An issue was found in the processing of event logs when the output
buffer length was not reset.[1]
This bug was not caught with cxl-test for 2 reasons. First, the test
harness mbox_send command [mock_get_event()] does not set the output
size based on the amount of data returned like the hardware command
does. Second, the simplistic event log testing always returned the same
number of elements per-get command.
Enhance the simulation of the event log mailbox to better match the bug
found with real hardware to cover potential regressions.
NOTE: These changes will cause cxl-events.sh in ndctl to fail without
the fix from Kwangjin. However, no changes to the user space test was
required. Therefore ndctl itself will be compatible with old or new
kernels once both patches land in the new kernel.

The CXL CPER and event log records share everything but a UUID/GUID in
their structures.
Define a cxl_event union without the UUID/GUID to be shared between the
CPER and event log record formats. Adjust the code to use this union.

The UEFI CXL CPER structure does not include the UUID. Now that the
UUID is passed separately to the trace event there is no need to have
the UUID in those structures.
Move UUID from the event record header to the raw structures. Adjust
cxl-test to Create dummy structures for creating test records.

Restricted CXL Host (RCH) Error Handling undoes the topology munging of
CXL 1.1 to enabled some AER recovery, and lands some base infrastructure
for handling Root-Complex-Event-Collectors (RCECs) with CXL. Include
this long running series finally for v6.7.

used after the rework of the Component Register setup which now uses

The cxl-cli unit test for firmware update does operations like starting
an asynchronous firmware update, making sure it is in progress, and
attempting to cancel it. In some cases, such as with no or minimal
dynamic debugging turned on, the firmware update completes too quickly,
not allowing the test to have a chance to verify it was in progress.
This caused a failure of the signature:

Fix this by adding a delay (~1.5 - 2 ms) to each firmware transfer
request handled by the mocked interface.

It is all too easy to get confused about @dev usage in the CXL driver
stack. Before adding a new cxl_pci_probe() setup operation that has a
devm lifetime dependent on @cxlds->dev binding, but also references
@cxlmd->dev, and prints messages, rework the devm_cxl_add_memdev() and
cxl_memdev_setup_fw_upload() function signatures to make this
distinction explicit. I.e. pass in the devm context as an @host argument
rather than infer it from other objects.
This is in preparation for adding a devm_cxl_sanitize_setup_notifier().
Note the whitespace fixup near the change of the devm_cxl_add_memdev()
signature. That uncaught typo originated in the patch that added
cxl_memdev_security_init().

Pick up the driver cleanups identified in preparation for CXL "type-2"
(accelerator) device support. The major change here from a conflict
generation perspective is the split of 'struct cxl_memdev_state' from
the core 'struct cxl_dev_state'. Since an accelerator may not care about
all the optional features that are standard on a CXL "type-3" (host-only
memory expander) device.
A silent conflict also occurs with the move of the endpoint port to be a
formal property of a 'struct cxl_memdev' rather than drvdata.

Add the first typical (non-sanitization) consumer of the new background
command infrastructure, firmware update. Given both firmware-update and
sanitization were developed in parallel from the common
background-command baseline, resolve some minor context conflicts.

Add emulation for the 'Get FW Info', 'Transfer FW', and 'Activate FW'
CXL mailbox commands to the cxl_test emulated memdevs to enable
end-to-end unit testing of a firmware update flow. For now, only
advertise an 'offline activation' capability as that is all the CXL
memdev driver currently implements.
Add some canned values for the serial number fields, and create a
platform device sysfs knob to calculate the sha256sum of the firmware
image that was received, so a unit test can compare it with the original
file that was uploaded.

As more emulated mailbox commands are added to cxl_test, it is a pain
point to look up command effect numbers for each effect. Replace the
bare numbers in the mock driver with an enum that lists all possible
effects.

The CXL spec (3.0, section 8.2.9.8.4) Lists Inject Poison and Clear
Poison as having the effects of "Immediate Data Change". Fix this in the
mock driver so that the command effect log is populated correctly.

