2019-03-01selftests/bpf: use __bpf_constant_htons in test_prog.c for flow dissectorStanislav Fomichev
Older GCC (<4.8) isn't smart enough to optimize !__builtin_constant_p() branch in bpf_htons. I recently fixed it for pkt_v4 and pkt_v6 in commit a0517a0f7ef23 ("selftests/bpf: use __bpf_constant_htons in test_prog.c"), but later added another bunch of bpf_htons in commit bf0f0fd939451 ("selftests/bpf: add simple BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN examples for flow dissector"). 2019-02-25selftests/bpf: make sure signal interrupts BPF_PROG_TEST_RUNStanislav Fomichev
Simple test that I used to reproduce the issue in the previous commit: Do BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN with max iterations, each program is 4096 simple move instructions. File alarm in 0.1 second and check that bpf_prog_test_run is interrupted (i.e. test doesn't hang). Note: reposting this for bpf-next to avoid linux-next conflict. In this version I test both BPF_PROG_TYPE_SOCKET_FILTER (which uses generic bpf_test_run implementation) and BPF_PROG_TYPE_FLOW_DISSECTOR (which has it own loop with preempt handling in bpf_prog_test_run_flow_dissector). 2019-02-04libbpf: fix libbpf_printStanislav Fomichev
With the recent print rework we now have the following problem: pr_{warning,info,debug} expand to __pr which calls libbpf_print. libbpf_print does va_start and calls __libbpf_pr with va_list argument. In __base_pr we again do va_start. Because the next argument is a va_list, we don't get correct pointer to the argument (and print noting in my case, I don't know why it doesn't crash tbh). Fix this by changing libbpf_print_fn_t signature to accept va_list and remove unneeded calls to va_start in the existing users. Alternatively, this can we solved by exporting __libbpf_pr and changing __pr macro to (and killing libbpf_print): { if (__libbpf_pr) __libbpf_pr(level, "libbpf: " fmt, ##__VA_ARGS__) } Signed-off-by: Stanislav Fomichev <sdf@google.com> Acked-by: Yonghong Song <yhs@fb.com> Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org>
2019-02-04tools/bpf: simplify libbpf API function libbpf_set_print()Yonghong Song
Currently, the libbpf API function libbpf_set_print() takes three function pointer parameters for warning, info and debug printout respectively. This patch changes the API to have just one function pointer parameter and the function pointer has one additional parameter "debugging level". So if in the future, if the debug level is increased, the function signature won't change. Signed-off-by: Yonghong Song <yhs@fb.com> Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org>

Daniel Borkmann says: ==================== pull-request: bpf-next 2019-01-29 The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree. The main changes are: 1) Teach verifier dead code removal, this also allows for optimizing / removing conditional branches around dead code and to shrink the resulting image. Code store constrained architectures like nfp would have hard time doing this at JIT level, from Jakub. 2) Add JMP32 instructions to BPF ISA in order to allow for optimizing code generation for 32-bit sub-registers. Evaluation shows that this can result in code reduction of ~5-20% compared to 64 bit-only code generation. Also add implementation for most JITs, from Jiong. 3) Add support for __int128 types in BTF which is also needed for vmlinux's BTF conversion to work, from Yonghong. 4) Add a new command to bpftool in order to dump a list of BPF-related parameters from the system or for a specific network device e.g. in terms of available prog/map types or helper functions, from Quentin. 5) Add AF_XDP sock_diag interface for querying sockets from user space which provides information about the RX/TX/fill/completion rings, umem, memory usage etc, from Björn. 6) Add skb context access for skb_shared_info->gso_segs field, from Eric. 7) Add support for testing flow dissector BPF programs by extending existing BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN infrastructure, from Stanislav. 8) Split BPF kselftest's test_verifier into various subgroups of tests in order better deal with merge conflicts in this area, from Jakub. 9) Add support for queue/stack manipulations in bpftool, from Stanislav. 10) Document BTF, from Yonghong. 11) Dump supported ELF section names in libbpf on program load failure, from Taeung. 12) Silence a false positive compiler warning in verifier's BTF handling, from Peter. 13) Fix help string in bpftool's feature probing, from Prashant. 14) Remove duplicate includes in BPF kselftests, from Yue. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. 2019-01-17selftests/bpf: retry tests that expect build-idStanislav Fomichev
