2025-06-19net: lan743x: fix potential out-of-bounds write in ↵Alexey Kodanev
lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get() Before calling lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get(), the 'channel' value is checked against the maximum value of PCI11X1X_PTP_IO_MAX_CHANNELS(8). This seems correct and aligns with the PTP interrupt status register (PTP_INT_STS) specifications. However, lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get() writes to ptp->extts[] with only LAN743X_PTP_N_EXTTS(4) elements, using channel as an index: lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get(..., u8 channel,...) { ... /* Update Local timestamp */ extts = &ptp->extts[channel]; extts->ts.tv_sec = sec; ... } To avoid an out-of-bounds write and utilize all the supported GPIO inputs, set LAN743X_PTP_N_EXTTS to 8. Detected using the static analysis tool - Svace. 2025-05-15net: lan743x: implement ndo_hwtstamp_get()Vladimir Oltean
Permit programs such as "hwtstamp_ctl -i eth0" to retrieve the current timestamping configuration of the NIC, rather than returning "Device driver does not have support for non-destructive SIOCGHWTSTAMP." The driver configures all channels with the same timestamping settings. On TX, retrieve the settings of the first channel, those should be representative for the entire NIC. On RX, save the filter settings in a new adapter field. 2025-05-15net: lan743x: convert to ndo_hwtstamp_set()Vladimir Oltean
New timestamping API was introduced in commit 66f7223039c0 ("net: add NDOs for configuring hardware timestamping") from kernel v6.6. It is time to convert the lan743x driver to the new API, so that timestamping configuration can be removed from the ndo_eth_ioctl() path completely. 2024-05-06net: microchip: lan743x: Reduce PTP timeout on HW failureRengarajan S
The PTP_CMD_CTL is a self clearing register which controls the PTP clock values. In the current implementation driver waits for a duration of 20 sec in case of HW failure to clear the PTP_CMD_CTL register bit. This timeout of 20 sec is very long to recognize a HW failure, as it is typically cleared in one clock(<16ns). Hence reducing the timeout to 1 sec would be sufficient to conclude if there is any HW failure observed. The usleep_range will sleep somewhere between 1 msec to 20 msec for each iteration. By setting the PTP_CMD_CTL_TIMEOUT_CNT to 50 the max timeout is extended to 1 sec. 2022-03-18net: lan743x: Add support for PTP-IO Event Input External Timestamp (extts)Raju Lakkaraju
PTP-IOs block provides for time stamping PTP-IO input events. PTP-IOs are numbered from 0 to 11. When a PTP-IO is enabled by the corresponding bit in the PTP-IO Capture Configuration Register, a rising or falling edge, respectively, will capture the 1588 Local Time Counter Signed-off-by: Raju Lakkaraju <Raju.Lakkaraju@microchip.com> Reported-by: kernel test robot <lkp@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2019-11-11Support LAN743x PTP periodic output on any GPIOJohn Efstathiades
The LAN743x Ethernet controller provides two independent PTP event channels. Each one can be used to generate a periodic output from the PTP clock. The output can be routed to any one of the available GPIO pins on the device. The PTP clock API can now be used to: - select any LAN743x GPIO pin to function as a periodic output - select either LAN743x PTP event channel to generate the output The LAN7430 has 4 GPIO pins that are multiplexed with its internal PHY LED control signals. A pin assigned to the LED control function will be assigned to the GPIO function if selected for PTP periodic output.
