Instances of 'struct target_opcode_descriptor' are not modified in this driver. Constifying this structure moves some data to a read-only section, so increase overall security, especially when the structure holds some function pointers. Mike Christie <michael.christie@oracle.com> says: The patches in this thread allow us to use the block pr_ops with LIO's target_core_iblock module to support cluster applications in VMs. They were built over Linus's tree. They also apply over linux-next and Martin's tree and Jens's trees. Currently, to use windows clustering or linux clustering (pacemaker + cluster labs scsi fence agents) in VMs with LIO and vhost-scsi, you have to use tcmu or pscsi or use a cluster aware FS/framework for the LIO pr file. Setting up a cluster FS/framework is pain and waste when your real backend device is already a distributed device, and pscsi and tcmu are nice for specific use cases, but iblock gives you the best performance and allows you to use stacked devices like dm-multipath. So these patches allow iblock to work like pscsi/tcmu where they can pass a PR command to the backend module. And then iblock will use the pr_ops to pass the PR command to the real devices similar to what we do for unmap today. The patches are separated in the following groups: Patch 1 - 2: - Add block layer callouts for reading reservations and rename reservation error code. Patch 3 - 5: - SCSI support for new callouts. Patch 6: - DM support for new callouts. Patch 7 - 13: - NVMe support for new callouts. Patch 14 - 18: - LIO support for new callouts. This patchset has been tested with the libiscsi PGR ops and with window's failover cluster verification test. The iblock pr_ops support does not support commands that require port or I_T Nexus info. This adds a struct target_opcode_descriptor as an argument to the enabled callout so we can still have the common tcm_is_pr_enabled and tcm_is_scsi2_reservations_enabled functions and also determine if the command is supported based on the command and service action and device settings. A MAXIMUM TRANSFER LENGTH value indicates the maximum transfer length in logical blocks that the device server accepts for a single command. Fix function sending the length in sectors instead of blocks. This patch also removes the special casing for fileio in block_size_store since this logic in now unified in spc_emulate_evpd_b0() for all backends. In preparation for supporting user provided vendor strings, add an extra byte to the vendor, model and revision arrays in struct t10_wwn. This ensures that the full INQUIRY data can be carried in the arrays along with a null-terminator. Change a number of array readers and writers so that they account for explicit null-termination: - The pscsi_set_inquiry_info() and emulate_model_alias_store() codepaths don't currently explicitly null-terminate; fix this. - Existing t10_wwn field dumps use for-loops which step over null-terminators for right-padding. + Use printf with width specifiers instead. spc5r17.pdf specifies: 4.3.1 ASCII data field requirements ASCII data fields shall contain only ASCII printable characters (i.e., code values 20h to 7Eh) and may be terminated with one or more ASCII null (00h) characters. ASCII data fields described as being left-aligned shall have any unused bytes at the end of the field (i.e., highest offset) and the unused bytes shall be filled with ASCII space characters (20h). LIO currently space-pads the T10 VENDOR IDENTIFICATION and PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION fields in the standard INQUIRY data. However, the PRODUCT REVISION LEVEL field in the standard INQUIRY data as well as the T10 VENDOR IDENTIFICATION field in the INQUIRY Device Identification VPD Page are zero-terminated/zero-padded. The new emulate_pr backstore attribute allows for Persistent Reservation and SCSI2 RESERVE/RELEASE support to be completely disabled. This can be useful for scenarios such as: - Ensuring ATS (Compare & Write) usage on recent VMware ESXi initiators. - Allowing clustered (e.g. tcm-user) backends to block such requests, avoiding the multi-node reservation state propagation. When explicitly disabled, PR and RESERVE/RELEASE requests receive Invalid Command Operation Code response sense data. se_dev_entry.lun_flags and se_lun.lun_access are only used for keeping track of read-write vs. read-only state. Since this is an either/or thing we can represent it as bool, and remove the unneeded enum transport_lunflags_table, which is left over from when there were more flags. Change code that uses this enum to just use true/false, and make it clear through variable and param names that true means read-only, false means read-write. 2015-09-11target/qla2xxx: Honor max_data_sg_nents I/O transfer limitNicholas Bellinger
This patch adds an optional fabric driver provided SGL limit that target-core will honor as it's own internal I/O maximum transfer length limit, as exposed by EVPD=0xb0 block limits parameters. This is required for handling cases when host I/O transfer length exceeds the requested EVPD block limits maximum transfer length. The initial user of this logic is qla2xxx, so that we can avoid having to reject I/Os from some legacy FC hosts where EVPD=0xb0 parameters are not honored. When se_cmd payload length exceeds the provided limit in target_check_max_data_sg_nents() code, se_cmd->data_length + se_cmd->prot_length are reset with se_cmd->residual_count plus underflow bit for outgoing TFO response callbacks. It also checks for existing CDB level underflow + overflow and recalculates final residual_count as necessary. Note this patch currently assumes 1:1 mapping of PAGE_SIZE per struct scatterlist entry. 2015-08-18target: Fix handling of small allocation lengths in REPORT LUNSRoland Dreier
REPORT LUNS should not fail just because the allocation length is less than 16. The relevant section of SPC-4 is: 4.2.5.6 Allocation length The ALLOCATION LENGTH field specifies the maximum number of bytes or blocks that an application client has allocated in the Data-In Buffer. The ALLOCATION LENGTH field specifies bytes unless a different requirement is stated in the command definition. An allocation length of zero specifies that no data shall be transferred. This condition shall not be considered an error. So we should just truncate our response rather than return an error.
