2025-06-03drm/amd/display: replace fast_validate with enum dc_validate_modeYan Li
[Why] The boolean fast_validate is used as an input parameter in multiple functions. To support more scenarios, we are replacing it with enum dc_validate_mode. [How] The enum dc_validate_mode introduces three possible values: 1) DC_VALIDATE_MODE_AND_PROGRAMMING: Apply the mode to hardware 2) DC_VALIDATE_MODE_ONLY: Check whether the mode can be supported 3) DC_VALIDATE_MODE_AND_STATE_INDEX: Check if the mode can be supported, and determine the optimal voltage level needed to support it. 2025-03-05drm/amd/display: fix type mismatch in CalculateDynamicMetadataParameters()Vitaliy Shevtsov
There is a type mismatch between what CalculateDynamicMetadataParameters() takes and what is passed to it. Currently this function accepts several args as signed long but it's called with unsigned integers and integer. On some systems where long is 32 bits and one of these unsigned int params is greater than INT_MAX it may cause passing input params as negative values. Fix this by changing these argument types from long to unsigned int and to int respectively. Also this will align the function's definition with similar functions in other dcn* drivers. 2024-06-05drm/amd/display: Move fpo_in_use to stream_statusAlvin Lee
[Description] Refactor code and move fpo_in_use into stream_status to avoid unexpected changes to previous dc_state (i.e., current_state). Since stream pointers are shared between current and new dc_states, updating parameters of one stream will update the other as well which causes unexpected behaviors (i.e., checking that fpo_in_use isn't set in previous state and set in the new state is invalid). 2024-01-15drm/amd/display: Ensure populate uclk in bb constructionAlvin Lee
[Description] - For some SKUs, the optimal DCFCLK for each UCLK is less than the smallest DCFCLK STA target due to low memory bandwidth. There is an assumption that the DCFCLK STA targets will always be less than one of the optimal DCFCLK values, but this is not true for SKUs that have low memory bandwidth. 2022-10-24drm/amd/display: Remove FPU guards from the DML folderRodrigo Siqueira
As part of the programming expectation for using DML functions, DC requires that any DML function invoked outside DML uses: DC_FP_START(); ... dml function ... DC_FP_END(); Additionally, all the DML functions that can be invoked outside the DML folder call the function dc_assert_fp_enabled(), which is responsible for triggering a warning in the case that the DML function was not guarded by the DC_FP_START/END. 2022-09-13drm/amd/display: Mark dml30's UseMinimumDCFCLK() as noinline for stack usageNathan Chancellor
This function consumes a lot of stack space and it blows up the size of dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull() with clang: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/dml/dcn30/display_mode_vba_30.c:3542:6: error: stack frame size (2200) exceeds limit (2048) in 'dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than] void dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull(struct display_mode_lib *mode_lib) ^ 1 error generated. Commit a0f7e7f759cf ("drm/amd/display: fix i386 frame size warning") aimed to address this for i386 but it did not help x86_64. To reduce the amount of stack space that dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull() uses, mark UseMinimumDCFCLK() as noinline, using the _for_stack variant for documentation. While this will increase the total amount of stack usage between the two functions (1632 and 1304 bytes respectively), it will make sure both stay below the limit of 2048 bytes for these files. The aforementioned change does help reduce UseMinimumDCFCLK()'s stack usage so it should not be reverted in favor of this change. bounding box [Why] This is a global parameter, not a per pipe parameter and it's useful for experimenting with the prefetch schedule to be adjustable from the SOC bb. [How] Add a parameter to the SOC bb, default is the existing policy for all DCN. Fill it in when filling SOC bb parameters.
