The MPI specification defines support for sending MCTP management commands as a passthrough function to the IOC. Add support for driver to discover the IOC capability to support MCTP passthrough function. Driver will support applications and kernel modules to send MPT commands containing the MCTP passthrough request to firmware through an MPI request. 2024-08-22scsi: Expand all create*_workqueue() invocationsBart Van Assche
The workqueue maintainer wants to remove the create*_workqueue() macros because these macros always set the WQ_MEM_RECLAIM flag and because these only support literal workqueue names. Hence this patch that replaces the create*_workqueue() invocations with the definition of this macro. The WQ_MEM_RECLAIM flag has been retained because I think that flag is necessary for workqueues created by storage drivers. There is a potential out-of-bounds access when using test_bit() on a single word. The test_bit() and set_bit() functions operate on long values, and when testing or setting a single word, they can exceed the word boundary. 2024-05-31scsi: mpt3sas: Avoid possible run-time warning with long manufacturer stringsKees Cook
The prior strscpy() replacement of strncpy() here expected the manufacture_reply strings to be NUL-terminated, but it is possible they are not, as the code pattern here shows, e.g., edev->vendor_id being exactly 1 character larger than manufacture_reply->vendor_id, and the replaced strncpy() was copying only up to the size of the source character array. Replace this with memtostr(), which is the unambiguous way to convert a maybe not-NUL-terminated character array into a NUL-terminated string. 2024-02-26scsi: mpt3sas: Prevent sending diag_reset when the controller is readyRanjan Kumar
If the driver detects that the controller is not ready before sending the first IOC facts command, it will wait for a maximum of 10 seconds for it to become ready. However, even if the controller becomes ready within 10 seconds, the driver will still issue a diagnostic reset. Modify the driver to avoid sending a diag reset if the controller becomes ready within the 10-second wait time. 2023-11-15scsi: mpt3sas: Remove the iounit_pg8 member of the per-adapter structJames Seo
The per-adapter struct (struct MPT3SAS_ADAPTER) contains a MPI2_CONFIG_PAGE_IO_UNIT_8 (Mpi2IOUnitPage8_t) iounit_pg8 member that is populated by mpt3sas_base.c:_base_static_config_pages(). As the name of that function indicates, the iounit_pg8 member represents a static configuration page data structure that rarely changes, and is among several such static config pages that are currently being fetched once per adapter per init (or reset) and copied to the per-adapter struct for later use. However, unlike the other static config pages, the iounit_pg8 member is never actually used outside of _base_static_config_pages(). Also, Mpi2IOUnitPage8_t has a flexible array member, making its presence in the _middle_ of the per-adapter struct rather strange. Remove this member from the per-adapter struct and fix up the portion of _base_static_config_pages() that uses it. 2023-08-30scsi: mpt3sas: Perform additional retries if doorbell read returns 0Ranjan Kumar
The driver retries certain register reads 3 times if the returned value is 0. This was done because the controller could return 0 for certain registers if other registers were being accessed concurrently by the BMC. In certain systems with increased BMC interactions, the register values returned can be 0 for longer than 3 retries. Change the retry count from 3 to 30 for the affected registers to prevent problems with out-of-band management. 2023-03-09scsi: mpt3sas: Drop redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting()Bjorn Helgaas
pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() enables the device to send ERR_* Messages. Since commit f26e58bf6f54 ("PCI/AER: Enable error reporting when AER is native"), the PCI core does this for all devices during enumeration, so the driver doesn't need to do it itself. Remove the redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() call from the driver. Also remove the corresponding pci_disable_pcie_error_reporting() from the driver .remove() path. Note that this only controls ERR_* Messages from the device. An ERR_* Message may cause the Root Port to generate an interrupt, depending on the AER Root Error Command register managed by the AER service driver. Nevertheless, gcc complains because the whole Mpi2SasIOUnitPage1_t struct is 32 bytes in size and thus doesn't fit into those 20 bytes. This patch simply allocates all 32 bytes (instead of 20) and thus avoids the warning. There is no functional change introduced by this patch. While touching the code I cleaned up to calculation of max_wideport_qd, max_narrowport_qd and max_sata_qd to make it easier readable. Test successfully tested on a HP C8000 PA-RISC workstation with 64-bit kernel.
