2025-06-08treewide, timers: Rename from_timer() to timer_container_of()Ingo Molnar
Move this API to the canonical timer_*() namespace. [ tglx: Redone against pre rc1 ] Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/all/aB2X0jCKQO56WdMt@gmail.com
2025-04-05treewide: Switch/rename to timer_delete[_sync]()Thomas Gleixner
timer_delete[_sync]() replaces del_timer[_sync](). Convert the whole tree over and remove the historical wrapper inlines. Conversion was done with coccinelle plus manual fixups where necessary. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@kernel.org>
2025-02-06IB/hfi1: Remove state transition log message and opa_lstate_name()Maher Sanalla
Remove the state transition log message from the hfi1 driver, as the IB core now logs the same information when handling a cache update event. While at it, replace the hfi1-specific opa_lstate_name() function with the ib_verbs equivalent function, ib_port_state_to_str(), for converting IB port state to a string. 2024-10-08IB/hfi1: make clear_all_interrupts staticDr. David Alan Gilbert
clear_all_interrupts() in hw/hfi1/chip.c is currently global but only used in the same file, so make it static. There are also 'clear_all_interrupts' functions in i2c-nomadik and emif.c but fortunately they're already static. 2024-07-15IB/hfi1: Constify struct flag_tableChristophe JAILLET

2023-10-25IB/hfi1: Fix potential deadlock on &irq_src_lock and &dd->uctxt_lockChengfeng Ye
handle_receive_interrupt_napi_sp() running inside interrupt handler could introduce inverse lock ordering between &dd->irq_src_lock and &dd->uctxt_lock, if read_mod_write() is preempted by the isr. [CPU0] | [CPU1] hfi1_ipoib_dev_open() | --> hfi1_netdev_enable_queues() | --> enable_queues(rx) | --> hfi1_rcvctrl() | --> set_intr_bits() | --> read_mod_write() | --> spin_lock(&dd->irq_src_lock) | | hfi1_poll() | --> poll_next() | --> spin_lock_irq(&dd->uctxt_lock) | | --> hfi1_rcvctrl() | --> set_intr_bits() | --> read_mod_write() | --> spin_lock(&dd->irq_src_lock) <interrupt> | --> handle_receive_interrupt_napi_sp() | --> set_all_fastpath() | --> hfi1_rcd_get_by_index() | --> spin_lock_irqsave(&dd->uctxt_lock) | This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock. To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch use spin_lock_irqsave() on &dd->irq_src_lock inside read_mod_write() to prevent the possible deadlock scenario. 2023-09-22IB/hfi1: Replace deprecated strncpyJustin Stitt
`strncpy` is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string interfaces. We see that `buf` is expected to be NUL-terminated based on it's use within a trace event wherein `is_misc_err_name` and `is_various_name` map to `is_name` through `is_table`: | TRACE_EVENT(hfi1_interrupt, | TP_PROTO(struct hfi1_devdata *dd, const struct is_table *is_entry, | int src), | TP_ARGS(dd, is_entry, src), | TP_STRUCT__entry(DD_DEV_ENTRY(dd) | __array(char, buf, 64) | __field(int, src) | ), | TP_fast_assign(DD_DEV_ASSIGN(dd); | is_entry->is_name(__entry->buf, 64, | src - is_entry->start); | __entry->src = src; | ), | TP_printk("[%s] source: %s [%d]", __get_str(dev), __entry->buf, | __entry->src) | ); Considering the above, a suitable replacement is `strscpy_pad` due to the fact that it guarantees NUL-termination on the destination buffer while maintaining the NUL-padding behavior that strncpy provides. 2021-04-13IB/hfi1: Rework AIP and VNIC dummy netdev usageMike Marciniszyn
All other users of the dummy netdevice embed the netdev in other structures: init_dummy_netdev(&mal->dummy_dev); init_dummy_netdev(&eth->dummy_dev); init_dummy_netdev(&ar->napi_dev); init_dummy_netdev(&irq_grp->napi_ndev); init_dummy_netdev(&wil->napi_ndev); init_dummy_netdev(&trans_pcie->napi_dev); init_dummy_netdev(&dev->napi_dev); init_dummy_netdev(&bus->mux_dev); The AIP and VNIC implementation turns that model inside out and used a kfree() to free what appears to be a netdev struct when in reality, it is a struct that enbodies the rx state as well as the dummy netdev used to support napi_poll across disparate receive contexts. The relationship is infered by the odd allocation: const int netdev_size = sizeof(*dd->dummy_netdev) + sizeof(struct hfi1_netdev_priv); <snip> dd->dummy_netdev = kcalloc_node(1, netdev_size, GFP_KERNEL, dd->node); Correct the issue by: - Correctly naming the alloc and free functions - Renaming hfi1_netdev_priv to hfi1_netdev_rx - Replacing dd dummy_netdev with a netdev_rx pointer - Embedding the net_device in hfi1_netdev_rx - Moving the init_dummy_netdev to the alloc routine - Adjusting wrappers to fit the new model Fixes: 6991abcb993c ("IB/hfi1: Add functions to receive accelerated ipoib packets") Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1617026056-50483-11-git-send-email-dennis.dalessandro@cornelisnetworks.com Reviewed-by: Kaike Wan <kaike.wan@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Mike Marciniszyn <mike.marciniszyn@cornelisnetworks.com> Signed-off-by: Dennis Dalessandro <dennis.dalessandro@cornelisnetworks.com> Signed-off-by: Jason Gunthorpe <jgg@nvidia.com>

