Rewrite function to have (unneeded) socket descriptors automatically close()d when leaving the scope. On little-endian systems, doing subtraction after htons() leads to interesting results: Given: MAGIC_BYTES = 123 = 0x007B aka. in big endian: 0x7B00 = 31488 sizeof(struct iphdr) = 20 Before this patch: __bpf_constant_htons(MAGIC_BYTES) - sizeof(struct iphdr) = 0x7AEC 0x7AEC = htons(0xEC7A) = htons(60538) So these were outer IP packets with a total length of 123 bytes, containing an inner IP packet with a total length of 60538 bytes. After this patch: __bpf_constant_htons(MAGIC_BYTES - sizeof(struct iphdr)) = htons(103) Now these packets are outer IP packets with a total length of 123 bytes, containing an inner IP packet with a total length of 103 bytes. 2024-08-08bpf/bpf_get,set_sockopt: add option to set TCP-BPF sock ops flagsAlan Maguire
Currently the only opportunity to set sock ops flags dictating which callbacks fire for a socket is from within a TCP-BPF sockops program. This is problematic if the connection is already set up as there is no further chance to specify callbacks for that socket. Add TCP_BPF_SOCK_OPS_CB_FLAGS to bpf_setsockopt() and bpf_getsockopt() to allow users to specify callbacks later, either via an iterator over sockets or via a socket-specific program triggered by a setsockopt() on the socket. 2024-08-02selftests: net: ksft: support marking tests as disruptiveStanislav Fomichev
Add new @ksft_disruptive decorator to mark the tests that might be disruptive to the system. Depending on how well the previous test works in the CI we might want to disable disruptive tests by default and only let the developers run them manually. KSFT framework runs disruptive tests by default. DISRUPTIVE=False environment (or config file) can be used to disable these tests. ksft_setup should be called by the test cases that want to use new decorator (ksft_setup is only called via NetDrvEnv/NetDrvEpEnv for now). In the future we can add similar decorators to, for example, avoid running slow tests all the time. Introduce two tests, one for SOCK_STREAM and one for SOCK_SEQPACKET, which use SIOCOUTQ ioctl to check that the number of unsent bytes is zero after delivering a packet. vsock_connect and vsock_accept are no longer static: this is to create more generic tests, allowing code to be reused for SEQPACKET and STREAM. 2024-07-30selftests: mptcp: join: check backup support in signal endpMatthieu Baerts (NGI0)
Before the previous commit, 'signal' endpoints with the 'backup' flag were ignored when sending the MP_JOIN. The MPTCP Join selftest has then been modified to validate this case: the "single address, backup" test, is now validating the MP_JOIN with a backup flag as it is what we expect it to do with such name. The previous version has been kept, but renamed to "single address, switch to backup" to avoid confusions. The "single address with port, backup" test is also now validating the MPJ with a backup flag, which makes more sense than checking the switch to backup with an MP_PRIO. The "mpc backup both sides" test is now validating that the backup flag is also set in MP_JOIN from and to the addresses used in the initial subflow, using the special ID 0. The 'Fixes' tag here below is the same as the one from the previous commit: this patch here is not fixing anything wrong in the selftests, but it validates the previous fix for an issue introduced by this commit ID. 2024-07-30selftests: mptcp: join: validate backup in MPJMatthieu Baerts (NGI0)
A peer can notify the other one that a subflow has to be treated as "backup" by two different ways: either by sending a dedicated MP_PRIO notification, or by setting the backup flag in the MP_JOIN handshake. The selftests were previously monitoring the former, but not the latter. This is what is now done here by looking at these new MIB counters when validating the 'backup' cases: MPTcpExtMPJoinSynBackupRx MPTcpExtMPJoinSynAckBackupRx The 'Fixes' tag here below is the same as the one from the previous commit: this patch here is not fixing anything wrong in the selftests, but it will help to validate a new fix for an issue introduced by this commit ID. Apparently clang++ also unconditionally adds it for the C++ targets [0] which causes a conflict. 2024-07-28minmax: make generic MIN() and MAX() macros available everywhereLinus Torvalds