'struct cxl_dev_state' makes too many assumptions about the capabilities
of a CXL device. In particular it assumes a CXL device has a mailbox and
all of the infrastructure and state that comes along with that.
In preparation for supporting accelerator / Type-2 devices that may not
have a mailbox and in general maintain a minimal core context structure,
make mailbox functionality a super-set of 'struct cxl_dev_state' with
'struct cxl_memdev_state'.
With this reorganization it allows for CXL devices that support HDM
decoder mapping, but not other general-expander / Type-3 capabilities,
to only enable that subset without the rest of the mailbox
infrastructure coming along for the ride.

Move cxl_await_media_ready() to cxl_pci probe before driver starts issuing
IDENTIFY and retrieving memory device information to ensure that the
device is ready to provide the information. Allow cxl_pci_probe() to succeed
even if media is not ready. Cache the media failure in cxlds and don't ask
the device for any media information.
The rationale for proceeding in the !media_ready case is to allow for
mailbox operations to interrogate and/or remediate the device. After
media is repaired then rebinding the cxl_pci driver is expected to
restart the capacity scan.

CXL devices may report a maximum number of addresses that a device
allows to be poisoned using poison injection. When cxl_test creates
mock CXL memory devices, it defaults to MOCK_INJECT_DEV_MAX==88 for
all mocked memdevs.
Add a sysfs attribute, poison_inject_max to module cxl_mock_mem so
that users can set a custom device injection limit. Fail, and return
-EBUSY, if the mock poison list is not empty.
/sys/bus/platform/drivers/cxl_mock_mem/poison_inject_max
A simple usage model is to set the attribute before running a test in
order to emulate a device's poison handling.

Prior to poison inject support, the mock of 'Get Poison List'
returned a poison list containing a single mocked error record.
Following the addition of poison inject and clear support to the
mock driver, use the mock_poison_list[], rather than faking an
error record. Mock_poison_list[] list tracks the actual poison
inject and clear requests issued by userspace.

Mock the clear of poison by deleting the device:address entry from
the mock_poison_list[]. Behave like a real CXL device and do not fail
if the address is not in the poison list, but offer a dev_dbg()
message.

Mock the injection of poison by storing the device:address entries in
mock_poison_list[]. Enforce a limit of 8 poison injections per memdev
device and 128 total entries for the cxl_test mock driver.
Introducing the mock_poison[] list here, makes it available for use in
the mock of Clear Poison, and the mock of Get Poison List.

Facilitate testing basic Get/Clear Event functionality by creating
multiple logs and generic events with made up UUID's.
Data is completely made up with data patterns which should be easy to
spot in trace output.
A single sysfs entry resets the event data and triggers collecting the
events for testing.
Test traces are easy to obtain with a small script such as this:

In an RCH topology a CXL host-bridge as Root Complex Integrated Endpoint
the represents the memory expander. Unlike a VH topology there is no
CXL/PCIE Root Port that host the endpoint. The CXL subsystem maps this
as the CXL root object (ACPI0017 on ACPI based systems) targeting the
host-bridge as a dport, per usual, but then that dport directly hosts
the endpoint port.
Mock up that configuration with a 4th host-bridge that has a 'cxl_rcd'
device instance as its immediate child.

The three objects 'struct cxl_nvdimm_bridge', 'struct cxl_nvdimm', and
'struct cxl_pmem_region' manage CXL persistent memory resources. The
bridge represents base platform resources, the nvdimm represents one or
more endpoints, and the region is a collection of nvdimms that
contribute to an assembled address range.
Their relationship is such that a region is torn down if any component
endpoints are removed. All regions and endpoints are torn down if the
foundational bridge device goes down.
A workqueue was deployed to manage these interdependencies, but it is
difficult to reason about, and fragile. A recent attempt to take the CXL
root device lock in the cxl_mem driver was reported by lockdep as
colliding with the flush_work() in the cxl_pmem flows.
Instead of the workqueue, arrange for all pmem/nvdimm devices to be torn
down immediately and hierarchically. A similar change is made to both
the 'cxl_nvdimm' and 'cxl_pmem_region' objects. For bisect-ability both
changes are made in the same patch which unfortunately makes the patch
bigger than desired.
Arrange for cxl_memdev and cxl_region to register a cxl_nvdimm and
cxl_pmem_region as a devres release action of the bridge device.
Additionally, include a devres release action of the cxl_memdev or
cxl_region device that triggers the bridge's release action if an endpoint
exits before the bridge. I.e. this allows either unplugging the bridge,
or unplugging and endpoint to result in the same cleanup actions.
To keep the patch smaller the cleanup of the now defunct workqueue
infrastructure is saved for a follow-on patch.

