2022-06-11KVM: selftests: Get rid of kvm_util_internal.hSean Christopherson
Fold kvm_util_internal.h into kvm_util_base.h, i.e. make all KVM utility stuff "public". Hiding struct implementations from tests has been a massive failure, as it has led to pointless and poorly named wrappers, unnecessarily opaque code, etc... Not to mention that the approach was a complete failure as evidenced by the non-zero number of tests that were including kvm_util_internal.h. 2022-02-25KVM: selftests: aarch64: Skip tests if we can't create a vgic-v3Mark Brown
The arch_timer and vgic_irq kselftests assume that they can create a vgic-v3, using the library function vgic_v3_setup() which aborts with a test failure if it is not possible to do so. Since vgic-v3 can only be instantiated on systems where the host has GICv3 this leads to false positives on older systems where that is not the case. Fix this by changing vgic_v3_setup() to return an error if the vgic can't be instantiated and have the callers skip if this happens. We could also exit flagging a skip in vgic_v3_setup() but this would prevent future test cases conditionally deciding which GIC to use or generally doing more complex output. Some of the arm64 systems out there have an IPA space that is positively tiny. Nonetheless, they make great KVM hosts. With the inclusion of sysreg.h, that brings in system register encodings, it would be redundant to re-define register encodings again in processor.h to use it with ARM64_SYS_REG for the KVM functions such as set_reg() or get_reg(). Hence, add helper macro, ARM64_SYS_KVM_REG, that converts SYS_* definitions in sysreg.h into ARM64_SYS_REG definitions. Also replace all the users of ARM64_SYS_REG, relying on the encodings created in processor.h, with ARM64_SYS_KVM_REG and remove the definitions. 2021-06-14KVM: selftests: Add exception handling support for aarch64Ricardo Koller
Add the infrastructure needed to enable exception handling in aarch64 selftests. The exception handling defaults to an unhandled-exception handler which aborts the test, just like x86. These handlers can be overridden by calling vm_install_exception_handler(vector) or vm_install_sync_handler(vector, ec). The unhandled exception reporting from the guest is done using the ucall type introduced in a previous commit, UCALL_UNHANDLED. The exception handling code is inspired on kvm-unit-tests. 2020-03-16KVM: selftests: Rework debug message printingAndrew Jones
There were a few problems with the way we output "debug" messages. The first is that we used DEBUG() which is defined when NDEBUG is not defined, but NDEBUG will never be defined for kselftests because it relies too much on assert(). The next is that most of the DEBUG() messages were actually "info" messages, which users may want to turn off if they just want a silent test that either completes or asserts. Finally, a debug message output from a library function, and thus for all tests, was annoying when its information wasn't interesting for a test. Rework these messages so debug messages only output when DEBUG is defined and info messages output unless QUIET is defined. Also name the functions pr_debug and pr_info and make sure that when they're disabled we eat all the inputs. The later avoids unused variable warnings when the variables were only defined for the purpose of printing. Currently vcpu_args_set is only implemented for x86. This makes writing tests with multiple vCPUs difficult as each guest vCPU must either a.) do the same thing or b.) derive some kind of unique token from it's registers or the architecture. To simplify the process of writing tests with multiple vCPUs for s390 and aarch64, add set args functions for those architectures. 2019-09-24KVM: selftests: Introduce VM_MODE_PXXV48_4KPeter Xu
The naming VM_MODE_P52V48_4K is explicit but unclear when used on x86_64 machines, because x86_64 machines are having various physical address width rather than some static values. Here's some examples: - Intel Xeon E3-1220: 36 bits - Intel Core i7-8650: 39 bits - AMD EPYC 7251: 48 bits All of them are using 48 bits linear address width but with totally different physical address width (and most of the old machines should be less than 52 bits). Let's create a new guest mode called VM_MODE_PXXV48_4K for current x86_64 tests and make it as the default to replace the old naming of VM_MODE_P52V48_4K because it shows more clearly that the PA width is not really a constant. Meanwhile we also stop assuming all the x86 machines are having 52 bits PA width but instead we fetch the real vm->pa_bits from CPUID 0x80000008 during runtime. We currently make this exclusively used by x86_64 but no other arch. As a slight touch up, moving DEBUG macro from dirty_log_test.c to kvm_util.h so lib can use it too. 2019-08-02KVM: selftests: Split ucall.c into architecture specific filesThomas Huth
The way we exit from a guest to userspace is very specific to the architecture: On x86, we use PIO, on aarch64 we are using MMIO and on s390x we're going to use an instruction instead. The possibility to select a type via the ucall_type_t enum is currently also completely unused, so the code in ucall.c currently looks more complex than required. Let's split this up into architecture specific ucall.c files instead, so we can get rid of the #ifdefs and the unnecessary ucall_type_t handling.
