collect_md property on xfrm interfaces can only be set on device creation,
thus xfrmi_changelink() should fail when called on such interfaces.
The check to enforce this was done only in the case where the xi was
returned from xfrmi_locate() which doesn't look for the collect_md
interface, and thus the validation was never reached.
Calling changelink would thus errornously place the special interface xi
in the xfrmi_net->xfrmi hash, but since it also exists in the
xfrmi_net->collect_md_xfrmi pointer it would lead to a double free when
the net namespace was taken down [1].
Change the check to use the xi from netdev_priv which is available earlier
in the function to prevent changes in xfrm collect_md interfaces.

If we get preempted during xfrm_state_find, we could run
xfrm_state_look_at using a different pcpu_id than the one
xfrm_state_find saw. This could lead to ignoring states that should
have matched, and triggering acquires on a CPU that already has a pcpu
state.

This can be avoided by passing the original pcpu_id down to all
xfrm_state_look_at() calls.
Also switch to raw_smp_processor_id, disabling preempting just to
re-enable it immediately doesn't really make sense.

In case of preemption, xfrm_state_look_at will find a different
pcpu_id and look up states for that other CPU. If we matched a state
for CPU2 in the state_cache while the lookup started on CPU1, we will
jump to "found", but the "best" state that we got will be ignored and
we will enter the "acquire" block. This block uses state_ptrs, which
isn't initialized at this point.
Let's initialize state_ptrs just after taking rcu_read_lock. This will
also prevent a possible misuse in the future, if someone adjusts this
function.

Users can set any seq/seq_hi/oseq/oseq_hi values. The XFRM core code
doesn't prevent from them to set even 0xFFFFFFFF, however this value
will cause for traffic drop.
Is is happening because SEQ numbers here mean that packet with such
number was processed and next number should be sent on the wire. In this
case, the next number will be 0, and it means overflow which causes to
(expected) packet drops.
While it can be considered as misconfiguration and handled by XFRM
datapath in the same manner as any other SEQ number, let's add
validation to easy for packet offloads implementations which need to
configure HW with next SEQ to send and not with current SEQ like it is
done in core code.

Prior to this patch, the mark is sanitized (applying the state's mask to
the state's value) only on inserts when checking if a conflicting XFRM
state or policy exists.
We discovered in Cilium that this same sanitization does not occur
in the hot-path __xfrm_state_lookup. In the hot-path, the sk_buff's mark
is simply compared to the state's value:
if ((mark & x->mark.m) != x->mark.v)
continue;
Therefore, users can define unsanitized marks (ex. 0xf42/0xf00) which will
never match any packet.
This commit updates __xfrm_state_insert and xfrm_policy_insert to store
the sanitized marks, thus removing this footgun.
This has the side effect of changing the ip output, as the
returned mark will have the mask applied to it when printed.

The current scheme for caching the encap socket can lead to reference
leaks when we try to delete the netns.
The reference chain is: xfrm_state -> enacp_sk -> netns
Since the encap socket is a userspace socket, it holds a reference on
the netns. If we delete the espintcp state (through flush or
individual delete) before removing the netns, the reference on the
socket is dropped and the netns is correctly deleted. Otherwise, the
netns may not be reachable anymore (if all processes within the ns
have terminated), so we cannot delete the xfrm state to drop its
reference on the socket.
This patch results in a small (~2% in my tests) performance
regression.
A GC-type mechanism could be added for the socket cache, to clear
references if the state hasn't been used "recently", but it's a lot
more complex than just not caching the socket.

In non-ESN mode, the SEQ numbers are limited to 32 bits and seq_hi/oseq_hi
are not used. So make sure that user gets proper error message, in case
such assignment occurred.

