2025-06-05accel/ivpu: Use dma_resv_lock() instead of a custom mutexJacek Lawrynowicz
This fixes a potential race conditions in: - ivpu_bo_unbind_locked() where we modified the shmem->sgt without holding the dma_resv_lock(). - ivpu_bo_print_info() where we read the shmem->pages without holding the dma_resv_lock(). 2025-02-10accel/ivpu: Allow to import single buffer into multiple contextsTomasz Rusinowicz
Use ivpu_gem_prime_import() based on drm_gem_prime_import_dev() for importing buffers, removing optimization for same device imports. This optimization reused the same ivpu_bo object in multiple contexts but a single buffer can be MMU-mapped only to a single context. Each import now creates a new instance of ivpu_bo object that shares the same sg_table but have separate MMU mappings. 2024-02-19accel/ivpu: Refactor BO creation functionsWachowski, Karol
Rename BO allocate/create functions, so the code is more consistent. There are now two matching buffer creation functions: - ivpu_bo_create_ioctl() - create a BO from user space - ivpu_bo_create() - create a BO from kernel space ivpu_bo_alloc() is now only used to allocate struct ivpu_bo which better matches its name. 2024-01-22accel/ivpu: Disable buffer sharing among VPU contextsJacek Lawrynowicz
This was not supported properly. A buffer was imported to another VPU context as a separate buffer object with duplicated sgt. Both exported and imported buffers could be DMA mapped causing a double mapping on the same device. Buffers imported from another VPU context will now just increase reference count, leaving only a single sgt, fixing the problem above. Buffers still can't be shared among VPU contexts because each has its own MMU mapping and ivpu_bo only supports single MMU mappings. The solution would be to use a mapping list as in panfrost or etnaviv drivers and it will be implemented in future if required. 2023-11-08accel/ivpu: Remove support for uncached buffersJacek Lawrynowicz
Usages of DRM_IVPU_BO_UNCACHED should be replaced by DRM_IVPU_BO_WC. There is no functional benefit from DRM_IVPU_BO_UNCACHED if these buffers are never mapped to host VM. 2023-11-08accel/ivpu: Fix locking in ivpu_bo_remove_all_bos_from_context()Jacek Lawrynowicz
ivpu_bo_remove_all_bos_from_context() could race with ivpu_bo_free() when prime buffer was closed after vpu device was closed. Move the bo_list from context to vdev and use a dedicated lock to sync it. This list is not modified when BO is added/removed from a context. 2023-01-19accel/ivpu: Add command buffer submission logicJacek Lawrynowicz
Each of the user contexts has two command queues, one for compute engine and one for the copy engine. Command queues are allocated and registered in the device when the first job (command buffer) is submitted from the user space to the VPU device. The userspace provides a list of GEM buffer object handles to submit to the VPU, the driver resolves buffer handles, pins physical memory if needed, increments ref count for each buffer and stores pointers to buffer objects in the ivpu_job objects that track jobs submitted to the device. The VPU signals job completion with an asynchronous message that contains the job id passed to firmware when the job was submitted. Currently, the driver supports simple scheduling logic where jobs submitted from user space are immediately pushed to the VPU device command queues. In the future, it will be extended to use hardware base scheduling and/or drm_sched. Adds four types of GEM-based BOs for the VPU: - shmem - internal - prime All types are implemented as struct ivpu_bo, based on struct drm_gem_object. VPU address is allocated when buffer is created except for imported prime buffers that allocate it in BO_INFO IOCTL due to missing file_priv arg in gem_prime_import callback. Internal buffers are pinned on creation, the rest of buffers types can be pinned on demand (in SUBMIT IOCTL). Buffer VPU address, allocated pages and mappings are released when the buffer is destroyed. Eviction mechanism is planned for future versions.
