2024-04-26tools headers: Synchronize linux/bits.h with the kernel sourcesArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
To pick up the changes in this cset: 3c7a8e190bc58081 ("uapi: introduce uapi-friendly macros for GENMASK") That just causes perf to rebuild. Its just some macros going to an uapi header that we now have to grab a copy into tools/ as well. 2023-06-22asm-generic: Unify uapi bitsperlong.h for arm64, riscv and loongarchTiezhu Yang
Now we specify the minimal version of GCC as 5.1 and Clang/LLVM as 11.0.0 in Documentation/process/changes.rst, __CHAR_BIT__ and __SIZEOF_LONG__ are usable, it is probably fine to unify the definition of __BITS_PER_LONG as (__CHAR_BIT__ * __SIZEOF_LONG__) in asm-generic uapi bitsperlong.h. In order to keep safe and avoid regression, only unify uapi bitsperlong.h for some archs such as arm64, riscv and loongarch which are using newer toolchains that have the definitions of __CHAR_BIT__ and __SIZEOF_LONG__. 2016-07-12tools: Copy the bitsperlong.h files from the kernelArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
We use it in bitops/__ffs.h and bitops/atomic.h, that we also got from the kernel, but were getting it from either newer systems that carry it in /usr/include, or from the kernel sources, that we decided not to touch from tools/ code. Fix it.
