Right now it's possible to hit NULL pointer dereference in
rtw_rx_fill_rx_status on hw object and/or its fields because
initialization routine can start getting USB replies before
rtw_dev is fully setup.
The stack trace looks like this:

rtw_usb_rx_handler

rtw_usb_rx_resubmit

So while we do the async stuff rtw_usb_probe continues and calls
rtw_register_hw, which does all kinds of initialization (e.g.
via ieee80211_register_hw) that rtw_rx_fill_rx_status relies on.
Fix this by moving the first usb_submit_urb after everything
is set up.
For me, this bug manifested as:

because I'm using Larry's backport of rtw88 driver with the NULL

We did deinit CAM in STA iteration in VIF loop. But, the STA iteration
missed to restrict the target VIF. So, if there are multiple VIFs, we
would deinit a CAM multiple times. Now, fix it.

When the beacon loss happens, mac80211 makes rtw88 transmit a QOS
NULL frame and asks to confirm the ACK status. Even though rtw88
confirms to mac80211 that the QOS NULL was transmitted successfully,
the connection still dies. This is because rtw88 is handing the QOS
NULL back to mac80211 with skb->data pointing to the headroom (the
TX descriptor) instead of ieee80211_hdr.
Fix the disconnection by moving skb->data to the correct position
before ieee80211_tx_status_irqsafe().
The problem was observed with RTL8811AU (TP-Link Archer T2U Nano)
and the potential future rtw88_8821au driver. Also tested with
RTL8811CU (Tenda U9).

In rtw89_sta_info_get_iter() 'status->he_gi' is compared to array size.
But then 'rate->he_gi' is used as array index instead of 'status->he_gi'.
This can lead to go beyond array boundaries in case of 'rate->he_gi' is
not equal to 'status->he_gi' and is bigger than array size. Looks like
"copy-paste" mistake.
Fix this mistake by replacing 'rate->he_gi' with 'status->he_gi'.
Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

TX power index is read from the efuse on init, the values get written to
the TX power registers when the channel gets switched.
When the chip has not yet been calibrated, the efuse values are 0xFF,
which on some boards leads to USB timeouts for reading/writing registers
after the first frames have been sent.
The vendor driver (v5.11.5-1) checks for these invalid values and sets
default values instead. Implement something similar in
rtl8188fu_parse_efuse().

In order to connect to networks which require 802.11w, add the
MFP_CAPABLE flag and let mac80211 do the actual crypto in software.
When a robust management frame is received, rx_dec->swdec is not set,
even though the HW did not decrypt it. Extend the check and don't set
RX_FLAG_DECRYPTED for these frames in order to use SW decryption.
Use the security flag in the RX descriptor for this purpose, like it is
done in the rtw88 driver.

Structs rx_desc_92d and rx_fwinfo_92d will not work for big endian
systems.
Delete rx_desc_92d because it's big and barely used, and instead use
the get_rx_desc_rxmcs and get_rx_desc_rxht functions, which work on big
endian systems too.
Fix rx_fwinfo_92d by duplicating four of its members in the correct
order.
Tested only with RTL8192DU, which will use the same code.
Tested only on a little endian system.

Some (all?) management frames are incorrectly reported to mac80211 as
decrypted when actually the hardware did not decrypt them. This results
in speeds 3-5 times lower than expected, 20-30 Mbps instead of 100
Mbps.
Fix this by checking the encryption type field of the RX descriptor.
rtw88 does the same thing.
This fix was tested only with rtl8192du, which will use the same code.

Different channels have different TX power settings. rtl8192de is using
the TX power setting from the wrong channel in the 5 GHz band because
_rtl92c_phy_get_rightchnlplace expects an array which includes all the
channel numbers, but it's using an array which includes only the 5 GHz
channel numbers.
Use the array channel_all (defined in rtl8192de/phy.c) instead of
the incorrect channel5g (defined in core.c).
Tested only with rtl8192du, which will use the same TX power code.

Don't subtract 1 from the power index. This was added in commit
2fc0b8e5a17d ("rtl8xxxu: Add TX power base values for gen1 parts")
for unknown reasons. The vendor drivers don't do this.
Also correct the calculations of values written to
REG_OFDM0_X{C,D}_TX_IQ_IMBALANCE. According to the vendor driver,
these are used for TX power training.
With these changes rtl8xxxu sets the TX power of RTL8192CU the same
as the vendor driver.
None of this appears to have any effect on my RTL8192CU device.

