2025-07-05drm/msm: move KMS driver data to msm_kmsDmitry Baryshkov
Data for HDMI, DSI and DP blocks only makes sense for the KMS parts of the driver. Move corresponding data pointers from struct msm_drm_private to struct msm_kms. 2025-05-12drm/msm/hdmi: wire in hpd_enable/hpd_disable bridge opsDmitry Baryshkov
The HDMI driver already has msm_hdmi_hpd_enable() and msm_hdmi_hpd_disable() functions. Wire them into the msm_hdmi_bridge_funcs, so that HPD can be enabled and disabled dynamically rather than always having HPD events generation enabled. 2025-05-12drm/msm/hdmi: rename hpd_clks to pwr_clksDmitry Baryshkov

2025-03-05drm/msm/hdmi: use DRM HDMI Audio frameworkDmitry Baryshkov
In order to simplify the driver even further and to remove the boilerplate code, rewrite the audio interface to use the DRM HDMI Audio framework. Audio InfoFames are controlled centrally via the DRM HDMI framework. Correct InfoFrame data is programmed at the atomic_pre_enable() time (if it was set before, drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_update_infoframes() takes care of writing all InfoFrames, including the Audio one.) or during msm_hdmi_bridge_audio_prepare() when the new stream is started. All audio data frame management is deferred to msm_hdmi_bridge_audio_prepare() and msm_hdmi_bridge_audio_shutdown(). 2024-12-01Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver structLinus Torvalds
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and is really not helping. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a comment to that effect: /* * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove(). * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped. */ This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with '.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs to make things line up. I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used spaces to line things up. Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this is the end result. No more unnecessary conversion noise. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2023-09-09drm/msm: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert the msm drm drivers from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2023-07-21drm: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2022-09-30drm/msm/hdmi: fix IRQ lifetimeJohan Hovold
Device-managed resources allocated post component bind must be tied to the lifetime of the aggregate DRM device or they will not necessarily be released when binding of the aggregate device is deferred. This is specifically true for the HDMI IRQ, which will otherwise remain requested so that the next bind attempt fails when requesting the IRQ a second time. Fix this by tying the device-managed lifetime of the HDMI IRQ to the DRM device so that it is released when bind fails. 2022-07-04drm/msm/hdmi: drop hpd_regs usage on 8x74/8084Dmitry Baryshkov
The MSM HDMI driver has support for hpd_regs on 8x74/8084: supply regulators that are to be enabled for HPD to work. Currently these regulators contain the hpd_gdsc, which was replaced by the power-domains support and hpd-5v/hpd-5v-en, which are not used by the chip itself. They power up the ESD bridge. However it is a separate device which should be represented separately in the device tree. None of upstreamed devices support these properties. Thus drop support for them from the HDMI driver. 2022-02-18drm/msm/hdmi: Remove spurious IRQF_ONESHOT flagDaniel Thompson
Quoting the header comments, IRQF_ONESHOT is "Used by threaded interrupts which need to keep the irq line disabled until the threaded handler has been run.". When applied to an interrupt that doesn't request a threaded irq then IRQF_ONESHOT has a lesser known (undocumented?) side effect, which it to disable the forced threading of irqs. For "normal" kernels if there is no thread_fn then IRQF_ONESHOT is a nop. In this case disabling forced threading is not appropriate because the driver calls wake_up_all() (via msm_hdmi_i2c_irq) and also directly uses the regular spinlock API for locking (in msm_hdmi_hdcp_irq() ). Neither of these APIs can be called from no-thread interrupt handlers on PREEMPT_RT systems. Fix this by removing IRQF_ONESHOT.
