2025-06-17dmaengine: apple-admac: Drop default ARCH_APPLE in KconfigSven Peter
When the first driver for Apple Silicon was upstreamed we accidentally included `default ARCH_APPLE` in its Kconfig which then spread to almost every subsequent driver. As soon as ARCH_APPLE is set to y this will pull in many drivers as built-ins which is not what we want. Thus, drop `default ARCH_APPLE` from Kconfig. Adds driver to enable PCIe board which uses AMD QDMA (the Queue-based Direct Memory Access) subsystem. For example, Xilinx Alveo V70 AI Accelerator devices. https://www.xilinx.com/applications/data-center/v70.html The QDMA subsystem is used in conjunction with the PCI Express IP block to provide high performance data transfer between host memory and the card's DMA subsystem. +-------+ +-------+ +-----------+ PCIe | | | | | | Tx/Rx | | | | AXI | | <=======> | PCIE | <===> | QDMA | <====>| User Logic| | | | | | | +-------+ +-------+ +-----------+ The primary mechanism to transfer data using the QDMA is for the QDMA engine to operate on instructions (descriptors) provided by the host operating system. Using the descriptors, the QDMA can move data in both the Host to Card (H2C) direction, or the Card to Host (C2H) direction. The QDMA provides a per-queue basis option whether DMA traffic goes to an AXI4 memory map (MM) interface or to an AXI4-Stream interface. 2024-06-11dmaengine: fsl-edma: avoid linking both modulesArnd Bergmann
Kbuild does not support having a source file compiled multiple times and linked into distinct modules, or built-in and modular at the same time. For fs-edma, there are two common components that are linked into the fsl-edma.ko for Arm and PowerPC, plus the mcf-edma.ko module on Coldfire. This violates the rule for compile-testing: scripts/Makefile.build:236: drivers/dma/Makefile: fsl-edma-common.o is added to multiple modules: fsl-edma mcf-edma scripts/Makefile.build:236: drivers/dma/Makefile: fsl-edma-trace.o is added to multiple modules: fsl-edma mcf-edma I tried splitting out the common parts into a separate modules, but that adds back the complexity that a cleanup patch removed, and it gets harder with the addition of the tracepoints. As a minimal workaround, address it at the Kconfig level, by disallowing the broken configurations. 2022-11-11dmaengine: at_hdmac: Convert driver to use virt-dmaTudor Ambarus
Convert the driver to use the core virt-dma. The driver will be easier to maintain as it uses the list handling and the tasklet from virt-dma. With the conversion replace the election of a new transfer in the tasklet with the election of the new transfer in the interrupt handler. With this we have a shorter idle window as we remove the scheduling latency of the tasklet. I chose to do this while doing the conversion to virt-dma, because if I made a prerequisite patch with the new transfer election in the irq handler, I would have to duplicate some virt-dma code in the at_hdmac driver that would end up being removed at the virt-dma conversion anyway. So do this in a single step. 2022-09-05dmaengine: dw-axi-dmac: Drop obsolete dependency on COMPILE_TESTJean Delvare
Since commit 0166dc11be91 ("of: make CONFIG_OF user selectable"), it is possible to test-build any driver which depends on OF on any architecture by explicitly selecting OF. Therefore depending on COMPILE_TEST as an alternative is no longer needed. It is actually better to always build such drivers with OF enabled, so that the test builds are closer to how each driver will actually be built on its intended target. Building them without OF may not test much as the compiler will optimize out potentially large parts of the code. In the worst case, this could even pop false positive warnings. Dropping COMPILE_TEST here improves the quality of our testing and avoids wasting time on non-existent issues. 2021-07-21dmaengine: idxd: move dsa_drv support to compatible modeDave Jiang
The original architecture of /sys/bus/dsa invented a scheme whereby a single entry in the list of bus drivers, /sys/bus/drivers/dsa, handled all device types and internally routed them to different different drivers. Those internal drivers were invisible to userspace. With the idxd driver transitioned to a proper bus device-driver model, the legacy behavior needs to be preserved due to it being exposed to user space via sysfs. Create a compat driver to provide the legacy behavior for /sys/bus/dsa/drivers/dsa. This should satisfy user tool accel-config v3.2 or ealier where this behavior is expected. If the distro has a newer accel-config then the legacy mode does not need to be enabled. When the compat driver binds the device (i.e. dsa0) to the dsa driver, it will be bound to the new idxd_drv. The wq device (i.e. wq0.0) will be bound to either the dmaengine_drv or the user_drv. The dsa_drv becomes a routing mechansim for the new drivers. It will not support additional external drivers that are implemented later.
