2013-04-19net: vlan: rename NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_* feature flags to NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_CTAG_*Patrick McHardy
Rename the hardware VLAN acceleration features to include "CTAG" to indicate that they only support CTAGs. Follow up patches will introduce 802.1ad server provider tagging (STAGs) and require the distinction for hardware not supporting acclerating both. 2013-03-17drivers:net: dma_alloc_coherent: use __GFP_ZERO instead of memset(, 0)Joe Perches
Reduce the number of calls required to alloc a zeroed block of memory. Trivially reduces overall object size. Other changes around these removals o Neaten call argument alignment o Remove an unnecessary OOM message after dma_alloc_coherent failure o Remove unnecessary gfp_t stack variable Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-03-15drivers:net: Remove dma_alloc_coherent OOM messagesJoe Perches
I believe these error messages are already logged on allocation failure by warn_alloc_failed and so get a dump_stack on OOM. Remove the unnecessary additional error logging. Around these deletions: o Alignment neatening. o Remove unnecessary casts of dma_alloc_coherent. o Hoist assigns from ifs. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-03-09drivers:net: Remove unnecessary OOM messages after netdev_alloc_skbJoe Perches
Emitting netdev_alloc_skb and netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align OOM messages is unnecessary as there is already a dump_stack after allocation failures. Other trivial changes around these removals: Convert a few comparisons of pointer to 0 to !pointer. Change flow to remove unnecessary label. Remove now unused variable. Hoist assignment from if. 2013-02-04ethernet: Remove unnecessary alloc/OOM messages, alloc cleanupsJoe Perches
alloc failures already get standardized OOM messages and a dump_stack. Convert kzalloc's with multiplies to kcalloc. Convert kmalloc's with multiplies to kmalloc_array. Fix a few whitespace defects. Convert a constant 6 to ETH_ALEN. Use parentheses around sizeof. Convert vmalloc/memset to vzalloc. Remove now unused size variables. 2013-01-03ll_temac: fix mac address settingJiri Pirko
Previously, when invalid address was passed to ndo_set_mac_address, random mac was generated and set. Fix this by returning -EADDRNOTAVAIL in this situation. Also polish the code around a bit. Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jiri@resnulli.us> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-12-03net/xilinx: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. Signed-off-by: Bill Pemberton <wfp5p@virginia.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-07-10ll_temac: remove unnecessary setting of skb->devJon Mason
skb->dev is being unnecessarily set by the driver on packet recieve. eth_type_trans already sets skb->dev to the proper value and it is not referenced anywhere else in the dirver, thus making its setting unnecessary. Signed-off-by: Jon Mason <jdmason@kudzu.us> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-07-10drivers/net/ethernet: Fix (nearly-)kernel-doc comments for various functionsBen Hutchings
Fix incorrect start markers, wrapped summary lines, missing section breaks, incorrect separators, and some name mismatches. Delete a few that are content-free. 2012-02-17xilinx ll_temac: use eth_hw_addr_random() instead of random_ether_addr()Danny Kukawka
Use eth_hw_addr_random() instead of calling random_ether_addr() to set addr_assign_type correctly to NET_ADDR_RANDOM. Reset the state to NET_ADDR_PERM as soon as the MAC get changed via .ndo_set_mac_address. v2: reworked to prevent using an extra variable Signed-off-by: Danny Kukawka <danny.kukawka@bisect.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-01-31drivers/net: Remove alloc_etherdev error messagesJoe Perches
alloc_etherdev has a generic OOM/unable to alloc message. Remove the duplicative messages after alloc_etherdev calls. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-12-21net: ethernet: xilinx: Don't use NO_IRQ in xilinxMichal Simek
Fix ll_temac and emaclite drivers. Only Microblaze and Xilinx PPC use then and both use NO_IRQ as 0. It will be removed in near future. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-12-04ll_temac: Use kcalloc instead of kzalloc to allocate arrayThomas Meyer
The advantage of kcalloc is, that will prevent integer overflows which could result from the multiplication of number of elements and size and it is also a bit nicer to read. The semantic patch that makes this change is available in https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/25/107 Signed-off-by: Thomas Meyer <thomas@m3y3r.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-11-29net/ethernet: convert drivers/net/ethernet/* to use module_platform_driver()Axel Lin
This patch converts the drivers in drivers/net/ethernet/* to use the module_platform_driver() macro which makes the code smaller and a bit simpler. Cc: "David S. 2011-11-09net/ll_temac: FIX : Wait for indirect wait to endRicardo Ribalda
While tracing down a connectivity problem on the temac I connected a probe to the Cross bar irq, and it was triggered when doing ifdown->ifup. This is fixed once waiting for the indirect write to end. Since it is not on the hot path there is no performance loss. 2011-11-09net/temac: FIX segfault when process old irqsRicardo Ribalda
Do not enable the irq until the scatter gather registers are ready to handle the data. Otherwise an irq from a packet send/received before last close can lead to an access to an invalid memory region on the irq handler. Also, stop the dma engine on close. 2011-11-02net: fix typo in drivers/net/ethernet/xilinx/ll_temac_main.cStephen Rothwell
Commit 9e903e085262 ("net: add skb frag size accessors") used frag_size instead of skb_frag_size in this file. Fixes this build error: drivers/net/ethernet/xilinx/ll_temac_main.c: In function 'temac_start_xmit': drivers/net/ethernet/xilinx/ll_temac_main.c:717:3: error: implicit declaration of function 'frag_size' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-10-19net: add skb frag size accessorsEric Dumazet
To ease skb->truesize sanitization, its better to be able to localize all references to skb frags size. Define accessors : skb_frag_size() to fetch frag size, and skb_frag_size_{set|add|sub}() to manipulate it. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S.
