2024-12-16powerpc/8xx: Drop legacy-of-mm-gpiochip.h headerAndy Shevchenko
Remove legacy-of-mm-gpiochip.h header file. The above mentioned file provides an OF API that's deprecated. There is no agnostic alternatives to it and we have to open code the logic which was hidden behind of_mm_gpiochip_add_data(). Note, most of the GPIO drivers are using their own labeling schemas and resource retrieval that only a few may gain of the code deduplication, so whenever alternative is appear we can move drivers again to use that one. As a side effect this change fixes a potential memory leak on an error path, if of_mm_gpiochip_add_data() fails. 2023-08-16powerpc/8xx: Remove immr_map() and immr_unmap()Christophe Leroy
Since commit fb533d0c5a97 ("[POWERPC] 8xx: Infrastructure code cleanup.") immr_map() is just returning mpc8xxx_immr pointer and immr_unmap() do nothing. We already have parts of code that use mpc8xxx_immr directly so get rid of immr_map() and immr_unmap() by using mpc8xxx_immr directly. And avoid going through local pointers that hide the pointed structure. The CPM1 command mask is defined for use with the standard CPM1 command register as described in the user's manual: 0 |1 3|4 7|8 11|12 14| 15| RST| - |OPCODE|CH_NUM| - |FLG| In the QMC extension the CPM1 command register is redefined (QMC supplement user's manuel) with the following mapping: 0 |1 3|4 7|8 13|14| 15| RST|QMC OPCODE| 1110|CHANNEL_NUMBER| -|FLG| Extend the check command mask in order to support both the standard CH_NUM field and the QMC extension CHANNEL_NUMBER field. This is pure code move, checkpatch report is ignored at this point, except one parenthesis alignment which would remain at the end of the series. All other points fly away with following patches. 2020-06-09mm: don't include asm/pgtable.h if linux/mm.h is already includedMike Rapoport
Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2. The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported architectures. Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils down to, e.g. static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address) { return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1); } static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address) { return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address); } These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined. For architectures that really need a custom version there is always possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic. These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table accessors to the new header. This patch (of 12): The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h> in the files that include <linux/mm.h>. 2020-03-25powerpc: Replace setup_irq() by request_irq()afzal mohammed
request_irq() is preferred over setup_irq(). Invocations of setup_irq() occur after memory allocators are ready. Per tglx[1], setup_irq() existed in olden days when allocators were not ready by the time early interrupts were initialized. Hence replace setup_irq() by request_irq(). 2019-11-19powerpc/8xx: use the fixmapped IMMR in cpm_reset()Christophe Leroy
Since commit f86ef74ed919 ("powerpc/8xx: Fix vaddr for IMMR early remap"), the IMMR area has been mapped at startup with fixmap. Use that fixmap directly instead of calling ioremap(), this avoids calling ioremap() early before the slab is available.