The cited commit fixed a software GSO bug with VXLAN + IPSec in tunnel
mode. Unfortunately, it is slightly broader than necessary, as it also
severely affects performance for Geneve + IPSec transport mode over a
device capable of both HW GSO and IPSec crypto offload. In this case,
xfrm_output unnecessarily triggers software GSO instead of letting the
HW do it. In simple iperf3 tests over Geneve + IPSec transport mode over
a back-2-back pair of NICs with MTU 1500, the performance was observed
to be up to 6x worse when doing software GSO compared to leaving it to
the hardware.
This commit makes xfrm_output only trigger software GSO in crypto
offload cases for already encapsulated packets in tunnel mode, as not
doing so would then cause the inner tunnel skb->inner_networking_header
to be overwritten and break software GSO for that packet later if the
device turns out to not be capable of HW GSO.
Taking a closer look at the conditions for the original bug, to better
understand the reasons for this change:
- vxlan_build_skb -> iptunnel_handle_offloads sets inner_protocol and
inner network header.
- then, udp_tunnel_xmit_skb -> ip_tunnel_xmit adds outer transport and
network headers.
- later in the xmit path, xfrm_output -> xfrm_outer_mode_output ->
xfrm4_prepare_output -> xfrm4_tunnel_encap_add overwrites the inner
network header with the one set in ip_tunnel_xmit before adding the
second outer header.
- __dev_queue_xmit -> validate_xmit_skb checks whether GSO segmentation
needs to happen based on dev features. In the original bug, the hw
couldn't segment the packets, so skb_gso_segment was invoked.
- deep in the .gso_segment callback machinery, __skb_udp_tunnel_segment
tries to use the wrong inner network header, expecting the one set in
iptunnel_handle_offloads but getting the one set by xfrm instead.
- a bit later, ipv6_gso_segment accesses the wrong memory based on that
wrong inner network header.
With the new change, the original bug (or similar ones) cannot happen
again, as xfrm will now trigger software GSO before applying a tunnel.
This concern doesn't exist in packet offload mode, when the HW adds
encapsulation headers. For the non-offloaded packets (crypto in SW),
software GSO is still done unconditionally in the else branch.

Packets that match the output xfrm policy are delivered to the netstack.
In IPsec packet mode for tunnel mode, the HW is responsible for building
the hard header and outer IP header. In such a situation, the inner
header may refer to a network that is not directly reachable by the host,
resulting in a failed neighbor resolution. The packet is then dropped.
xfrm policy defines the netdevice to use for xmit so we can send packets
directly to it.
Makes direct xmit exclusive to tunnel mode, since some rules may apply
in transport mode.

For the state cache lookup xfrm_input_state_lookup() first disables
preemption, to remain on the CPU and then retrieves a per-CPU pointer.
Within the preempt-disable section it also acquires
netns_xfrm::xfrm_state_lock, a spinlock_t. This lock must not be
acquired with explicit disabled preemption (such as by get_cpu())
because this lock becomes a sleeping lock on PREEMPT_RT.
To remain on the same CPU is just an optimisation for the CPU local
lookup. The actual modification of the per-CPU variable happens with
netns_xfrm::xfrm_state_lock acquired.
Remove get_cpu() and use the state_cache_input on the current CPU.

lookup and resize can run in parallel.
The xfrm_state_hash_generation seqlock ensures a retry, but the hash
functions can observe a hmask value that is too large for the new hlist
array.
rehash does:
rcu_assign_pointer(net->xfrm.state_bydst, ndst) [..]
net->xfrm.state_hmask = nhashmask;
While state lookup does:
h = xfrm_dst_hash(net, daddr, saddr, tmpl->reqid, encap_family);
hlist_for_each_entry_rcu(x, net->xfrm.state_bydst + h, bydst) {
This is only safe in case the update to state_bydst is larger than
net->xfrm.xfrm_state_hmask (or if the lookup function gets
serialized via state spinlock again).
Fix this by prefetching state_hmask and the associated pointers.
The xfrm_state_hash_generation seqlock retry will ensure that the pointer
and the hmask will be consistent.
The existing helpers, like xfrm_dst_hash(), are now unsafe for RCU side,
add lockdep assertions to document that they are only safe for insert
side.
xfrm_state_lookup_byaddr() uses the spinlock rather than RCU.
AFAICS this is an oversight from back when state lookup was converted to
RCU, this lock should be replaced with RCU in a future patch.

Currently all flows for a certain SA must be processed by the same
cpu to avoid packet reordering and lock contention of the xfrm
state lock.
To get rid of this limitation, the IETF standardized per cpu SAs
in RFC 9611. This patch implements the xfrm part of it.
We add the cpu as a lookup key for xfrm states and a config option
to generate acquire messages for each cpu.
With that, we can have on each cpu a SA with identical traffic selector
so that flows can be processed in parallel on all cpus.

