2021-12-23r8152: sync ocp baseHayes Wang
There are some chances that the actual base of hardware is different from the value recorded by driver, so we have to reset the variable of ocp_base to sync it. Set ocp_base to -1. Then, it would be updated and the new base would be set to the hardware next time. Signed-off-by: Hayes Wang <hayeswang@realtek.com> Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

2021-11-17net: usb: r8152: Add MAC passthrough support for more Lenovo DocksAaron Ma
Like ThinkaPad Thunderbolt 4 Dock, more Lenovo docks start to use the original Realtek USB ethernet chip ID 0bda:8153. Lenovo Docks always use their own IDs for usb hub, even for older Docks. If parent hub is from Lenovo, then r8152 should try MAC passthrough. Verified on Lenovo TBT3 dock too. Signed-off-by: Aaron Ma <aaron.ma@canonical.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2021-10-05r8152: avoid to resubmit rx immediatelyHayes Wang
For the situation that the disconnect event comes very late when the device is unplugged, the driver would resubmit the RX bulk transfer after getting the callback with -EPROTO immediately and continually. Finally, soft lockup occurs. This patch avoids to resubmit RX immediately. It uses a workqueue to schedule the RX NAPI. And the NAPI would resubmit the RX. It let the disconnect event have opportunity to stop the submission before soft lockup. 2021-07-27dev_ioctl: split out ndo_eth_ioctlArnd Bergmann
Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP. Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands. This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find their way through the implementation. 2021-07-14r8152: Fix a deadlock by doubly PM resumeTakashi Iwai
r8152 driver sets up the MAC address at reset-resume, while rtl8152_set_mac_address() has the temporary autopm get/put. This may lead to a deadlock as the PM lock has been already taken for the execution of the runtime PM callback. 2021-04-16r8152: set inter fram gap time depending on speedHayes Wang
Set the maximum inter frame gap time (144ns) for speed 10M/half and 100M/half. It improves the performance for those speeds. And, there is no effect for the other speeds. For 10M/half and 100M/half, the fast inter frame gap time let the device couldn't use the feature of the aggregation effectively, because the transfer would be completed fastly. Therefore, use the maximum value to improve the effect of the aggregation. However, you may not feel the improvement for fast CPUs, because they compensate for the effect of the aggregation. 2021-03-19r8152: limit the RX buffer size of RTL8153A for USB 2.0Hayes Wang
If the USB host controller is EHCI, the throughput is reduced from 300Mb/s to 60Mb/s, when the rx buffer size is modified from 16K to 32K. According to the EHCI spec, the maximum size of the qTD is 20K. Therefore, when the driver uses more than 20K buffer, the latency time of EHCI would be increased. And, it let the RTL8153A get worse throughput. However, the driver uses alloc_pages() for rx buffer, so I limit the rx buffer to 16K rather than 20K. 2021-03-03Revert "r8152: adjust the settings about MAC clock speed down for RTL8153"Hayes Wang
This reverts commit 134f98bcf1b898fb9d6f2b91bc85dd2e5478b4b8. The r8153_mac_clk_spd() is used for RTL8153A only, because the register table of RTL8153B is different from RTL8153A. However, this function would be called when RTL8153B calls r8153_first_init() and r8153_enter_oob(). That causes RTL8153B becomes unstable when suspending and resuming. The worst case may let the device stop working. Besides, revert this commit to disable MAC clock speed down for RTL8153A. It would avoid the known issue when enabling U1.
