Use __skb_queue_purge() instead of re-implementing it. Note that it uses
kfree_skb_reason() instead of kfree_skb() internally, and pass
SKB_DROP_REASON_QUEUE_PURGE drop reason to the kfree_skb tracepoint.

Now, RTNL is not needed for mcast code, and what's commented in
ip6_mc_msfget() is apparent by for_each_pmc_socklock(), which has
lockdep annotation for lock_sock().
Let's remove the comment and ASSERT_RTNL() in ipv6_mc_rejoin_groups().

In ip6_mc_source() and ip6_mc_msfilter(), per-socket mld data is
protected by lock_sock() and inet6_dev->mc_lock is also held for
some per-interface functions.
ip6_mc_find_dev_rtnl() only depends on RTNL. If we want to remove
it, we need to check inet6_dev->dead under mc_lock to close the race
with addrconf_ifdown(), as mentioned earlier.
Let's do that and drop RTNL for the rest of MCAST_ socket options.
Note that ip6_mc_msfilter() has unnecessary lock dances and they
are integrated into one to avoid the last-minute error and simplify
the error handling.

In __ipv6_sock_mc_join(), per-socket mld data is protected by lock_sock(),
and only __dev_get_by_index() requires RTNL.
Let's use dev_get_by_index() and drop RTNL for IPV6_ADD_MEMBERSHIP and
MCAST_JOIN_GROUP.
Note that we must call rt6_lookup() and dev_hold() under RCU.
If rt6_lookup() returns an entry from the exception table, dst_dev_put()
could change rt->dev.dst to loopback concurrently, and the original device
could lose the refcount before dev_hold() and unblock device registration.
dst_dev_put() is called from NETDEV_UNREGISTER and synchronize_net() follows
it, so as long as rt6_lookup() and dev_hold() are called within the same
RCU critical section, the dev is alive.
Even if the race happens, they are synchronised by idev->dead and mcast
addresses are cleaned up.
For the racy access to rt->dst.dev, we use dst_dev().

As well as __ipv6_dev_mc_inc(), all code in __ipv6_dev_mc_dec() are
protected by inet6_dev->mc_lock, and RTNL is not needed.
Let's use in6_dev_get() in ipv6_dev_mc_dec() and remove ASSERT_RTNL()
in __ipv6_dev_mc_dec().
Now, we can remove the RTNL comment above addrconf_leave_solict() too.

Since commit 63ed8de4be81 ("mld: add mc_lock for protecting per-interface
mld data"), the newly allocated struct ifmcaddr6 cannot be removed until
inet6_dev->mc_lock is released, so mca_get() and mc_put() are unnecessary.
Let's remove the extra refcounting.
Note that mca_get() was only used in __ipv6_dev_mc_inc().

Since commit 63ed8de4be81 ("mld: add mc_lock for protecting
per-interface mld data"), every multicast resource is protected
by inet6_dev->mc_lock.
RTNL is unnecessary in terms of protection but still needed for
synchronisation between addrconf_ifdown() and __ipv6_dev_mc_inc().
Once we removed RTNL, there would be a race below, where we could
add a multicast address to a dead inet6_dev.

The race window can be easily closed by checking inet6_dev->dead
under inet6_dev->mc_lock in __ipv6_dev_mc_inc() as addrconf_ifdown()
will acquire it after marking inet6_dev dead.
Let's check inet6_dev->dead under mc_lock in __ipv6_dev_mc_inc().
Note that now __ipv6_dev_mc_inc() no longer depends on RTNL and
we can remove ASSERT_RTNL() there and the RTNL comment above
addrconf_join_solict().

Commit 63ed8de4be81 ("mld: add mc_lock for protecting per-interface
mld data") added the same comments regarding locking to many functions.
Let's replace the comments with lockdep annotation, which is more helpful.
Note that we just remove the comment for mld_clear_zeros() and
mld_send_cr(), where mc_dereference() is used in the entry of the
function.
While at it, a comment for __ipv6_sock_mc_join() is moved back to the
correct place.

and avoid a potential UAF.