The mock cxl mem devs needs a way to go into "locked" status to simulate
when the platform is rebooted. Add a sysfs mechanism so the device security
state is set to "locked" and the frozen state bits are cleared.

Add support to emulate a CXL mem device support the "Disable Passphrase"
operation. The operation supports disabling of either a user or a master
passphrase. The emulation will provide support for both user and master
passphrase.

Add the emulation support for handling "Get Security State" opcode for a
CXL memory device for the cxl_test. The function will copy back device
security state bitmask to the output payload.
The security state data is added as platform_data for the mock mem device.

In support of testing DPA allocation mechanisms in the CXL core, the
cxl_test environment needs to support establishing and retrieving the
'pmem partition boundary.
Replace the platform_device_add_resources() method for delineating DPA
within an endpoint with an emulated DEV_SIZE amount of partitionable
capacity. Set DEV_SIZE such that an endpoint has enough capacity to
simultaneously participate in 8 distinct regions.

To date the per-device-partition DPA range information has only been
used for enumeration purposes. In preparation for allocating regions
from available DPA capacity, convert those ranges into DPA-type resource
trees.
With resources and the new add_dpa_res() helper some open coded end
address calculations and debug prints can be cleaned.
The 'cxlds->pmem_res' and 'cxlds->ram_res' resources are child resources
of the total-device DPA space and they in turn will host DPA allocations
from cxl_endpoint_decoder instances (tracked by cxled->dpa_res).

Allow cxl_await_media_ready() to be mocked for testing purposes rather
than carrying the maintenance burden of an indirect function call in the
mainline driver.
With the move cxl_await_media_ready() can no longer reuse the mailbox
timeout override, so add a media_ready_timeout module parameter to the
core to backfill.

Per the CXL specification (8.1.12.2 Memory Device PCIe Capabilities and
Extended Capabilities) the Device Serial Number capability is mandatory.
Emit it for user tooling to identify devices.
It is reasonable to ask whether the attribute should be added to the
list of PCI sysfs device attributes. The PCI layer can optionally emit
it too, but the CXL subsystem is aiming to preserve its independence and
the possibility of CXL topologies with non-PCI devices in it. To date
that has only proven useful for the 'cxl_test' model, but as can be seen
with seen with ACPI0016 devices, sometimes all that is needed is a
platform firmware table to point to CXL Component Registers in MMIO
space to define a "CXL" device.

CXL 2.0 8.1.3.8.2 states:
Memory_Active: When set, indicates that the CXL Range 1 memory is
fully initialized and available for software use. Must be set within
Range 1. Memory_Active_Timeout of deassertion of reset to CXL device
if CXL.mem HwInit Mode=1
Unfortunately, Memory_Active can take quite a long time depending on
media size (up to 256s per 2.0 spec). Provide a callback for the
eventual establishment of CXL.mem operations via the 'cxl_mem' driver
the 'struct cxl_memdev'. The implementation waits for 60s by default for
now and can be overridden by the mbox_ready_time module parameter.

The 'struct cxl_mem' object actually represents the state of a CXL
device within the driver. Comments indicating that 'struct cxl_mem' is a
device itself are incorrect. It is data layered on top of a CXL Memory
Expander class device. Rename it 'struct cxl_dev_state'. The 'struct'
cxl_memdev' structure represents a Linux CXL memory device object, and
it uses services and information provided by 'struct cxl_dev_state'.
Update the structure name, function names, and the kdocs to reflect the
real uses of this structure.
Some helper functions that were previously prefixed "cxl_mem_" are
renamed to just "cxl_".

Introduce an emulated device-set plus driver to register CXL memory
devices, 'struct cxl_memdev' instances, in the mock cxl_test topology.
This enables the development of HDM Decoder (Host-managed Device Memory
Decoder) programming flow (region provisioning) in an environment that
can be updated alongside the kernel as it gains more functionality.
Whereas the cxl_pci module looks for CXL memory expanders on the 'pci'
bus, the cxl_mock_mem module attaches to CXL expanders on the platform
bus emitted by cxl_test.
