2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Rename mgag200_i2c.c to mgag200_ddc.cThomas Zimmermann
Rename the source file according to its content. No functional changes. Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Jocelyn Falempe <jfalempe@redhat.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240513125620.6337-8-tzimmermann@suse.de
2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Replace struct mga_i2c_chan with struct mgag200_ddcThomas Zimmermann
Rename struct mga_i2c_chan to struct mgag200_ddc, define it in the source file mgag200_i2c.c, and reorder its fields. Rename all related variables from i2c to ddc. Also rename the i2c adapter accordingly. Using the term 'ddc' documents the purpose of the code clearly. The old term 'i2c' could refer to any functionality on an i2c bus. No functional changes. 2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Inline mgag200_i2c_init()Thomas Zimmermann
The function mgag200_i2c_init() is an internal helper that sets up the i2c data structure. Inline its code into the only caller. Rearrange the individual steps to separate among i2c algorithm, adapter and fields in struct mga_i2c_chan. 2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Allocate instance of struct mga_i2c_chan dynamicallyThomas Zimmermann
Allocate instances of struct mga_i2c_chan in mgag200_ddc_create() and return a pointer to the contained i2c adapter. The callers of the function are now independent from struct mga_i2c_chan. 2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Store pointer to struct mga_device in struct mga_i2c_chanThomas Zimmermann

2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Bind I2C lifetime to DRM deviceThomas Zimmermann
Managed cleanup with devm_add_action_or_reset() will release the I2C adapter when the underlying Linux device goes away. But the connector still refers to it, so this cleanup leaves behind a stale pointer in struct drm_connector.ddc. Bind the lifetime of the I2C adapter to the connector's lifetime by using DRM's managed release. When the DRM device goes away (after the Linux device) DRM will first clean up the connector and then clean up the I2C adapter. 2024-05-17drm/mgag200: Set DDC timeout in millisecondsThomas Zimmermann
Compute the i2c timeout in jiffies from a value in milliseconds. The original values of 2 jiffies equals 2 milliseconds if HZ has been configured to a value of 1000. This corresponds to 2.2 milliseconds used by most other DRM drivers. Update mgag200 accordingly. 2024-01-18drm: remove I2C_CLASS_DDC supportHeiner Kallweit
After removal of the legacy EEPROM driver and I2C_CLASS_DDC support in olpc_dcon there's no i2c client driver left supporting I2C_CLASS_DDC. Class-based device auto-detection is a legacy mechanism and shouldn't be used in new code. So we can remove this class completely now. 2022-05-17drm/mgag200: Fail on I2C initialization errorsThomas Zimmermann
Initialization of the I2C adapter was allowed to fail. The mgag200 driver would have continued without DDC support. Had this happened in practice, it would have led to segmentation faults in the connector code. 2013-03-08drm/mgag200: Bug fix: Renesas board now selects native resolution.Julia Lemire
Renesas boards were consistently defaulting to the 1024x768 resolution, regardless of the native resolution of the monitor plugged in. It was determined that the EDID of the monitor was not being read. Since the DAC is a shared line, in order to read from or write to it we must take control of the DAC clock. This can be done by setting the proper register to one. This bug fix sets the register MGA1064_GEN_IO_CTL2 to one. The DAC control line can be used to determine whether or not a new monitor has been plugged in. But since the hotplug feature is not one we will support, it has been decided to simply leave the register set to one. 2012-10-02UAPI: (Scripted) Remove redundant DRM UAPI header #inclusions from drivers/gpu/.David Howells
Remove redundant DRM UAPI header #inclusions from drivers/gpu/. Remove redundant #inclusions of core DRM UAPI headers (drm.h, drm_mode.h and drm_sarea.h). They are now #included via drmP.h and drm_crtc.h via a preceding patch. Without this patch and the patch to make include the UAPI headers from the core headers, after the UAPI split, the DRM C sources cannot find these UAPI headers because the DRM code relies on specific -I flags to make #include "..." work on headers in include/drm/ - but that does not work after the UAPI split without adding more -I flags. 2012-05-17mgag200: initial g200se driver (v2)Dave Airlie
This is a driver for the G200 server engines chips, it doesn't driver any of the Matrix G series desktop cards. It will bind to G200 SE A,B, G200EV, G200WB, G200EH and G200ER cards. Its based on previous work done my Matthew Garrett but remodelled to follow the same style and flow as the AST server driver. It also works along the same lines as the AST server driver wrt memory management. There is no userspace driver planned, xf86-video-modesetting should be used. It also appears these GPUs have no ARGB hw cursors. v2: add missing tagfifo reset + G200 SE memory bw setup pieces. Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
