2025-05-29driver: net: ethernet: mtk_star_emac: fix suspend/resume issueYanqing Wang
Identify the cause of the suspend/resume hang: netif_carrier_off() is called during link state changes and becomes stuck while executing linkwatch_work(). To resolve this issue, call netif_device_detach() during the Ethernet suspend process to temporarily detach the network device from the kernel and prevent the suspend/resume hang. 2025-04-25net: ethernet: mtk-star-emac: rearm interrupts in rx_poll only when advisedLouis-Alexis Eyraud
In mtk_star_rx_poll function, on event processing completion, the mtk_star_emac driver calls napi_complete_done but ignores its return code and enable RX DMA interrupts inconditionally. This return code gives the info if a device should avoid rearming its interrupts or not, so fix this behaviour by taking it into account. 2023-07-27net: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2021-10-14ethernet: constify references to netdev->dev_addr in driversJakub Kicinski
This big patch sprinkles const on local variables and function arguments which may refer to netdev->dev_addr. Commit 406f42fa0d3c ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all the writes to it got through appropriate helpers. Some of the changes here are not strictly required - const is sometimes cast off but pointer is not used for writing. It seems like it's still better to add the const in case the code changes later or relevant -W flags get enabled for the build. No functional changes. 2021-07-27dev_ioctl: split out ndo_eth_ioctlArnd Bergmann
Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP. Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands. This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find their way through the implementation. 2020-06-15net: ethernet: mtk-star-emac: simplify interrupt handlingBartosz Golaszewski
During development we tried to make the interrupt handling as fine-grained as possible with TX and RX interrupts being disabled/enabled independently and the counter registers reset from workqueue context. Unfortunately after thorough testing of current mainline, we noticed the driver has become unstable under heavy load. While this is hard to reproduce, it's quite consistent in the driver's current form. This patch proposes to go back to the previous approach of doing all processing in napi context with all interrupts masked in order to make the driver usable in mainline linux. This doesn't impact the performance on pumpkin boards at all and it's in line with what many ethernet drivers do in mainline linux anyway. At the same time we're adding a FIXME comment about the need to improve the interrupt handling.