When skb needs GSO and wrap around happens, if xo->seq.low (seqno of
the first skb segment) is before the last seq number but oseq (seqno
of the last segment) is after it, xo->seq.low is still bigger than
replay_esn->oseq while oseq is smaller than it, so the update of
replay_esn->oseq_hi is missed for this case wrap around because of
the change in the cited commit.
For example, if sending a packet with gso_segs=3 while old
replay_esn->oseq=0xfffffffe, we calculate:
xo->seq.low = 0xfffffffe + 1 = 0x0xffffffff
oseq = 0xfffffffe + 3 = 0x1
(oseq < replay_esn->oseq) is true, but (xo->seq.low <
replay_esn->oseq) is false, so replay_esn->oseq_hi is not incremented.
To fix this issue, change the outer checking back for the update of
replay_esn->oseq_hi. And add new checking inside for the update of
packet's oseq_hi.

Fixes copying of xfrm algorithms where some random
data of the structure fields can end up in userspace.
Padding in structures may be filled with random (possibly sensitve)
data and should never be given directly to user-space.
A similar issue was resolved in the commit
8222d5910dae ("xfrm: Zero padding when dumping algos and encap")
Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.

This expands the validation introduced in commit 07bf7908950a ("xfrm:
Validate address prefix lengths in the xfrm selector.")
syzbot created an SA with
usersa.sel.family = AF_UNSPEC
usersa.sel.prefixlen_s = 128
usersa.family = AF_INET
Because of the AF_UNSPEC selector, verify_newsa_info doesn't put
limits on prefixlen_{s,d}. But then copy_from_user_state sets
x->sel.family to usersa.family (AF_INET). Do the same conversion in
verify_newsa_info before validating prefixlen_{s,d}, since that's how
prefixlen is going to be used later on.

The series in the "fixes" tag added the ability to consider L4 attributes
in routing rules.
The dst lookup on the outer packet of encapsulated traffic in the xfrm
code was not adapted to this change, thus routing behavior that relies
on L4 information is not respected.
Pass the ip protocol information when performing dst lookups.

A recent refactoring removed some assignments to dir because

NETIF_F_LLTX can't be changed via Ethtool and is not a feature,
rather an attribute, very similar to IFF_NO_QUEUE (and hot).

The spd is no longer maintained as a linear list.
We also haven't been caching bundles in the xfrm_policy
struct since 2010.
While at it, add kdoc style comments for the xfrm_policy structure
and extend the description of the current rbtree based search to
mention why it needs to search the candidate set.

In packet offload mode, append Security Association (SA) information
to each packet, replicating the crypto offload implementation.
The XFRM_XMIT flag is set to enable packet to be returned immediately
from the validate_xmit_xfrm function, thus aligning with the existing
code path for packet offload mode.
This SA info helps HW offload match packets to their correct security
policies. The XFRM interface ID is included, which is crucial in setups
with multiple XFRM interfaces where source/destination addresses alone
can't pinpoint the right policy.

No consumers anymore, remove it. After this, insertion of policies
no longer require list walk of all inexact policies but only those
that are reachable via the candidate sets.
This gives almost linear insertion speeds provided the inserted
policies are for non-overlapping networks.
Before:
Inserted 1000 policies in 70 ms
Inserted 10000 policies in 1155 ms
Inserted 100000 policies in 216848 ms
After:
Inserted 1000 policies in 56 ms
Inserted 10000 policies in 478 ms
Inserted 100000 policies in 4580 ms
Insertion of 1m entries takes about ~40s after this change
on my test vm.

XFRM_MIGRATE still uses the old lookup method:
first check the bydst hash table, then search the list of all the other
policies.
Switch MIGRATE to use the same lookup function as the packetpath.
This is done to remove the last remaining users of the pernet
xfrm.policy_inexact lists with the intent of removing this list.
After this patch, policies are still added to the list on insertion
and they are rehashed as-needed but no single API makes use of these
anymore.
This change is compile tested only.