This just standardizes the use of MIN() and MAX() macros, with the very traditional semantics. The goal is to use these for C constant expressions and for top-level / static initializers, and so be able to simplify the min()/max() macros. These macro names were used by various kernel code - they are very traditional, after all - and all such users have been fixed up, with a few different approaches: - trivial duplicated macro definitions have been removed Note that 'trivial' here means that it's obviously kernel code that already included all the major kernel headers, and thus gets the new generic MIN/MAX macros automatically. - non-trivial duplicated macro definitions are guarded with #ifndef This is the "yes, they define their own versions, but no, the include situation is not entirely obvious, and maybe they don't get the generic version automatically" case. - strange use case #1 A couple of drivers decided that the way they want to describe their versioning is with #define MAJ 1 #define MIN 2 #define DRV_VERSION __stringify(MAJ) "." __stringify(MIN) which adds zero value and I just did my Alexander the Great impersonation, and rewrote that pointless Gordian knot as #define DRV_VERSION "1.2" instead. - strange use case #2 A couple of drivers thought that it's a good idea to have a random 'MIN' or 'MAX' define for a value or index into a table, rather than the traditional macro that takes arguments. These values were re-written as C enum's instead. The new function-line macros only expand when followed by an open parenthesis, and thus don't clash with enum use. Happily, there weren't really all that many of these cases, and a lot of users already had the pattern of using '#ifndef' guarding (or in one case just using '#undef MIN') before defining their own private version that does the same thing. Provide a definition for metadata that allows reading DC6 residency counter via PMT and exposes it as a builtin counter. Note that this residency counter is updated and read via entirely different mechanisms vs the MSR-based residency counters. On MTL processors, there are times when Die%c6 will report above 100%. 2024-07-26perf: build: Link lib 'zstd' for static buildLeo Yan
When build static perf, Makefile reports the error: Makefile.config:480: No libdw DWARF unwind found, Please install elfutils-devel/libdw-dev >= 0.158 and/or set LIBDW_DIR The libdw has been installed on the system, but the build system fails to build the feature detecting binary 'test-libdw-dwarf-unwind'. The failure is caused by missing to link the lib 'zstd'. Link lib 'zstd' for the static build, in the end, the dwarf feature can be enabled in the static perf. 2024-07-26perf: build: Only link libebl.a for old libdwLeo Yan
Since libdw version 0.177, elfutils has merged libebl.a into libdw (see the commit "libebl: Don't install libebl.a, libebl.h and remove backends from spec." in the elfutils repository). As a result, libebl.a does not exist on Debian Bullseye and newer releases, causing static perf builds to fail on these distributions. This commit checks the libdw version and only links libebl.a if it detects that the libdw version is older than 0.177. Python configuration has dedicated folders for different architectures. For example, Python 3.11 has two folders as shown below, one for Arm64 and another for x86_64: /usr/lib/python3.11/config-3.11-aarch64-linux-gnu/ /usr/lib/python3.11/config-3.11-x86_64-linux-gnu/ This commit updates the Python configuration path based on the compiler's machine type, guiding the compiler to find the correct path for Python libraries. It also renames the generated .so file name to match the machine name. 2024-07-26perf: build: Setup PKG_CONFIG_LIBDIR for cross compilationLeo Yan
On recent Linux distros like Ubuntu Noble and Debian Bookworm, the 'pkg-config-aarch64-linux-gnu' package is missing. As a result, the aarch64-linux-gnu-pkg-config command is not available, which causes build failures. When a build passes the environment variables PKG_CONFIG_LIBDIR or PKG_CONFIG_PATH, like a user uses make command or a build system (like Yocto, Buildroot, etc) prepares the variables and passes to the Perf's Makefile, the commit keeps these variables for package configuration. Otherwise, this commit sets the PKG_CONFIG_LIBDIR variable to use the Multiarch libs for the cross compilation. The path below could add a callchain_cursor_node with NULL ms.maps. add_callchain_ip() thread__find_symbol(.., &al) thread__find_map(.., &al) // al->maps becomes NULL ms.maps = maps__get(al.maps) callchain_cursor_append(..., &ms, ...) node->ms.maps = maps__get(ms->maps) Then the path below would dereference NULL maps and get segfault. fill_callchain_info() maps__machine(node->ms.maps); Fix it by checking if maps is NULL in fill_callchain_info().
