Pull timer updates from Thomas Gleixner:
"A rather large update for timekeeping and timers:
- The final step to get rid of auto-rearming posix-timers
posix-timers are currently auto-rearmed by the kernel when the
signal of the timer is ignored so that the timer signal can be
delivered once the corresponding signal is unignored.
This requires to throttle the timer to prevent a DoS by small
intervals and keeps the system pointlessly out of low power states
for no value. This is a long standing non-trivial problem due to
the lock order of posix-timer lock and the sighand lock along with
life time issues as the timer and the sigqueue have different life
time rules.
Cure this by:
- Embedding the sigqueue into the timer struct to have the same
life time rules. Aside of that this also avoids the lookup of
the timer in the signal delivery and rearm path as it's just a
always valid container_of() now.
- Queuing ignored timer signals onto a seperate ignored list.
- Moving queued timer signals onto the ignored list when the
signal is switched to SIG_IGN before it could be delivered.
- Walking the ignored list when SIG_IGN is lifted and requeue the
signals to the actual signal lists. This allows the signal
delivery code to rearm the timer.
This also required to consolidate the signal delivery rules so they
are consistent across all situations. With that all self test
scenarios finally succeed.
- Core infrastructure for VFS multigrain timestamping
This is required to allow the kernel to use coarse grained time
stamps by default and switch to fine grained time stamps when inode
attributes are actively observed via getattr().
These changes have been provided to the VFS tree as well, so that
the VFS specific infrastructure could be built on top.
- Cleanup and consolidation of the sleep() infrastructure
- Move all sleep and timeout functions into one file
- Rework udelay() and ndelay() into proper documented inline
functions and replace the hardcoded magic numbers by proper
defines.
- Rework the fsleep() implementation to take the reality of the
timer wheel granularity on different HZ values into account.
Right now the boundaries are hard coded time ranges which fail
to provide the requested accuracy on different HZ settings.
- Update documentation for all sleep/timeout related functions
and fix up stale documentation links all over the place
- Fixup a few usage sites
- Rework of timekeeping and adjtimex(2) to prepare for multiple PTP
clocks
A system can have multiple PTP clocks which are participating in
seperate and independent PTP clock domains. So far the kernel only
considers the PTP clock which is based on CLOCK TAI relevant as
that's the clock which drives the timekeeping adjustments via the
various user space daemons through adjtimex(2).
The non TAI based clock domains are accessible via the file
descriptor based posix clocks, but their usability is very limited.
They can't be accessed fast as they always go all the way out to
the hardware and they cannot be utilized in the kernel itself.
As Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) gains traction it is required to
provide fast user and kernel space access to these clocks.
The approach taken is to utilize the timekeeping and adjtimex(2)
infrastructure to provide this access in a similar way how the
kernel provides access to clock MONOTONIC, REALTIME etc.
Instead of creating a duplicated infrastructure this rework
converts timekeeping and adjtimex(2) into generic functionality
which operates on pointers to data structures instead of using
static variables.
This allows to provide time accessors and adjtimex(2) functionality
for the independent PTP clocks in a subsequent step.
- Consolidate hrtimer initialization
hrtimers are set up by initializing the data structure and then
seperately setting the callback function for historical reasons.
That's an extra unnecessary step and makes Rust support less
straight forward than it should be.
Provide a new set of hrtimer_setup*() functions and convert the
core code and a few usage sites of the less frequently used
interfaces over.
The bulk of the htimer_init() to hrtimer_setup() conversion is
already prepared and scheduled for the next merge window.
- Drivers:
- Ensure that the global timekeeping clocksource is utilizing the
cluster 0 timer on MIPS multi-cluster systems.
Otherwise CPUs on different clusters use their cluster specific
clocksource which is not guaranteed to be synchronized with
other clusters.

The variable ret is being assigned a zero value however the value is
never read because ret is being re-assigned later after the end of
the switch statement. The assignment is redundant and can be removed.

Fix an issue detected by the Smatch tool:
sound/soc/sof/ipc4-pcm.c: sof_ipc4_pcm_dai_link_fixup_rate()
error: uninitialized symbol 'be_rate'.
The warning highlights a case where `be_rate` could remain uninitialized
if `num_input_formats` is zero, which would cause undefined behavior
when setting `rate->min` and `rate->max` based on `be_rate`.
To address this issue, a `WARN_ON_ONCE(!num_input_formats)` check was
added to ensure `num_input_formats` is greater than zero. If this
condition fails, the function returns `-EINVAL`, preventing the use of
an uninitialized `be_rate`.
This change improves the robustness of the function by catching an
invalid state early and providing better feedback during development.