Since commit
6be3b0db6db8 ("xfrm: policy: add inexact policy search tree infrastructure")
policy lookup no longer walks a list but has a set of candidate lists.
This set has to be searched for the best match.
In case there are several matches, the priority wins.
If the priority is also the same, then the historic behaviour with
a single list was to return the first match (first-in-list).
With introduction of serval lists, this doesn't work and a new
'pos' member was added that reflects the xfrm_policy structs position
in the list.
This value is not exported to userspace and it does not need to be
the 'position in the list', it just needs to make sure that
a->pos < b->pos means that a was added to the lists more recently
than b.
This re-walk is expensive when many inexact policies are in use.
Speed this up: when appending the policy to the end of the walker list,
then just take the ->pos value of the last entry made and add 1.
Add a slowpath version to prevent overflow, if we'd assign UINT_MAX
then iterate the entire list and fix the ordering.
While this speeds up insertion considerably finding the insertion spot
in the inexact list still requires a partial list walk.
This is addressed in followup patches.

The original idea to put WARN_ON() on return value from driver code was
to make sure that packet offload doesn't have silent fallback to
SW implementation, like crypto offload has.
In reality, this is not needed as all *swan implementations followed
this request and used explicit configuration style to make sure that
"users will get what they ask".
So instead of forcing drivers to make sure that even their internal flows
don't return -EOPNOTSUPP, let's remove this WARN_ON.

If xfrm_input() is called with UDP_ENCAP_ESPINUDP, the packet is
already processed in UDP layer that removes the UDP header.
Therefore, there should be no much difference to treat it as an
ESP packet in the XFRM stack.
Test: Enabled dir=in IPsec crypto offload, and verified IPv4
UDP-encapsulated ESP packets on both wifi/cellular network

Unblock this limitation so that SAs with encapsulation specified
can be passed to HW drivers. HW drivers can still reject the SA
in their implementation of xdo_dev_state_add if the encapsulation
is not supported.

IPsec crypt offload supports outbound IPv6 ESP packets, but it doesn't
support inbound IPv6 ESP packets.
This change enables the crypto offload for inbound IPv6 ESP packets
that are not handled through GRO code path. If HW drivers add the
offload information to the skb, the packet will be handled in the
crypto offload rx code path.
Apart from the change in crypto offload rx code path, the change
in xfrm_policy_check is also needed.

xfrm_policy_kill() is called at different places to delete xfrm
policy. It will call xfrm_pol_put(). But xfrm_dev_policy_delete() is
not called to free the policy offloaded to hardware.
The three commits cited here are to handle this issue by calling
xfrm_dev_policy_delete() outside xfrm_get_policy(). But they didn't
cover all the cases. An example, which is not handled for now, is
xfrm_policy_insert(). It is called when XFRM_MSG_UPDPOLICY request is
received. Old policy is replaced by new one, but the offloaded policy
is not deleted, so driver doesn't have the chance to release hardware
resources.
To resolve this issue for all cases, move xfrm_dev_policy_delete()
into xfrm_policy_kill(), so the offloaded policy can be deleted from
hardware when it is called, which avoids hardware resources leakage.

In cited commit, netdev_tracker_alloc() is called for the newly
allocated xfrm state, but dev_hold() is missed, which causes netdev
reference count imbalance, because netdev_put() is called when the
state is freed in xfrm_dev_state_free(). Fix the issue by replacing
netdev_tracker_alloc() with netdev_hold().

Add the ability to send out RFC-3948 NAT keepalives from the xfrm stack.
To use, Userspace sets an XFRM_NAT_KEEPALIVE_INTERVAL integer property when
creating XFRM outbound states which denotes the number of seconds between
keepalive messages.
Keepalive messages are sent from a per net delayed work which iterates over
the xfrm states. The logic is guarded by the xfrm state spinlock due to the
xfrm state walk iterator.
Possible future enhancements:
- Adding counters to keep track of sent keepalives.
- deduplicate NAT keepalives between states sharing the same nat keepalive
parameters.
- provisioning hardware offloads for devices capable of implementing this.
- revise xfrm state list to use an rcu list in order to avoid running this
under spinlock.

When offloading xfrm states to hardware, the offloading
device is attached to the skbs secpath. If a skb is free
is deferred, an unregister netdevice hangs because the
netdevice is still refcounted.
Fix this by removing the netdevice from the xfrm states
when the netdevice is unregistered. To find all xfrm states
that need to be cleared we add another list where skbs
linked to that are unlinked from the lists (deleted)
but not yet freed.