While running test_progs in a loop I found out that I'm sometimes hitting "Didn't find expected build ID from the map" error. Looking at stack_map_get_build_id_offset() it seems that it is racy (by design) and can sometimes return BPF_STACK_BUILD_ID_IP (i.e. can't trylock current->mm->mmap_sem). Let's retry this test a single time. 2018-04-29tools/bpf: add a test for bpf_get_stack with tracepoint progYonghong Song
The test_stacktrace_map and test_stacktrace_build_id are enhanced to call bpf_get_stack in the helper to get the stack trace as well. The stack traces from bpf_get_stack and bpf_get_stackid are compared to ensure that for the same stack as represented as the same hash, their ip addresses or build id's must be the same. 2018-04-29tools/bpf: add a test for bpf_get_stack with raw tracepoint progYonghong Song
The test attached a raw_tracepoint program to raw_syscalls/sys_enter. It tested to get stack for user space, kernel space and user space with build_id request. It also tested to get user and kernel stack into the same buffer with back-to-back bpf_get_stack helper calls. If jit is not enabled, the user space application will check to ensure that the kernel function for raw_tracepoint ___bpf_prog_run is part of the stack. If jit is enabled, we did not have a reliable way to verify the kernel stack, so just assume the kernel stack is good when the kernel stack size is greater than 0. 2017-07-26bpf: don't zero out the info struct in bpf_obj_get_info_by_fd()Jakub Kicinski
The buffer passed to bpf_obj_get_info_by_fd() should be initialized to zeros. Kernel will enforce that to guarantee we can safely extend info structures in the future. Making the bpf_obj_get_info_by_fd() call in libbpf perform the zeroing is problematic, however, since some members of the info structures may need to be initialized by the callers (for instance pointers to buffers to which kernel is to dump translated and jited images). Remove the zeroing and fix up the in-tree callers before any kernel has been released with this code. As Daniel points out this seems to be the intended operation anyway, since commit 95b9afd3987f ("bpf: Test for bpf ID") is itself setting the buffer pointers before calling bpf_obj_get_info_by_fd(). 2017-06-13selftests/bpf: make correct use of exit codes in bpf selftestsJesper Dangaard Brouer

Thus, be careful if using the number of errors as the exit code, as 256 errors would be seen as a success. There are two standard defined exit(3) codes: /usr/include/stdlib.h #define EXIT_FAILURE 1 /* Failing exit status. */ #define EXIT_SUCCESS 0 /* Successful exit status. */ Fix test_verifier.c to not use the negative value of variable "results", but instead return EXIT_FAILURE. Dave reported that on sparc test_progs generates buggy swapped eth->h_proto protocol comparisons: 10: (15) if r3 == 0xdd86 goto pc+9 R0=imm2,min_value=2,max_value=2 R1=pkt(id=0,off=0,r=14) R2=pkt_end R3=inv R4=pkt(id=0,off=14,r=14) R5=inv56 R10=fp This is due to the unconditional ... #define htons __builtin_bswap16 #define ntohs __builtin_bswap16 ... in test_progs that causes this. Make use of asm/byteorder.h and use __constant_htons() where possible and only perform the bswap16 when on little endian in non-constant case. 2017-04-01selftests/bpf: add l4 load balancer test based on sched_clsAlexei Starovoitov
this l4lb demo is a comprehensive test case for LLVM codegen and kernel verifier. It's using fully inlined jhash(), complex packet parsing and multiple map lookups of different types to stress llvm and verifier. The map sizes, map population and test vectors are artificial to exercise different paths through the bpf program.
