2025-07-06m68k: Don't unregister boot console needlesslyFinn Thain
When MACH_IS_MVME147, the boot console calls mvme147_scc_write() to generate console output. That will continue to work even after debug_cons_nputs() becomes unavailable so there's no need to unregister the boot console. Take the opportunity to remove a repeated MACH_IS_* test. Use the actual .write method (instead of a wrapper) and test that pointer instead. This means adding an unused parameter to debug_cons_nputs() for consistency with the struct console API. early_printk.c is only built when CONFIG_EARLY_PRINTK=y. As of late, head.S is only built when CONFIG_MMU_MOTOROLA=y. So let the former symbol depend on the latter, to obviate some ifdef conditionals. 2024-11-06m68k: mvme147: Reinstate early consoleDaniel Palmer
Commit a38eaa07a0ce ("m68k/mvme147: config.c - Remove unused functions"), removed the console functionality for the mvme147 instead of wiring it up to an early console. Put the console write function back and wire it up like mvme16x does so it's possible to see Linux boot on this fine hardware once more. 2016-03-07m68knommu: remove obsolete 68360 supportGreg Ungerer
Remove the obsolete Motorola/Freescale 68360 SoC support. It has been bit rotting for many years with little active use in mainlne. There has been no serial driver support for many years, so it is largely not useful in its current state. Signed-off-by: Greg Ungerer <gerg@uclinux.org>
2014-05-28m68k/mvme16x: Adopt common boot consoleFinn Thain
In a multi-platform kernel binary we only need one early console instance. The difficulty here is that the common early console is started by early_param(), whereas the MVME16x instance is started later by config_mvme16x(). That means some interrupt setup must be done earlier. 2014-05-28m68k: Multi-platform EARLY_PRINTKFinn Thain
Make the boot console available to more m68k platforms by leveraging the head.S debug console. The boot console is enabled by the "earlyprintk" command line argument which is how most other architectures do this. This is a change of behaviour for the Mac but does not negatively impact the common use-case which is not debugging. This is also a change of behaviour for other platforms because it means the serial port stays quiet when CONFIG_EARLY_PRINTK is not enabled. This is also an improvement for the common use-case.