2020-05-21IB/hfi1: Activate the dummy netdevGrzegorz Andrejczuk
As described in earlier patches, ipoib netdev will share receive contexts with existing VNIC netdev through a dummy netdev. The following changes are made to achieve that: - Set up netdev receive contexts after user contexts. A function is added to count the available netdev receive contexts. - Add functions to set/get receive map table free index. - Rename NUM_VNIC_MAP_ENTRIES as NUM_NETDEV_MAP_ENTRIES. - Let the dummy netdev own the receive contexts instead of VNIC. - Allocate the dummy netdev when the hfi1 device is added and free it when the device is removed. - Initialize AIP RSM rules when the IpoIb rxq is initialized and remove the rules when it is de-initialized. - Convert VNIC to use the dummy netdev. 2020-05-21IB/hfi1: RSM rules for AIPGrzegorz Andrejczuk
This is implementation of RSM rule for AIP packets. AIP rule will use rule RSM2 and will match standard Infiniband packet containg BTH (LNH==BTH) and having Dest QPN prefixed with value 0x81. Spread between receive contexts will be done using source QPN bits. VNIC and AIP will share receive contexts, so their rules will point to the same RMT entries and their shared code is moved to separate functions. If any of the rules is active RMT mapping will be skipped for latter. Changed function hfi1_vnic_is_rsm_full to be more general and moved it from main header to chip.c. Changed the order of RSM rules because AIP rule as more specific one is needed to be placed before more general QOS rule. Rules are occupying two last RSM registers. 2019-04-08drivers: Remove explicit invocations of mmiowb()Will Deacon
mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was generated using coccinelle: @mmiowb@ @@ - mmiowb(); and invoked as: $ for d in drivers include/linux/qed sound; do \ spatch --include-headers --sp-file mmiowb.cocci --dir $d --in-place; done NOTE: mmiowb() has only ever guaranteed ordering in conjunction with spin_unlock(). However, pairing each mmiowb() removal in this patch with the corresponding call to spin_unlock() is not at all trivial, so there is a small chance that this change may regress any drivers incorrectly relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64 systems. 2019-04-03IB/hfi1: Implement CCA for TID RDMA protocolKaike Wan
Currently, FECN handling is not implemented on TID RDMA expected receive packets and therefore CCA can't be turned on when TID RDMA is enabled. This patch adds the CCA support to TID RDMA protocol by: - modifying FECN RSM rule to include kernel receive contexts - For TID_RDMA READ RESP or TID RDMA ACK packet, a CNP will be sent out if the FECN bit is set. For other TID RDMA packets that generate at least one response packet, the BECN bit will be set in the first response packet - Copying expected packet data to destination buffer when FECN bit is set in the TID RDMA READ RESP or TID RDMA WRITE DATA packet. In this case, the expected packet is received as an eager packet - Handling the TID sequence error for subsequent normal expected packets. 2019-03-27IB/hfi1: Fix the allocation of RSM tableKaike Wan
The receive side mapping (RSM) on hfi1 hardware is a special matching mechanism to direct an incoming packet to a given hardware receive context. It has 4 instances of matching capabilities (RSM0 - RSM3) that share the same RSM table (RMT). The RMT has a total of 256 entries, each of which points to a receive context. Currently, three instances of RSM have been used: 1. RSM0 by QOS; 2. RSM1 by PSM FECN; 3. RSM2 by VNIC. Each RSM instance should reserve enough entries in RMT to function properly. Since both PSM and VNIC could allocate any receive context between dd->first_dyn_alloc_ctxt and dd->num_rcv_contexts, PSM FECN must reserve enough RMT entries to cover the entire receive context index range (dd->num_rcv_contexts - dd->first_dyn_alloc_ctxt) instead of only the user receive contexts allocated for PSM (dd->num_user_contexts). Consequently, the sizing of dd->num_user_contexts in set_up_context_variables is incorrect.