The type is known, but it is not handled, the print is misleading.

Write the size of the optional payload of SOF_IPC4_MOD_INIT_INSTANCE
message to extension param_size-bits.
The previous IPC4 version does not set these bits that should indicate
the size of the optional payload (struct sof_ipc4_probe_cfg). The old
firmware side component code works well without these bits, but when
the probes are converted to use the generic module API, this does not
work anymore.

hda_dai_suspend() was added to handle paused stream during system
suspend. But as a side effect, it also ends up cleaning up the DMA
data for those streams that were prepared but not triggered before a
system suspend. Since these streams will not receive the prepare
callback after resuming, we need to preserve the DMA data during suspend.
So, add the check to handle only those streams that are in the paused
state to avoid losing the DMA data for all other streams.

It has been reported that the DMA memory allocation for firmware download
can fail after extended period of uptime on systems with relatively small
amount of RAM when the system memory becomes fragmented.
The issue primarily happens when the system is waking up from system
suspend, swap might not be available and the MM system cannot move things
around to allow for successful allocation.
If the IMR boot is not supported then for each DSP boot we would need to
allocate the DMA buffer for firmware transfer, which can increase the
chances of the issue to be hit.
This patch adds support for allocating the DMA buffers once at first boot
time and keep it until the system is shut down, rebooted or the drivers
re-loaded and makes this as the default operation.
With persistent_cl_buffer module parameter the persistent Code Loader
DMA buffer can be disabled to fall back to on demand allocation.

The HDA specification states that the SDnLVI (Last Valid Index) must be at
least 1 (two BDLE entry).
Update the debug prints as well to provide better information.
While the LVI=0 worked so far without issues, it is better to align with
the specification to avoid unforeseen issues with FW loading.
Notes:
- The LVI > 0 rules is valid and honored for audio use cases
- LVI == 0 is used with software controlled (SPIB) transfers only for
firmware and library loading, which is permitted by the hardware
- This is not spelled out in the specification and it is better to avoid
cases

Every time when the firmware is loaded we see the following printed in
info level:
unknown sof_ext_man header type 3 size 0x30
This is the PROBE_INFO element, which is not parsed, but it is not
something that we should treat as surprise, aka unknown type.
Add an empty case with a debug print to 'handle' this ext_manifest type and
silence the confusing print in kernel log.

Now, we don't need to use dpcm_playback/capture flags for DPCM since v6.11,
and thus we can use playback/capture_only flags instead too for DPCM,
which is same as non-DPCM.
Let's remove dpcm_playback/capture flags, and use playback/capture_only flags
instead.

The different bus type helpers define their own override parameters for
firmware name/path, topology name/path. sof-pci-dev covers all while others
just a subset.
There is no technical reason to do that since these are generic platform
independent parameters.
Add the override module options to core (snd-sof module) and update the
description for the device helper modules as deprecated.

This structure is used to copy information from the 'sdw_slave'
structures, it's better to create a flexible array of 'sdw_slave'
pointers and directly access the information. This will also help
access additional information stored in the 'sdw_slave' structure,
such as an SDCA context.
This patch does not add new functionality, it only modified how the
information is retrieved.

Some refactoring opportunities for the rcard driver were noticed while
fixing a bug.

This is required to reset the DMA read/write pointers when the stream is
prepared and restarted after a call to snd_pcm_drain()/snd_pcm_drop().
Also, now that the stream is reset during stop, do not save LLP registers
in the case of STOP/suspend to avoid erroneous delay reporting.

When a PCM is restarted after a snd_pcm_drain/snd_pcm_drop(), the prepare
callback will be invoked and the hw_params will be set again. For the
HDA DAI's, the hw_params function handles this case already but not for
the non-HDA DAI's. So, add the check for link_prepared to verify if the
hw_params should be done again or not. Additionally, for SDW DAI's reset
the PCMSyCM registers as would be done in the case of a start after a
hw_free.

For aggregated DAIs, the node ID is set to the group_id during the DAI
widget's ipc_prepare op. With the current logic, setting the dai_index
for node_id in the dai_config is redundant as it will be overwritten
with the group_id anyway. Removing it will also prevent any accidental
clearing/resetting of the group_id for aggregated DAIs due to the
dai_config calls could that happen before the allocated group_id is
freed.

