2025-05-16wifi: ath12k: add support to reap and process mon dest ringKang Yang
WCN7850 uses error dst ring as mon dest ring. Each time hardware receives a packet, will fill the payload into mon dest ring. The mon dest ring may store many MSDUs, which belonged to different MPDUs. Need to retrieve MSDUs based on the PPDU ID, only processing the MSDUs with same PPDU ID each time. The PPDU ID is used in cycles, the difference between the PPDU IDs of the two rings must be checked. If the status PPDU ID minus the dest PPDU ID is greater than 20000, it is considered a wrap-around case. After reaping the mon dest ring, should prepare packet and deliver it to mac80211 when status PPDU ID is equal to dest PPDU ID. Then start to process next PPDU if exists. But if dest PPDU ID > status PPDU ID, should hold on to mon dest ring processing. If it exceeds 16 consecutive times, status PPDU ID will be forcibly set to dest PPDU ID to avoid backpressure issue. 2025-05-16wifi: ath12k: use ath12k_buffer_addr in ath12k_dp_rx_link_desc_return()Kang Yang
Currently, ath12k_dp_rx_link_desc_return() takes struct hal_reo_dest_ring as its second input. This struct is converted to struct hal_wbm_release_ring and passed into ath12k_hal_rx_msdu_link_desc_set(), where it is converted again. This double conversion is both strange and inefficient. In ath12k_hal_rx_msdu_link_desc_set(), only buf_addr_info is actually used. To simplify the code and improve readability, directly passes buf_addr_info when calling ath12k_dp_rx_link_desc_return(). 2025-03-27wifi: ath12k: change the status update in the monitor RxP Praneesh
Currently, in the monitor Rx path, status is filled from the RX TLV header present in the MSDU data. This logic is inherited from ath11k. However, in the ath12k 802.11be hardware, the Rx TLV header is not present in the MSDU data. This information is reported under various TLV tags. Therefore, avoid the existing status filling by accumulating the needed information in the PPDU information structure and fill the status. 2025-03-27wifi: ath12k: Add extra TLV tag parsing support in monitor Rx pathP Praneesh
Currently, the monitor Rx parser handler is inherited from the ath11k. However, the ath12k 802.11be hardware does not report the Rx TLV header in the MSDU data. Instead, the hardware reports those TLVs under the following TLV tags: 1. Buffer address 2. MPDU start 3. MPDU end 4. MSDU end Therefore, add support for parsing the above TLVs in the Rx monitor path and use this information for MSDU buffer and status updates. 2025-01-26wifi: ath12k: Avoid memory leak while enabling statisticsP Praneesh
Driver uses monitor destination rings for extended statistics mode and standalone monitor mode. In extended statistics mode, TLVs are parsed from the buffer received from the monitor destination ring and assigned to the ppdu_info structure to update per-packet statistics. In standalone monitor mode, along with per-packet statistics, the packet data (payload) is captured, and the driver updates per MSDU to mac80211. When the AP interface is enabled, only extended statistics mode is activated. As part of enabling monitor rings for collecting statistics, the driver subscribes to HAL_RX_MPDU_START TLV in the filter configuration. This TLV is received from the monitor destination ring, and kzalloc for the mon_mpdu object occurs, which is not freed, leading to a memory leak. The kzalloc for the mon_mpdu object is only required while enabling the standalone monitor interface. This causes a memory leak while enabling extended statistics mode in the driver. Fix this memory leak by removing the kzalloc for the mon_mpdu object in the HAL_RX_MPDU_START TLV handling. Additionally, remove the standalone monitor mode handlings in the HAL_MON_BUF_ADDR and HAL_RX_MSDU_END TLVs. These TLV tags will be handled properly when enabling standalone monitor mode in the future. 2025-01-26wifi: ath12k: Handle PPDU spread across multiple buffersP Praneesh
Each PPDU contains numerous TLV tags. HAL_RX_PPDU_START marks the start of the PPDU, and HAL_RX_PPDU_END_STATUS_DONE marks the end. From the monitor destination rings, the driver retrieves skb containing these TLV tags and their corresponding data. Sometimes, one PPDU’s information spreads across multiple skbs. The current parsing logic uses memset on struct hal_rx_mon_ppdu_info after parsing each skb, leading to information loss if a PPDU spans multiple skbs. Fix this by setting the ppdu_continuation flag when the driver fails to get HAL_RX_PPDU_END_STATUS_DONE, and do memset on struct hal_rx_mon_ppdu_info only when the ppdu_continuation flag is not set. 2023-12-01wifi: ath12k: add 320 MHz bandwidth enumsMuna Sinada
Add 320 MHz bandwidth as a new bandwidth enum for ATH12k driver. This is extending existing bandwidth related enums to include 320 MHz. This is a precursor to supporting 320 MHz in the future. Sanity test performed to confirm that there was no impact in existing bandwidths. Additionally update QuIC copyright to include 2023 in hal_rx.h. 2022-11-29wifi: ath12k: driver for Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 devicesKalle Valo
ath12k is a new mac80211 driver for Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 devices, first supporting QCN9274 and WCN7850 PCI devices. QCN9274 supports both AP and station; WCN7850 supports only station mode. Monitor mode is not (yet) supported. Only PCI bus devices are supported. ath12k is forked from an earlier version of ath11k. It was simpler to have a "clean start" for the new generation and not try to share the code with ath11k. This makes maintenance easier and avoids major changes in ath11k, which would have significantly increased the risk of regressions in existing setups. ath12k uses le32 and cpu_to_le32() macros to handle endian conversions, instead of using the firmware byte swap feature utilized by ath11k. There is only one kernel module, named ath12k.ko. Currently ath12k only supports HE mode (IEEE 802.11ax) or older, but work is ongoing to add EHT mode (IEEE 802.11be) support. The size of the driver is ~41 kLOC and 45 files. To make the review easier, this initial version of ath12k does not support Device Tree, debugfs or any other extra features. Those will be added later, after ath12k is accepted to upstream. The driver is build tested by Intel's kernel test robot with both GCC and Clang. Sparse reports no warnings. The driver is mostly free of checkpatch warnings, albeit few of the warnings are omitted on purpose, list of them here: https://github.com/qca/qca-swiss-army-knife/blob/master/tools/scripts/ath12k/ath12k-check#L52 The driver has had multiple authors who are listed in alphabetical order below.
