2025-07-08eth: otx2: migrate to the *_rxfh_context opsJakub Kicinski
otx2 only supports additional indirection tables (no separate keys etc.) so the conversion to dedicated callbacks and core-allocated context is mostly removing the code which stores the extra tables in the driver. Core already stores the indirection tables for additional contexts, and doesn't call .get for them. One subtle change here is that we'll now start with the table covering all queues, not directing all traffic to queue 0. This is what core expects if the user doesn't pass the initial indir table explicitly (there's a WARN_ON() in the core trying to make sure driver authors don't forget to populate ctx to defaults). Drivers implementing .create_rxfh_context don't have to set cap_rss_ctx_supported, so remove it. 2025-06-27Octeontx2-pf: ethtool: support multi advertise modeHariprasad Kelam
Current implementation considers only first advertise mode and passes the same to firmware to process. This patch extends code such that user can advertise multiple modes on the given interface. Below are high level changes: 1. Remove unnecessary speed/duplex/autoneg validation as its already verified as part of "set_link_ksettings" 2. Since scratch csr framework designed to support single mode at a time, use "shared firmware data" for multi mode support. 2025-06-27Octeontx-pf: Update SGMII mode mappingHariprasad Kelam
Current implementation maps ethtool link modes 10baseT/100baseT/1000baseT to single firmware mode SGMII. This create a problem for end users who want to advertise only one speed among them. This patch addresses the issue by mapping each ethtool link mode to a corresponding firmware mode also updates new modes supported by firmware. 2024-07-15net: Add struct kernel_ethtool_ts_infoKory Maincent
In prevision to add new UAPI for hwtstamp we will be limited to the struct ethtool_ts_info that is currently passed in fixed binary format through the ETHTOOL_GET_TS_INFO ethtool ioctl. It would be good if new kernel code already started operating on an extensible kernel variant of that structure, similar in concept to struct kernel_hwtstamp_config vs struct hwtstamp_config. Since struct ethtool_ts_info is in include/uapi/linux/ethtool.h, here we introduce the kernel-only structure in include/linux/ethtool.h. The manual copy is then made in the function called by ETHTOOL_GET_TS_INFO. 2023-12-13net: ethtool: get rid of get/set_rxfh_context functionsAhmed Zaki
Add the RSS context parameters to struct ethtool_rxfh_param and use the get/set_rxfh to handle the RSS contexts as well. This is part 2/2 of the fix suggested in [1]: - Add a rss_context member to the argument struct and a capability like cap_link_lanes_supported to indicate whether driver supports rss contexts, then you can remove *et_rxfh_context functions, and instead call *et_rxfh() with a non-zero rss_context. 2023-12-13net: ethtool: pass a pointer to parameters to get/set_rxfh ethtool opsAhmed Zaki
The get/set_rxfh ethtool ops currently takes the rxfh (RSS) parameters as direct function arguments. This will force us to change the API (and all drivers' functions) every time some new parameters are added. This is part 1/2 of the fix, as suggested in [1]: - First simplify the code by always providing a pointer to all params (indir, key and func); the fact that some of them may be NULL seems like a weird historic thing or a premature optimization. It will simplify the drivers if all pointers are always present. - Then make the functions take a dev pointer, and a pointer to a single struct wrapping all arguments. The set_* should also take an extack. 2021-07-25octeontx2-pf: Fix interface down flag on errorGeetha sowjanya
In the existing code while changing the number of TX/RX queues using ethtool the PF/VF interface resources are freed and reallocated (otx2_stop and otx2_open is called) if the device is in running state. If any resource allocation fails in otx2_open, driver free already allocated resources and return. But again, when the number of queues changes as the device state still running oxt2_stop is called. In which we try to free already freed resources leading to driver crash. This patch fixes the issue by setting the INTF_DOWN flag on error and free the resources in otx2_stop only if the flag is not set. 2021-06-15octeontx2-pf: Add police action for TC flowerSubbaraya Sundeep
Added police action for ingress TC flower hardware offload. With this rate limiting can be done per flow. Since rate limiting is tied to RQs in hardware the number of TC flower filters with action as police is limited to number of receive queues of the interface. Both bps and pps modes are supported. Examples to rate limit a flow: $ ethtool -K eth0 hw-tc-offload on $ tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress $ tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip \ flower ip_proto udp dst_port 80 action \ police rate 100Mbit burst 32Kbit $ tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: \ protocol ip flower dst_mac 5e:b2:34:ee:29:49 \ action police pkts_rate 5000 pkts_burst 2048 Signed-off-by: Subbaraya Sundeep <sbhatta@marvell.com> Signed-off-by: Sunil Kovvuri Goutham <sgoutham@marvell.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2021-02-12octeontx2-pf: Fix out-of-bounds read in otx2_get_fecparam()Gustavo A. R. Silva
Code at line 967 implies that rsp->fwdata.supported_fec may be up to 4: 967: if (rsp->fwdata.supported_fec <= FEC_MAX_INDEX) If rsp->fwdata.supported_fec evaluates to 4, then there is an out-of-bounds read at line 971 because fec is an array with a maximum of 4 elements: 954 const int fec[] = { 955 ETHTOOL_FEC_OFF, 956 ETHTOOL_FEC_BASER, 957 ETHTOOL_FEC_RS, 958 ETHTOOL_FEC_BASER | ETHTOOL_FEC_RS}; 959 #define FEC_MAX_INDEX 4 971: fecparam->fec = fec[rsp->fwdata.supported_fec]; Fix this by properly indexing fec[] with rsp->fwdata.supported_fec - 1. In this case the proper indexes 0 to 3 are used when rsp->fwdata.supported_fec evaluates to a range of 1 to 4, correspondingly. 2020-11-17octeontx2-pf: Add support for ethtool ntuple filtersSubbaraya Sundeep
This patch adds support for adding and deleting ethtool ntuple filters. The filters for ether, ipv4, ipv6, tcp, udp and sctp are supported. The mask is also supported. The supported actions are drop and direct to a queue. Additionally we support FLOW_EXT field vlan_tci and FLOW_MAC_EXT. The NIX PF will allocate total 32 MCAM entries for the use of ethtool ntuple filters. The Administrative Function(AF) will install/delete the MCAM rules when NIX PF sends mailbox message to install/delete the ntuple filters. Ethtool ntuple filters support is restricted to PFs as of now and PF can install ntuple filters to direct the traffic to its VFs. Hence added a separate callback for VFs to get/set RSS configuration.