Corrected the netlink message size calculation for multicast group
join/leave notifications. The previous calculation did not account for
the inclusion of both IPv4/IPv6 addresses and ifa_cacheinfo in the
payload. This fix ensures that the allocated message size is
sufficient to hold all necessary information.
This patch also includes the following improvements:
* Uses GFP_KERNEL instead of GFP_ATOMIC when holding the RTNL mutex.
* Uses nla_total_size(sizeof(struct in6_addr)) instead of
nla_total_size(16).
* Removes unnecessary EXPORT_SYMBOL().

This change introduces netlink notifications for multicast address
changes. The following features are included:
* Addition and deletion of multicast addresses are reported using
RTM_NEWMULTICAST and RTM_DELMULTICAST messages with AF_INET and
AF_INET6.
* Two new notification groups: RTNLGRP_IPV4_MCADDR and
RTNLGRP_IPV6_MCADDR are introduced for receiving these events.
This change allows user space applications (e.g., ip monitor) to
efficiently track multicast group memberships by listening for netlink
events. Previously, applications relied on inefficient polling of
procfs, introducing delays. With netlink notifications, applications
receive realtime updates on multicast group membership changes,
enabling more precise metrics collection and system monitoring.
This change also unlocks the potential for implementing a wide range
of sophisticated multicast related features in user space by allowing
applications to combine kernel provided multicast address information
with user space data and communicate decisions back to the kernel for
more fine grained control. This mechanism can be used for various
purposes, including multicast filtering, IGMP/MLD offload, and
IGMP/MLD snooping.

As discussed in the past (commit 2d3916f31891 ("ipv6: fix skb drops
in igmp6_event_query() and igmp6_event_report()")) I think the
synchronize_net() call in ipv6_mc_down() is not needed.
Under load, synchronize_net() can last between 200 usec and 5 ms.
KASAN seems to agree as well.

idev->mc_ifc_count can be written over without proper locking.
Originally found by syzbot [1], fix this issue by encapsulating calls
to mld_ifc_stop_work() (and mld_gq_stop_work() for good measure) with
mutex_lock() and mutex_unlock() accordingly as these functions
should only be called with mc_lock per their declarations.

IPSTATS_MIB_OUTPKTS("OutRequests") is counted with IPSTATS_MIB_OUTOCTETS
("OutOctets") in ip_finish_output2().
According to RFC 4293, it is "OutOctets" counted with "OutTransmits" but
not "OutRequests". "OutRequests" does not include any datagrams counted
in "ForwDatagrams".

Rather than incurring a division or requesting too many random bytes for
the given range, use the prandom_u32_max() function, which only takes
the minimum required bytes from the RNG and avoids divisions. This was

Similar to the earlier patch that changes sk_getsockopt() to
take the sockptr_t argument . This patch also changes
do_ipv6_getsockopt() to take the sockptr_t argument such that
a latter patch can make bpf_getsockopt(SOL_IPV6) to reuse
do_ipv6_getsockopt().
Note on the change in ip6_mc_msfget(). This function is to
return an array of sockaddr_storage in optval. This function
is shared between ipv6_get_msfilter() and compat_ipv6_get_msfilter().
However, the sockaddr_storage is stored at different offset of the
optval because of the difference between group_filter and
compat_group_filter. Thus, a new 'ss_offset' argument is
added to ip6_mc_msfget().

mld_{query | report}_work() processes queued events.
If there are too many events in the queue, it re-queue a work.
And then, it returns without in6_dev_put().
But if queuing is failed, it should call in6_dev_put(), but it doesn't.
So, a reference count leak would occur.

Whenever RCU protected list replaces an object,
the pointer to the new object needs to be updated
_before_ the call to kfree_rcu() or call_rcu()
Also ip6_mc_msfilter() needs to update the pointer
before releasing the mc_lock mutex.
Note that linux-5.13 was supporting kfree_rcu(NULL, rcu),
so this fix does not need the conditional test I was
forced to use in the equivalent patch for IPv4.

