[WHY] We like to have pretrain for dpia link so that dp and dp tunneling have aligned behavior. The Main difficult for dpia pretrain is that encoder can not get corresponded dpia port when link detection in current implementation. [HOW] 1. create enable/disable dpia output functions for dcn35 encoder and have dpia_id and other necessary info as inputs. 2. dcn35 dpia use the new functions to enable/disable output. 3. have a option to enable/disable the change. 2024-08-20drm/amd/display: Allow UHBR Interop With eDP Supported Link Rates TableMichael Strauss
[WHY] eDP 2.0 is introducing support for UHBR link rates, however current eDP ILR link optimization does not account for UHBR capabilities. Either UHBR capabilities will be provided via the same 128b/132b rate DPCD caps that are currently used on DP2.1, or Table 4-13 may be updated to include UHBR rates. [HOW] Add extra Supported Link Rates table translations for UHBR10/13.5/20. Update eDP link setting optimization search to be aware of 128b/132b DPCD rate caps in order to unblock UHBR on panels with Supported Link Rates table. 2023-11-29drm/amd/display: Simplify brightness initializationCamille Cho
[Why] Remove the brightness cache in DC. It uses a single value to represent the brightness for both SDR and HDR mode. This leads to flash in HDR on/off. It also unconditionally programs brightness as in HDR mode. This may introduce garbage on SDR mode in miniLED panel. [How] Simplify the initialization flow by removing the DC cache and taking what panel has as default. Expand the mechanism for PWM to DPCD Aux to restore cached brightness value generally. 2023-09-26drm/amd/display: switch DC over to the new DRM logging macrosHamza Mahfooz
For multi-GPU systems it is difficult to tell which GPU a particular message is being printed for and that is undesirable because it complicates debugging efforts. Also, the new macros allow us to enable logging for particular parts of the codebase more selectively (since we no longer need to throw everything at DRM_DEBUG_KMS()). So, for the reasons outlined above we should switch to the new macros. We can accomplish this by using the existing DC_LOGGER code to pass around the relevant `struct drm_device` which will be fed to the new macros in logger_types.h. Also, we must get rid of all instances of the DC_LOG_.*() functions that are currently in amdgpu_dm since we don't use the DC logger there and we can simply refer to the macros directly there instead. 2023-03-15drm/amd/display: Fix DP MST sinks removal issueCruise Hung
[Why] In USB4 DP tunneling, it's possible to have this scenario that the path becomes unavailable and CM tears down the path a little bit late. So, in this case, the HPD is high but fails to read any DPCD register. That causes the link connection type to be set to sst. And not all sinks are removed behind the MST branch. [How] Restore the link connection type if it fails to read DPCD register. 2023-03-14drm/amd/display: convert link.h functions to function pointer styleWenjing Liu
[Why & How] All dc subcomponents should call another dc component via function pointers stored in a component structure. This is part of dc coding convention since the beginning. The reason behind this is to improve encapsulation and polymorphism. The function contract is extracted into a single link service structure defined in link.h header file and implemented only in link_factory.c instead of spreading across multiple files in link component file structure. 2023-02-14drm/amd/display: move public dc link function implementation to dc_link_exportsWenjing Liu
[why] Link is a subcomponent in dc. DM should be aware of dc link structure as one of the abstracted objects maintained by dc. However it should have no idea of the existence of a link component in dc dedicated to maintain the states of dc link structure. As such we are moving link interfaces out of dc_link.h and directly added to dc.h. We are grandually fading out the explicit inclusion of dc_link header and eventually delete it. On dc side, since link is a subcomponent behind dc interfaces, it is not a good idea to implement dc interfaces in each individual subcomponent of link which is already a subcomponent of dc. So we are decoupling it by implementing a dc_link_exports in dc. This file will be a thin translation layer that breaks the dependency so link is able to make interface changes without breaking DM. [why] We mistakenly toggle dpms state for non master pipe when handling link lost. A non master pipe doesn't connect to a backend. So it is toggling dpms for non master is undefined and caused NULL pointer dereference. [how] Add helper functions to find an array of active master pipes for current link and only toggle DPMS for active master pipes connected to the link. Add assert in case we get called to program dpms with non master pipe. [why] dc_link contains over 30k line of code, the decision is to break it down to files residing in link folder based on functionality. This change is the last break down change which will remove dc_link.c file after everything is broken down. [how] Move remaining dc_link.c functions into link_detection, link_dpms, link_validation, link_resource, and link_fpga and remove dc_link.