Function descriptions in iopoll.h, regmap.h, phy.h and sound/soc/sof/ops.h
copied all the same outdated documentation about sleep/delay function
limitations. In those comments, the generic (and still outdated) timer
documentation file is referenced.
As proper function descriptions for used delay and sleep functions are in
place, simply update the descriptions to reference to them. While at it fix
missing colon after "Returns" in function description and move return value
description to the end of the function description.

audio format
Introduce a helper function to print out the audio format(s) used by a
module in a consistent way.
The printed text depends on the module format configuration, taking into
account if they have both input and output support, the format is changed
by the module and the number of formats supported on input/output.
For example, if a module does not change format, there is no point of
printing both in and out format, it is adequate to just state the format
the module is using.
While the function to generate the print is fairly complex (but not too
much), it will create a cleaner experience on the reader side by handling
the filtering of the information and present it in a way that it - I hope -
makes the developer's live a bit more easier when tracking format changes.

sof_ipc4_init_output_audio_fmt()
Similarly to sof_ipc4_init_input_audio_fmt(), move all output format
selection related prints (success or failure) inside of the
sof_ipc4_init_output_audio_fmt() function.
To do this, we need to pass swidget also, like with the input counterpart.

Process modules are allowed to have zero outputs, thus zero output formats.
In this case there is no need for complicated if expressions to handle such
cases, we can just use a single if for the number of output formats and
the rest can be simplified.

Commit 9ee3f0d8c999 ("ASOC: SOF: Intel: hda-loader: only wait for
HDaudio IOC for IPC4 devices") removed DMA wait for IPC3 case.
Proceed and remove the wait for IPC4 devices as well.
There is no dependency to IPC version in the load logic and
checking the firmware status is a sufficient check in case of
errors.
The removed code also had a bug in that -ETIMEDOUT is returned
without stopping the DMA transfer.

This is a very large set of changes, almost all in drivers rather than
the core. Even with the addition of several quite large drivers the
overall diffstat is negative thanks to the removal of some old Intel
board support which has been obsoleted by the AVS driver, helped a bit
by some factoring out into helpers (especially around the Soundwire
machine drivers for x86).
Highlights include:
- More simplifications and cleanups throughout the subsystem from
Morimoto-san.
- Extensive cleanups and refactoring of the Soundwire drivers to make
better use of helpers.
- Removal of Intel machine support obsoleted by the AVS driver.
- Lots of DT schema conversions.
- Machine support for many AMD and Intel x86 platforms.
- Support for AMD ACP 7.1, Mediatek MT6367 and MT8365, Realtek RTL1320
SoundWire and rev C, and Texas Instruments TAS2563

Do not set common_hdmi_codec_drv in SOF platform driver since no

After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove()
return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for
platform drivers.
Convert all drivers below sound/soc to use .remove(), with the eventual
goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and
.remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just
changing the structure member name in the driver initializer.

Add an new variable bt_link_mask to snd_soc_acpi_mach_params structure.
SSP port mask of BT offload found in NHLT table will be sent to
machine driver to setup BE dai link with correct SSP port number.
This patch only detects and enables the BT dailink. The functionality
will only be unlocked with a topology file that makes a reference to
that BT dailink. For backwards-compatibility reasons, this topology
will not be used by default. Chromebooks and Linux users willing to
experiment shall use the tplg_name kernel parameter to force the use
of an enhanced topology.

Remove SDW mach's topology name fixup code and use the code in
hda_machine_select() to fixup its topology file name. No functional
change in this commit.
Compared with I2S/HDA mach, SDW mach always fixup topology file name
with dmic num without using DMIC quirk flag and pass topology name
with file extension to SOF driver. Therefore, we add extra code to
remove file extension if it exists.

The SOF topology loading function sets the device name for the platform
component link. This should be unset when unloading the topology,
otherwise a machine driver unbind/bind or reprobe would complain about
an invalid component as having both its component name and of_node set:
mt8186_mt6366 sound: ASoC: Both Component name/of_node are set for AFE_SOF_DL1
mt8186_mt6366 sound: error -EINVAL: Cannot register card
mt8186_mt6366 sound: probe with driver mt8186_mt6366 failed with error -22
This happens with machine drivers that set the of_node separately.
Clear the SOF link platform name in the topology unload callback.
