2024-10-21mtd: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/mtd to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-07-17mtd: rawnand: mxc: use 'time_left' variable with wait_for_completion_timeout()Wolfram Sang
There is a confusing pattern in the kernel to use a variable named 'timeout' to store the result of wait_for_completion_timeout() causing patterns like: timeout = wait_for_completion_timeout(...) if (!timeout) return -ETIMEDOUT; with all kinds of permutations. Use 'time_left' as a variable to make the code self explaining. 2024-07-01mtd: rawnand: mxc: support software ECCSascha Hauer
With these changes the driver can be used with software BCH ECC which is useful for NAND chips that require a stronger ECC than the i.MX hardware supports. The controller normally interleaves user data with OOB data when accessing the NAND chip. With Software BCH ECC we write the data to the NAND in a way that the raw data on the NAND chip matches the way the NAND layer sees it. This way commands like NAND_CMD_RNDOUT work as expected. This was tested on i.MX27 but should work on the other SoCs supported by this driver as well. 2024-07-01mtd: rawnand: mxc: separate page read from ecc calcSascha Hauer
Our read_page hook currently reads out a page and also counts and returns the number of bitflips. In upcoming exec_op conversion we'll need to read the page data in exec_op, but the bitflip information will be needed in mxc_nand_read_page(). To ease exec_op conversion separate the page read out from the bitflip evaluation. For the v2/v3 controllers we can leave the bitflip information in the status register for later evaluation. For the v1 controller this is not possible, because the status register is overwritten with each subpage read. We therefore store the bitflip information in the private data. 2023-07-27mtd: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it was merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-04-11mtd: nand: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2020-10-26mtd: rawnand: mxc: Move the ECC engine initialization to the right placeFabio Estevam
No ECC initialization should happen during the host controller probe. In fact, we need the probe function to call nand_scan() in order to: - identify the device, its capabilities and constraints (nand_scan_ident()) - configure the ECC engine accordingly (->attach_chip()) - scan its content and prepare the core (nand_scan_tail()) Moving these lines to mxcnd_attach_chip() fixes a regression caused by a previous commit supposed to clarify these steps. When moving the ECC initialization from probe() to attach(), get rid of the pdata usage to determine the engine type and let the core decide instead. Tested on a imx27-pdk board. 2018-06-19mtd: rawnand: mxc: set spare area size register explicitlyMartin Kaiser
The v21 version of the NAND flash controller contains a Spare Area Size Register (SPAS) at offset 0x10. Its setting defaults to the maximum spare area size of 218 bytes. The size that is set in this register is used by the controller when it calculates the ECC bytes internally in hardware. Usually, this register is updated from settings in the IIM fuses when the system is booting from NAND flash. For other boot media, however, the SPAS register remains at the default setting, which may not work for the particular flash chip on the board. The same goes for flash chips whose configuration cannot be set in the IIM fuses (e.g. chips with 2k sector size and 128 bytes spare area size can't be configured in the IIM fuses on imx25 systems). Set the SPAS register explicitly during the preset operation. Derive the register value from mtd->oobsize that was detected during probe by decoding the flash chip's ID bytes. While at it, rename the define for the spare area register's offset to NFC_V21_RSLTSPARE_AREA. The register at offset 0x10 on v1 controllers is different from the register on v21 controllers. An error after nand_scan_tail() should trigger a nand_cleanup(). The helper mtd_device_parse_register() returns an error code that should be checked and nand_cleanup() called accordingly. 2018-03-20mtd: rawnand: mxc: remove useless checks in GET/SET_FEATURES functionsMiquel Raynal
All the calls to the chip's hooks ->get/set_features() go through the core's wrappers nand_get/set_features() that already do the necessary checks about feature support. Remove these checks from the mxc's functions. Signed-off-by: Miquel Raynal <miquel.raynal@bootlin.com> Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@bootlin.com>
2018-03-20mtd: rawnand: rename SET/GET FEATURES related functionsMiquel Raynal
SET/GET FEATURES are flagged ONFI-compliant because of their name. This is not accurate as non-ONFI NAND chips support it and use it. Rename the hooks and helpers to remove the "onfi" prefix.
