant bitmask. The Allwinner D1 introduced a slightly extended register layout, and we were abusing this variant mask to convey this bit of information into the common code part. Now there will be more pinctrl device properties to consider (has PortF voltage switch, for instance), so shoehorning this into the variant bitmask will not fly anymore. Refactor the "variant" field into a more generic "flags" field. It turns out that we don't need the variant bits to be unique across all SoCs, but only among those SoCs that share one driver (table), of which there are at most three variants at the moment. So the actual variant field can be limited to say 8 bits, and the other bits in the flag register can be re-purposed to hold other information, like this extended register layout. As a side effect we can move the variant definition into the per-SoC pinctrl driver file, which makes it more obvious that this is just a private definition, only relevant for this particular table. This also changes the artificial sun20i-d1 "variant" into the actual flag bit that we are after. 2023-07-20pinctrl: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-07-20pinctrl: sunxi: Add some defensiveness for regulators arrayMark Brown
The sunxi pinctrl has a fixed size array it uses to store regulators used in the driver. There is currently nothing that ensures that the number of elements in the array is large enough to map the regulators defined by the individual SoCs. While this is currently the case having an explicit check in there will make life easier for anyone debugging memory issues that manifest in the driver so let's add one. This SoC contains a pinctrl with a new register layout. Use the variant parameter to set the right register offsets. This pinctrl also increases the number of functions per pin from 8 to 16, taking advantage of all 4 bits in the mux config field (so far, only functions 0-8 and 14-15 are used). This increases the maximum possible number of functions. Starting with the D1/D1s/T113 SoC, Allwinner changed the layout of the pinctrl registers. This new layout widens the drive level field, which affects the pull register offset and the overall bank size. In order to support multiple register layouts, some of the layout parameters need to be set based on the pinctrl variant. This requires passing the pinctrl struct pointer to the register/offset calculation functions. Starting with the D1/D1s/T113 SoC, Allwinner changed the layout of the pinctrl registers. This new layout widens the drive level field, which affects the pull register offset and the overall bank size. As a first step to support this, combine the register and offset calculation functions, and refactor the math to depend on one constant for field widths instead of three. This minimizes the code size impact of making some of the factors dynamic. While rewriting these functions, move them to the implementation file, since that is the only file where they are used. And make the comment more generic, without mentioning specific offsets/sizes. The callers are updated to expect a shifted mask, and to use consistent terminology (reg/shift/mask/val). 2022-07-18pinctrl: sunxi: Support the 2.5V I/O bias modeSamuel Holland
H616 and newer SoCs feature a 2.5V I/O bias mode in addition to the 1.8V and 3.3V modes. This mode is entered by selecting the 3.3V level and disabling the "withstand function". H616 supports this capability on its main PIO only. A100 supports this capability on both its PIO and R-PIO. H6 requires I/O bias configuration on both of its PIO devices. Previously it was only done for the main PIO. The setting for Port L is at bit 0, so the bank calculation needs to account for the pin base. Otherwise the wrong bit is used. 2019-02-11pinctrl: sunxi: Support I/O bias voltage setting on A80Chen-Yu Tsai
The A80 SoC has configuration registers for I/O bias voltage. Incorrect settings would make the affected peripherals inoperable in some cases, such as Ethernet RGMII signals biased at 2.5V with the settings still at 3.3V. However low speed signals such as MDIO on the same group of pins seem to be unaffected. Previously there was no way to know what the actual voltage used was, short of hard-coding a value in the device tree. With the new pin bank regulator supply support in place, the driver can now query the regulator for its voltage, and if it's valid (as opposed to being the dummy regulator), set the bias voltage setting accordingly. Add a quirk to denote the presence of the configuration registers, and a function to set the correct setting based on the voltage read back from the regulator. This is only done when the regulator is first acquired and enabled. While it would be nice to have a notifier on the regulator so that when the voltage changes, the driver can update the setting, in practice no board currently supports dynamic changing of the I/O voltages. On most newer Allwinner SoCs, there are two pinctrl devices, the PIO and R_PIO. PIO covers pin-banks PA to PI (PJ and PK have not been seen), while R_PIO covers PL to PN. The regulator array only has space for 12 entries, which was designed to cover PA to PL. On the A80, the pin banks go up to PN, which would be the 14th entry in the regulator array. However since the driver only needs to track regulators for its own pin banks, the array only needs to have 9 entries, and also take in to account the value of pin_base, such that the regulator for the first pin-bank of the pinctrl device, be it "PA" or "PL" uses the first entry of the array. Base the regulator array index on pin_base, such that "PA" for PIO and "PL" for R_PIO both take the first element within their respective device's regulator array. Also decrease the size of the regulator array to 9, just enough to cover "PA" to "PI". The new per-pin-bank regulator handling code in the sunxi pinctrl driver has mismatched conditions for enabling and disabling the regulator: it is enabled each time a pin is requested, but only disabled when the pin-bank's reference count reaches zero. Since we are doing reference counting already, there's no need to enable the regulator each time a pin is requested. Instead we can just do it for the first requested pin of each pin-bank. Thus we can reverse the test and bail out early if it's not the first occurrence. The Allwinner SoCs have on most of their GPIO banks a regulator input. This issue was mainly ignored so far because either the regulator was a static regulator that would be providing power anyway, or the bank was used for a feature unsupported so far (CSI). For the odd cases, enabling it in the bootloader was the preferred option. However, now that we are starting to support those features, and that we can't really rely on the bootloader for this, we need to model those regulators as such in the DT. This is slightly more complicated than what it looks like, since some regulators will be tied to the PMIC, and in order to have access to the PMIC bus, you need to mux its pins, which will need the pinctrl driver, that needs the regulator driver to be registered. And this is how you get a circular dependency. In practice however, the hardware cannot fall into this case since it would result in a completely unusable bus. In order to avoid that circular dependency, we can thus get and enable the regulators at pin_request time. We'll then need to account for the references of all the pins of a particular branch to know when to put the reference, but it works pretty nicely once implemented. The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant.