The DMA channel of firmware command doesn't use TX WD (WiFi descriptor), so
don't need to consider number of TX WD as factor of TX resource. Otherwise,
during pause state (a transient state to switch to/from low power mode)
firmware commands could be dropped and driver throws warnings suddenly:
rtw89_8852ce 0000:04:00.0: no tx fwcmd resource
rtw89_8852ce 0000:04:00.0: failed to send h2c
The case we met is that driver sends RSSI strength of firmware command at
RX path that could be running concurrently with switching low power mode.
The missing of this firmware command doesn't affect user experiences,
because the RSSI strength will be updated again after a while.
The DMA descriptors of normal packets has three layers like:

Hardware puts RX descriptor and packet in RX DMA buffer, so it could be
over one buffer size if packet size is 11454, and then it will be split
into two segments. WiFi 7 chips use larger size of RX descriptor, so
enlarge DMA buffer size according to RX descriptor to have better
performance and simple flow.

This is caused by a mistake in the chip initialisation. This version of
the chip requires loading an extra AGC table right after the main one,
but the extra table is being loaded at the wrong time, in
rtw_chip_board_info_setup().
Move the extra AGC table loading to the right place, in
rtw_phy_load_tables().
The rtw_chip_board_info_setup() can only do "software" things, and
rtw_phy_load_tables() can really do IO.

RTL8822CU, RTL8822BU, and RTL8821CU need an extra register write after
reading and writing certain addresses.
Without this, the firmware upload fails approximately more than 50% of
the time.
Tested with RTL8811CU (Tenda U9 V2.0) which is the same as RTL8821CU
but without Bluetooth.

In concurrent mode, when STA interface is scanning, it causes
AP interface TX beacon on wrong channel. We modified it to scan
with the operating channel when one of the interfaces is already
connected. Additionally, STA interface need to stop scan when AP
interface is starting to avoid TX beacon on wrong channel. Finally,
AP interface need to stop TX beacon when STA interface is scanning

Since 'rtw89_core_tx_kick_off_and_wait()' assumes timeout
(actually RTW89_ROC_TX_TIMEOUT) in milliseconds, I suppose
that RTW89_ROC_IDLE_TIMEOUT is in milliseconds as well. If
so, 'msecs_to_jiffies()' should be used in a call to
'ieee80211_queue_delayed_work()' from 'rtw89_roc_end()'.

The rtlwifi driver comes with custom code to write into PCIe Link
Control register. RMW access for the Link Control register requires
locking that is already provided by the standard PCIe capability
accessors.
Convert the custom RMW code writing into LNKCTL register to standard
RMW capability accessors. The accesses are changed to cover the full
LNKCTL register instead of touching just a single byte of the register.

Ever since introduction in the commit 0c8173385e54 ("rtl8192ce: Add new
driver") the rtlwifi code has, according to comments, attempted to
disable/enable ASPM of the upstream bridge by writing into its LNKCTL
register. However, the code has never been correct because it performs
the writes to the device instead of the upstream bridge.
Worse yet, the offset where the PCIe capabilities reside is derived
from the offset of the upstream bridge. As a result, the write will use
an offset on the device that does not relate to the LNKCTL register
making the ASPM disable/enable code outright dangerous.
Because of those problems, there is no indication that the driver needs
disable/enable ASPM on the upstream bridge. As the Capabilities offset
is not correctly calculated for the write to target device's LNKCTL
register, the code is not disabling/enabling device's ASPM either.
Therefore, just remove the upstream bridge related ASPM disable/enable
code entirely.
The upstream bridge related ASPM code was the only user of the struct
mp_adapter members num4bytes, pcibridge_pciehdr_offset, and
pcibridge_linkctrlreg so those are removed as well.
Note: This change does not remove the code related to changing the
device's ASPM on purpose (which is independent of this flawed code
related to upstream bridge's ASPM).

