2017-11-11net: am2150: fix nmclan_cs.c shared interrupt handlingArnd Bergmann
commit 96a30175f927facfb421655ef08b7a0fe546fbed upstream. A recent patch tried to work around a valid warning for the use of a deprecated interface by blindly changing from the old pcmcia_request_exclusive_irq() interface to pcmcia_request_irq(). This driver has an interrupt handler that is not currently aware of shared interrupts, but can be easily converted to be. At the moment, the driver reads the interrupt status register repeatedly until it contains only zeroes in the interesting bits, and handles each bit individually. This patch adds the missing part of returning IRQ_NONE in case none of the bits are set to start with, so we can move on to the next interrupt source. commit e58f95831e7468d25eb6e41f234842ecfe6f014f upstream. gcc-8.0.0 (snapshot) points out that we copy a variable-length string into a fixed length field using memcpy() with the destination length, and that ends up copying whatever follows the string: inlined from 'ql_core_dump' at drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qlge/qlge_dbg.c:1106:2: drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qlge/qlge_dbg.c:708:2: error: 'memcpy' reading 15 bytes from a region of size 14 [-Werror=stringop-overflow=] memcpy(seg_hdr->description, desc, (sizeof(seg_hdr->description)) - 1); Changing it to use strncpy() will instead zero-pad the destination, which seems to be the right thing to do here. The bug is probably harmless, but it seems like a good idea to address it in stable kernels as well, if only for the purpose of building with gcc-8 without warnings. In the stable linux-3.16 branch, I ran into a warning in the wlcore driver: drivers/net/wireless/ti/wlcore/spi.c: In function 'wl12xx_spi_raw_write': drivers/net/wireless/ti/wlcore/spi.c:315:1: error: the frame size of 12848 bytes is larger than 2048 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=] Newer kernels no longer show the warning, but the bug is still there, as the allocation is based on the CPU page size rather than the actual capabilities of the hardware. This replaces the PAGE_SIZE macro with the SZ_4K macro, i.e. 4096 bytes per buffer. 2017-10-12mwifiex: fixup error cases in mwifiex_add_virtual_intf()Brian Norris

If we fail to add an interface in mwifiex_add_virtual_intf(), we might hit a BUG_ON() in the networking code, because we didn't tear things down properly. Among the problems: (a) when failing to allocate workqueues, we fail to unregister the netdev before calling free_netdev() (b) even if we do try to unregister the netdev, we're still holding the rtnl lock, so the device never properly unregistered; we'll be at state NETREG_UNREGISTERING, and then hit free_netdev()'s: BUG_ON(dev->reg_state != NETREG_UNREGISTERED); (c) we're allocating some dependent resources (e.g., DFS workqueues) after we've registered the interface; this may or may not cause problems, but it's good practice to allocate these before registering (d) we're not even trying to unwind anything when mwifiex_send_cmd() or mwifiex_sta_init_cmd() fail To fix these issues, let's: * add a stacked set of error handling labels, to keep error handling consistent and properly ordered (resolving (a) and (d)) * move the workqueue allocations before the registration (to resolve (c); also resolves (b) by avoiding error cases where we have to unregister) [Incidentally, it's pretty easy to interrupt the alloc_workqueue() in, e.g., the following: iw phy phy0 interface add mlan0 type station by sending it SIGTERM.] This bugfix covers commits like commit 7d652034d1a0 ("mwifiex: channel switch support for mwifiex"), but parts of this bug exist all the way back to the introduction of dynamic interface handling in commit 93a1df48d224 ("mwifiex: add cfg80211 handlers add/del_virtual_intf"). 2017-09-15net: ethoc: enable NAPI before poll may be scheduledMax Filippov
commit d220b942a4b6a0640aee78841608f4aa5e8e185e upstream. ethoc_reset enables device interrupts, ethoc_interrupt may schedule a NAPI poll before NAPI is enabled in the ethoc_open, which results in device being unable to send or receive anything until it's closed and reopened. In case the device is flooded with ingress packets it may be unable to recover at all. Move napi_enable above ethoc_reset in the ethoc_open to fix that. Similar to commit fcd2042e8d36 ("mwifiex: printk() overflow with 32-byte SSIDs"), we failed to account for the existence of 32-char SSIDs in our debugfs code. Unlike in that case though, we zeroed out the containing struct first, and I'm pretty sure we're guaranteed to have some padding after the 'ssid.ssid' and 'ssid.ssid_len' fields (the struct is 33 bytes long). So, this is the difference between: # cat /sys/kernel/debug/mwifiex/mlan0/info ... essid="0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef " ... and the correct output: # cat /sys/kernel/debug/mwifiex/mlan0/info ... essid="0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef" ... Enforce a single read and locally cached value to avoid updates between test and use. However, this has been broken ever since we added GSO meta-data. VLAN acceleration also has the same problem. This patch fixes this by taking both into account when setting the TUN_PKT_STRIP flag. The fact that this has been broken for six years without anyone realising means that nobody actually uses this flag. commit cd224553641848dd17800fe559e4ff5d208553e8 upstream. xilinx_emaclite looks at the received data to try to determine the Ethernet packet length but does not properly clamp it if proto_type == ETH_P_IP or 1500 < proto_type <= 1518, causing a buffer overflow and a panic via skb_panic() as the length exceeds the allocated skb size. Fix those cases. Also add an additional unconditional check with WARN_ON() at the end. commit 291c566a28910614ce42d0ffe82196eddd6346f4 upstream. In function mlx4_cq_completion() and mlx4_cq_event(), the radix_tree_lookup requires a rcu_read_lock. This is mandatory: if another core frees the CQ, it could run the radix_tree_node_rcu_free() call_rcu() callback while its being used by the radix tree lookup function. Additionally, in function mlx4_cq_event(), since we are adding the rcu lock around the radix-tree lookup, we no longer need to take the spinlock. Also, the synchronize_irq() call for the async event eliminates the need for incrementing the cq reference count in mlx4_cq_event(). Other changes: 1. In function mlx4_cq_free(), replace spin_lock_irq with spin_lock: we no longer take this spinlock in the interrupt context. The spinlock here, therefore, simply protects against different threads simultaneously invoking mlx4_cq_free() for different cq's. 2. In function mlx4_cq_free(), we move the radix tree delete to before the synchronize_irq() calls. This guarantees that we will not access this cq during any subsequent interrupts, and therefore can safely free the CQ after the synchronize_irq calls. The rcu_read_lock in the interrupt handlers only needs to protect against corrupting the radix tree; the interrupt handlers may access the cq outside the rcu_read_lock due to the synchronize_irq calls which protect against premature freeing of the cq. 3. In function mlx4_cq_event(), we change the mlx_warn message to mlx4_dbg. 4. We leave the cq reference count mechanism in place, because it is still needed for the cq completion tasklet mechanism. When we unload the ep93xx_eth, whether we have opened the network interface or not, we will either hit a kernel paging request error, or a simple NULL pointer de-reference because: - if ep93xx_open has been called, we have created a valid DMA mapping for ep->descs, when we call ep93xx_stop, we also call ep93xx_free_buffers, ep->descs now has a stale value - if ep93xx_open has not been called, we have a NULL pointer for ep->descs, so performing any operation against that address just won't work Fix this by adding a NULL pointer check for ep->descs which means that ep93xx_free_buffers() was able to successfully tear down the descriptors and free the DMA cookie as well.