While investigating on why a synchronize_net() has been added recently
in ipv6_mc_down(), I found that igmp6_event_query() and igmp6_event_report()
might drop skbs in some cases.
Discussion about removing synchronize_net() from ipv6_mc_down()
will happen in a different thread.

Some time ago 8965779d2c0e ("ipv6,mcast: always hold idev->lock before mca_lock")
switched ipv6_get_lladdr() to __ipv6_get_lladdr(), which is rcu-unsafe
version. That was OK, because idev->lock was held for these codepaths.
In 88e2ca308094 ("mld: convert ifmcaddr6 to RCU") these external locks were
removed, so we probably need to restore the original rcu-safe call.
Otherwise, we occasionally get a machine crashed/stalled with the following

If link mtu is too big, mld_newpack() allocates high-order page.
But most mld packets don't need high-order page.
So, it might waste unnecessary pages.
To avoid this, it makes mld_newpack() try to allocate order-0 page.

mld_newpack() doesn't allow to allocate high order page,
only order-0 allocation is allowed.
If headroom size is too large, a kernel panic could occur in skb_put().

struct ip6_sf_socklist and ipv6_mc_socklist are per-socket MLD data.
These data are protected by rtnl lock, socket lock, and RCU.
So, when these are used, it verifies whether rtnl lock is acquired or not.
ip6_mc_msfget() is called by do_ipv6_getsockopt().
But caller doesn't acquire rtnl lock.
So, when these data are used in the ip6_mc_msfget() lockdep warns about it.
But accessing these is actually safe because socket lock was acquired by
do_ipv6_getsockopt().
So, it changes lockdep annotation from rtnl lock to socket lock.
(rtnl_dereference -> sock_dereference)

The purpose of this lock is to avoid a bottleneck in the query/report
event handler logic.
By previous patches, almost all mld data is protected by RTNL.
So, the query and report event handler, which is data path logic
acquires RTNL too. Therefore if a lot of query and report events
are received, it uses RTNL for a long time.
So it makes the control-plane bottleneck because of using RTNL.
In order to avoid this bottleneck, mc_lock is added.
mc_lock protect only per-interface mld data and per-interface mld
data is used in the query/report event handler logic.
So, no longer rtnl_lock is needed in the query/report event handler logic.
Therefore bottleneck will be disappeared by mc_lock.

When query/report packets are received, mld module processes them.
But they are processed under BH context so it couldn't use sleepable
functions. So, in order to switch context, the two workqueues are
added which processes query and report event.
In the struct inet6_dev, mc_{query | report}_queue are added so it
is per-interface queue.
And mc_{query | report}_work are workqueue structure.
When the query or report event is received, skb is queued to proper
queue and worker function is scheduled immediately.
Workqueues and queues are protected by spinlock, which is
mc_{query | report}_lock, and worker functions are protected by RTNL.

The ifmcaddr6 has been protected by inet6_dev->lock(rwlock) so that
the critical section is atomic context. In order to switch this context,
changing locking is needed. The ifmcaddr6 actually already protected by
RTNL So if it's converted to use RCU, its control path context can be
switched to sleepable.

The ip6_sf_list has been protected by mca_lock(spin_lock) so that the
critical section is atomic context. In order to switch this context,
changing locking is needed. The ip6_sf_list actually already protected
by RTNL So if it's converted to use RCU, its control path context can
be switched to sleepable.
But It doesn't remove mca_lock yet because ifmcaddr6 isn't converted
to RCU yet. So, It's not fully converted to the sleepable context.

is atomic context.
In order to switch this context, changing locking is needed.
The sflist actually already protected by RTNL So if it's converted
to use RCU, its control path context can be switched to sleepable.

The purpose of mc_lock is to protect inet6_dev->mc_tomb.
But mc_tomb is already protected by RTNL and all functions,
which manipulate mc_tomb are called under RTNL.
So, mc_lock is not needed.
Furthermore, it is spinlock so the critical section is atomic.
In order to reduce atomic context, it should be removed.