Lukas reports skb_over_panic errors on his Banana Pi BPI-CM4 which comes
with an Amlogic A311D (G12B) SoC and a RTL8822CS SDIO wifi/Bluetooth
combo card. The error he observed is identical to what has been fixed
in commit e967229ead0e ("wifi: rtw88: sdio: Check the HISR RX_REQUEST
bit in rtw_sdio_rx_isr()") but that commit didn't fix Lukas' problem.
Lukas found that disabling or limiting RX aggregation works around the
problem for some time (but does not fully fix it). In the following
discussion a few key topics have been discussed which have an impact on
this problem:
- The Amlogic A311D (G12B) SoC has a hardware bug in the SDIO controller
which prevents DMA transfers. Instead all transfers need to go through
the controller SRAM which limits transfers to 1536 bytes
- rtw88 chips don't split incoming (RX) packets, so if a big packet is
received this is forwarded to the host in it's original form
- rtw88 chips can do RX aggregation, meaning more multiple incoming
packets can be pulled by the host from the card with one MMC/SDIO
transfer. This Depends on settings in the REG_RXDMA_AGG_PG_TH
register (BIT_RXDMA_AGG_PG_TH limits the number of packets that will
be aggregated, BIT_DMA_AGG_TO_V1 configures a timeout for aggregation
and BIT_EN_PRE_CALC makes the chip honor the limits more effectively)
Use multiple consecutive reads in rtw_sdio_read_port() and limit the
number of bytes which are copied by the host from the card in one
MMC/SDIO transfer. This allows receiving a buffer that's larger than
the hosts max_req_size (number of bytes which can be transferred in
one MMC/SDIO transfer). As a result of this the skb_over_panic error
is gone as the rtw88 driver is now able to receive more than 1536 bytes
from the card (either because the incoming packet is larger than that
or because multiple packets have been aggregated).
In case of an receive errors (-EILSEQ has been observed by Lukas) we
need to drain the remaining data from the card's buffer, otherwise the
card will return corrupt data for the next rtw_sdio_read_port() call.

For example, when using different gcc's compilation optimization options
(-O0 or -O2), the result of '(u32)data << 32' is different. One is 0, the
other is old value of data. Let _rtl8821ae_phy_calculate_bit_shift()'s
return value less than 32 to fix this problem. Warn if bitmask is zero.

The broadcast packets will be filtered in the FIF_ALLMULTI flag in

The MAC address is stored at offset 0x107 in the EEPROM, like correctly
stated in the comment. Add a two bytes reserved field right before the
MAC address to shift it from offset 0x105 to 0x107.
With this the MAC address returned from my RTL8723du wifi stick can be
correctly decoded as "Shenzhen Four Seas Global Link Network Technology
Co., Ltd."

After rtw_usb_alloc_rx_bufs() has been called rx urbs have been
allocated and must be freed in the error path. After rtw_usb_init_rx()
has been called they are submitted, so they also must be killed.
Add these forgotten steps to the probe error path.
Besides the lost memory this also fixes a problem when the driver
fails to download the firmware in rtw_chip_info_setup(). In this
case it can happen that the completion of the rx urbs handler runs
at a time when we already freed our data structures resulting in
a kernel crash.

The ENV_MNTR(environment monitor) is the dynamic mechanism which based on
the HW of CCX(Cisco Compatible Extensions) which provide the channel
loading and noisy level indicator to debug or support the 802.11k. The
PHYSTS provide the detail PHY information per packet we received for
debugging. The DIG(dynamic initial gain) is the dynamic mechanism to
adjust the packet detect power level by received signal strength to avoid
false detection of the WiFi packet.
The address of registers used for ENV_MNTR, PHYSTS and DIG of WiFi 7 IC
are different with WiFi 6 series, so we modify the method to access the
register address in order to compatible with all WiFi 7 and 6 ICs.

cr_base is base address of PHY control register. The base of WiFi 6 and 7
chips are 0x1_0000 and 0x2_0000 respectively, so define them accordingly.
For example, if PHY address is 0x1330, absolute address is 0x1_1330 for
WiFi 6 chips, and 0x2_1330 for WiFi 7 chips.
Meanwhile, there are two copies of PHY hardware named PHY0 and PHY1. The
offset between them is 0x2_0000, so the base address of PHY0 and PHY1 are
0x2_0000 and 0x4_0000 respectively.

rx_filter is used to decide which kind of packets are received to driver,
or just dropped by MAC layer to reduce bus traffic.
The bit definitions of old and new chips are the sames, but only address
