2025-04-22iio: normalize array sentinel styleDavid Lechner
Use `\t(\{ ?\},|\{\}|\{\s*/\*.*\*/\s*\},?)$` regex to find and replace the array sentinel in all IIO drivers to the same style. For some time, we've been trying to consistently use `{ }` (no trailing comma, no comment, one space between braces) for array sentinels in the IIO subsystem. Still nearly 50% of existing code uses a different style. To save reviewers from having to request this trivial change as frequently, let's normalize the style in all existing IIO drivers. At least when code is copy/pasted to new drivers, the style will be consistent. 2023-07-29iio: potentiometer: mcp4018: Use i2c_get_match_data()Biju Das
Replace of_device_get_match_data() and i2c_match_id() by i2c_get_match _data() by making similar I2C and DT-based matching table. 2023-05-21iio: Switch i2c drivers back to use .probe()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new() call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then 03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from struct i2c_driver. 2020-09-21iio:potentiometer:mcp4018: Drop of_match_ptr and CONFIG_OF protections.Jonathan Cameron
These prevent use of this driver with ACPI via PRP0001 and are an example of an anti pattern I'm trying to remove from IIO. Also use device_get_match_data() rather than devicetree only version. 2020-06-14iio: remove explicit IIO device parent assignmentAlexandru Ardelean
This patch applies the semantic patch: @@ expression I, P, SP; @@ I = devm_iio_device_alloc(P, SP); ... - I->dev.parent = P; It updates 302 files and does 307 deletions. This semantic patch also removes some comments like '/* Establish that the iio_dev is a child of the i2c device */' But this is is only done in case where the block is left empty. The patch does not seem to cover all cases. It looks like in some cases a different variable is used in some cases to assign the parent, but it points to the same reference. In other cases, the block covered by ... may be just too big to be covered by the semantic patch. However, this looks pretty good as well, as it does cover a big bulk of the drivers that should remove the parent assignment. 2018-08-19iio: potentiometer: merge calls to of_match_device and of_device_get_match_dataJulia Lawall
Drop call to of_match_device, which is subsumed by the subsequent call to of_device_get_match_data. The code becomes simpler, and a temporary variable can be dropped. The semantic match that makes this change is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @r@ local idexpression match; identifier i; expression x, dev, e, e1; @@ - match@i = of_match_device(x, dev); - if (match) e = of_device_get_match_data(dev); - else e = e1; + e = of_device_get_match_data(dev); + if (!e) e = e1; @@ identifier r.i; @@ - const struct of_device_id *i; ... when != i // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <Julia.Lawall@lip6.fr> Reviewed-by: Peter Rosin <peda@axentia.se> Signed-off-by: Jonathan Cameron <Jonathan.Cameron@huawei.com>
