2025-05-16ptp: ocp: Limit signal/freq counts in summary output functionsSagi Maimon
The debugfs summary output could access uninitialized elements in the freq_in[] and signal_out[] arrays, causing NULL pointer dereferences and triggering a kernel Oops (page_fault_oops). This patch adds u8 fields (nr_freq_in, nr_signal_out) to track the number of initialized elements, with a maximum of 4 per array. The summary output functions are updated to respect these limits, preventing out-of-bounds access and ensuring safe array handling. Widen the label variables because the change confuses GCC about max length of the strings. 2025-05-01ptp: ocp: Fix NULL dereference in Adva board SMA sysfs operationsSagi Maimon
On Adva boards, SMA sysfs store/get operations can call __handle_signal_outputs() or __handle_signal_inputs() while the `irig` and `dcf` pointers are uninitialized, leading to a NULL pointer dereference in __handle_signal() and causing a kernel crash. Adva boards don't use `irig` or `dcf` functionality, so add Adva-specific callbacks `ptp_ocp_sma_adva_set_outputs()` and `ptp_ocp_sma_adva_set_inputs()` that avoid invoking `irig` or `dcf` input/output routines. 2025-04-29ptp: ocp: Add const to bp->attr_group allocation typeKees Cook
In preparation for making the kmalloc family of allocators type aware, we need to make sure that the returned type from the allocation matches the type of the variable being assigned. (Before, the allocator would always return "void *", which can be implicitly cast to any pointer type.) The assigned type is "const struct attribute_group **", but the returned type, while technically matching, will be not const qualified. As there is no general way to safely add const qualifiers, adjust the allocation type to match the assignment. 2025-04-16ptp: ocp: fix start time alignment in ptp_ocp_signal_setSagi Maimon
In ptp_ocp_signal_set, the start time for periodic signals is not aligned to the next period boundary. The current code rounds up the start time and divides by the period but fails to multiply back by the period, causing misaligned signal starts. 2025-03-20ptp: ocp: reject unsupported periodic output flagsJacob Keller
The ptp_ocp_signal_from_perout() function supports PTP_PEROUT_DUTY_CYCLE and PTP_PEROUT_PHASE. It does not support PTP_PEROUT_ONE_SHOT, but does not reject a request with such an unsupported flag. Add the appropriate check to ensure that unsupported requests are rejected both for PTP_PEROUT_ONE_SHOT as well as any future flags. Kernel panic - not syncing: Oops - BUG: Fatal exception This happens because pps_device_destruct() frees the pps_device with the embedded cdev immediately after calling cdev_del(), but, as the comment above cdev_del() notes, fops for previously opened cdevs are still callable even after cdev_del() returns. I think this bug has always been there: I can't explain why it suddenly started happening every time I reboot this particular board. In commit d953e0e837e6 ("pps: Fix a use-after free bug when unregistering a source."), George Spelvin suggested removing the embedded cdev. That seems like the simplest way to fix this, so I've implemented his suggestion, using __register_chrdev() with pps_idr becoming the source of truth for which minor corresponds to which device. But now that pps_idr defines userspace visibility instead of cdev_add(), we need to be sure the pps->dev refcount can't reach zero while userspace can still find it again. 2023-12-13dpll: remove leftover mode_supported() op and use mode_get() insteadJiri Pirko
Mode supported is currently reported to the user exactly the same, as the current mode. That's because mode changing is not implemented. Remove the leftover mode_supported() op and use mode_get() to fill up the supported mode exposed to user. One, if even, mode changing is going to be introduced, this could be very easily taken back. In the meantime, prevent drivers form implementing this in wrong way (as for example recent netdevsim implementation attempt intended to do). 2022-11-30net: devlink: let the core report the driver name instead of the driversVincent Mailhol
The driver name is available in device_driver::name. Right now, drivers still have to report this piece of information themselves in their devlink_ops::info_get callback function. In order to factorize code, make devlink_nl_info_fill() add the driver name attribute. Now that the core sets the driver name attribute, drivers are not supposed to call devlink_info_driver_name_put() anymore. Remove devlink_info_driver_name_put() and clean-up all the drivers using this function in their callback. Previously there was a fallback mode to flash firmware image without proper header. But now we have different supported vendors and flashing wrong image could destroy the hardware. The NTL timecard design has a PPS1 selector which selects the the PPS source automatically, according to Section 1.9 of the documentation. If there is a SMA PPS input detected: - send signal to MAC and PPS slave selector. If there is a MAC PPS input detected: - send GNSS1 to the MAC - send MAC to the PPS slave If there is a GNSS1 input detected: - send GNSS1 to the MAC - send GNSS1 to the PPS slave.MAC Change the debugfs summary so it reflects the correct mapping, for assistance in debugging.
