2025-07-14drm/bridge: Pass down connector to drm bridge detect hookAndy Yan
In some application scenarios, we hope to get the corresponding connector when the bridge's detect hook is invoked. In most cases, we can get the connector by drm_atomic_get_connector_for_encoder if the encoder attached to the bridge is enabled, however there will still be some scenarios where the detect hook of the bridge is called but the corresponding encoder has not been enabled yet. For instance, this occurs when the device is hot plug in for the first time. Since the call to bridge's detect is initiated by the connector, passing down the corresponding connector directly will make things simpler. 2025-03-20drm/bridge: Add encoder parameter to drm_bridge_funcs.attachMaxime Ripard
The drm_bridge structure contains an encoder pointer that is widely used by bridge drivers. This pattern is largely documented as deprecated in other KMS entities for atomic drivers. However, one of the main use of that pointer is done in attach to just call drm_bridge_attach on the next bridge to add it to the bridge list. While this dereferences the bridge->encoder pointer, it's effectively the same encoder the bridge was being attached to. We can make it more explicit by adding the encoder the bridge is attached to to the list of attach parameters. This also removes the need to dereference bridge->encoder in most drivers. 2024-12-13drm: Drop explicit initialization of struct i2c_device_id::driver_data to 0Uwe Kleine-König
These drivers don't use the driver_data member of struct i2c_device_id, so don't explicitly initialize this member. This prepares putting driver_data in an anonymous union which requires either no initialization or named designators. But it's also a nice cleanup on its own. 2021-10-27drm/bridge: lt9611uxc: Register and attach our DSI device at probeMaxime Ripard
In order to avoid any probe ordering issue, the best practice is to move the secondary MIPI-DSI device registration and attachment to the MIPI-DSI host at probe time. Let's do this. Let's switch to the new devm MIPI-DSI function to register and attach our secondary device. Acked-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Signed-off-by: Maxime Ripard <maxime@cerno.tech> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20211025151536.1048186-10-maxime@cerno.tech
2021-10-06drm/bridge/lontium-lt9611uxc: fix provided connector suportDmitry Baryshkov
- set DRM_CONNECTOR_POLL_HPD as the connector will generate hotplug events on its own - do not call drm_kms_helper_hotplug_event() unless mode_config.funcs pointer is not NULL to remove possible kernel oops. 2021-01-28drm/bridge/lontium-lt9611uxc: move HPD notification out of IRQ handlerDmitry Baryshkov
drm hotplug handling code (drm_client_dev_hotplug()) can wait on mutex, thus delaying further lt9611uxc IRQ events processing. It was observed occasionally during bootups, when drm_client_modeset_probe() was waiting for EDID ready event, which was delayed because IRQ handler was stuck trying to deliver hotplug event. Move hotplug notifications from IRQ handler to separate work to be able to process IRQ events without delays. 2021-01-28drm/bridge/lontium-lt9611uxc: fix get_edid return codeDmitry Baryshkov
Return NULL pointer from get_edid() callback rather than ERR_PTR() pointer, as DRM code does NULL checks rather than IS_ERR(). Also while we are at it, return NULL if getting EDID timed out. 2021-01-28drm/bridge/lontium-lt9611uxc: fix waiting for EDID to become availableDmitry Baryshkov
- Call wake_up() when EDID ready event is received to wake wait_event_interruptible_timeout() - Increase waiting timeout, reading EDID can take longer than 100ms, so let's be on a safe side. 2020-11-07drm: bridge: add support for lontium LT9611UXC bridgeDmitry Baryshkov
Add support for Lontium LT9611UXC HDMI bridge. Lontium LT9611UXC is a DSI to HDMI bridge which supports two DSI ports and I2S port as an input and HDMI port as output. Despite name being similar to LT9611, these devices are different enough to warrant separate driver.
