2025-01-15Input: i8042 - Add support for platform filter contextsArmin Wolf
Currently the platform filter cannot access any driver-specific state which forces drivers installing a i8042 filter to have at least some kind of global pointer for their filter. Allow callers of i8042_install_filter() to submit a context pointer which is then passed to the i8042 filter. This frees drivers from the responsibility of having to manage this global pointer themself. Also introduce a separate type for the i8042 filter (i8042_filter_t) so that the function definitions can stay compact. Tested on a Dell Inspiron 3505. 2025-01-03platform/x86: dell-laptop: Use power_supply_charge_types_show/_parse() helpersHans de Goede
Make battery_modes a map between tokens and enum power_supply_charge_type values instead of between tokens and strings and use the new power_supply_charge_types_show/_parse() helpers for show()/store() to ensure that things are handled in the same way as in other drivers. This also changes battery_supported_modes to be a bitmap of charge-types (enum power_supply_charge_type values) rather then a bitmap of indices into battery_modes[]. 2024-10-06platform/x86: dell-laptop: Do not fail when encountering unsupported batteriesArmin Wolf
If the battery hook encounters a unsupported battery, it will return an error. This in turn will cause the battery driver to automatically unregister the battery hook. On machines with multiple batteries however, this will prevent the battery hook from handling the primary battery, since it will always get unregistered upon encountering one of the unsupported batteries. Fix this by simply ignoring unsupported batteries. 2024-09-04platform/x86:dell-laptop: remove duplicate code w/ battery functionAndres Salomon
The dell battery patch added dell_send_request_for_tokenid() and dell_set_std_token_value(), which encapsulates a very common pattern when SMBIOS queries are addressed to token->location. This calls them in various places outside of the dell laptop code, allowing us to delete a bunch of code. Also some very minor cleanups: - mark the kbd init functions as __init - don't read buffer.output unless dell_send_request() was successful. - actually return errors from micmute_led_set/mute_led_set instead of always returning 0. Only minor behavior changes; the delayed read of buffer.output and actually returning errors for the brightness_set_blocking hooks. 2024-09-04platform/x86:dell-laptop: Add knobs to change battery charge settingsAndres Salomon
The Dell BIOS allows you to set custom charging modes, which is useful in particular for extending battery life. This adds support for tweaking those various settings from Linux via sysfs knobs. One might, for example, have their laptop plugged into power at their desk the vast majority of the time and choose fairly aggressive battery-saving settings (eg, only charging once the battery drops below 50% and only charging up to 80%). When leaving for a trip, it would be more useful to instead switch to a standard charging mode (top off at 100%, charge any time power is available). Rebooting into the BIOS to change the charging mode settings is a hassle. For the Custom charging type mode, we reuse the common charge_control_{start,end}_threshold sysfs power_supply entries. The BIOS also has a bunch of other charging modes (with varying levels of usefulness), so this also adds a 'charge_type' sysfs entry that maps the standard values to Dell-specific ones. This work is based on a patch by Perry Yuan <perry_yuan@dell.com> and Limonciello Mario <Mario_Limonciello@Dell.com> submitted back in 2020. Hans de Goede: s/charge_type/charge_types/ since charge_types_show() used the new charge_types power-supply property output format. 2024-01-24platform/x86: remove obsolete calls to ledtrig_audio_getHeiner Kallweit
Since 64f67b5240db ("leds: trigger: audio: Add an activate callback to ensure the initial brightness is set") the audio triggers have an activate callback which sets the LED brightness as soon as the (default) trigger is bound to the LED device. So we can remove the call to ledtrig_audio_get. Positive side effect: There's no code dependency to ledtrig-audio any longer, what allows to remove some Kconfig dependencies. 2021-06-16platform/x86: dell-privacy: Add support for Dell hardware privacyPerry Yuan
add support for Dell privacy driver for the Dell units equipped hardware privacy design, which protect users privacy of audio and camera from hardware level. Once the audio or camera privacy mode activated, any applications will not get any audio or video stream when user pressed ctrl+F4 hotkey, audio privacy mode will be enabled, micmute led will be also changed accordingly The micmute led is fully controlled by hardware & EC(embedded controller) and camera mute hotkey is Ctrl+F9. Currently design only emits SW_CAMERA_LENS_COVER event while the camera lens shutter will be changed by EC & HW(hardware) control *The flow is like this: 1) User presses key. HW does stuff with this key (timeout timer is started) 2) WMI event is emitted from BIOS to kernel 3) WMI event is received by dell-privacy 4) KEY_MICMUTE emitted from dell-privacy 5) Userland picks up key and modifies kcontrol for SW mute 6) Codec kernel driver catches and calls ledtrig_audio_set 7) dell-privacy notifies EC, the timeout is cancelled and the HW mute is activated. If the EC is not notified then the HW mic mute will activate when the timeout triggers, just a bit later than with the active ack.
