2024-09-09ASoC: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all drivers below sound/soc to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. The code seems mostly copy-pasted, with some machine drivers forgetting to test if the 'adev' result is NULL. Add this check when missing, and use -ENOENT consistently as an error code. Constifying "struct snd_soc_ops" moves some data to a read-only section, so increase overall security. This structure is also part of scripts/const_structs.checkpatch. 2023-03-20ASoC: Intel: sof_wm8804: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2023-01-05ASoC: Intel: sof-wm8804: Replace open coded acpi_dev_put()Andy Shevchenko
Instead of calling put_device(&adev->dev) where adev is a pointer to an ACPI device, use specific call, i.e. acpi_dev_put(). Also move it out of the conditional to make it more visible in case some other code will be added which may use that pointer. We need to keep a reference as long as we use the pointer. 2020-05-01ASoC: Intel: boards: sof-wm8804: support for Hifiberry Digiplus boardsPierre-Louis Bossart
Add a new machine driver to interface with WM8804. The code is based on settings found in sound/soc/bcm/hifiberry-digi.c in the Raspberry PI tree. Tested on Up2 with Digi+ IO (capture+playback) and Digi+ PRO (playback with two local oscillators supported). The codec is clock master in both cases. Capture support has known clocking restrictions: the transmitter needs to be active for the clock recovery, the "Tx Source" mixer set to "S/PDIF RX". Playback will only work while capture is active.
