2024-04-27ice: tc: check src_vsi in case of traffic from VFMichal Swiatkowski
[ Upstream commit 428051600cb4e5a61d81aba3f8009b6c4f5e7582 ] In case of traffic going from the VF (so ingress for port representor) source VSI should be consider during packet classification. It is needed for hardware to not match packets from different ports with filters added on other port. It is only for "from VF" traffic, because other traffic direction doesn't have source VSI. Set correct ::src_vsi in rule_info to pass it to the hardware filter. For example this rule should drop only ipv4 packets from eth10, not from the others VF PRs. 2024-04-13ice: use relative VSI index for VFs instead of PF VSI numberJacob Keller
[ Upstream commit 11fbb1bfb5bc8c98b2d7db9da332b5e568f4aaab ] When initializing over virtchnl, the PF is required to pass a VSI ID to the VF as part of its capabilities exchange. The VF driver reports this value back to the PF in a variety of commands. The PF driver validates that this value matches the value it sent to the VF. Some hardware families such as the E700 series could use this value when reading RSS registers or communicating directly with firmware over the Admin Queue. However, E800 series hardware does not support any of these interfaces and the VF's only use for this value is to report it back to the PF. Thus, there is no requirement that this value be an actual VSI ID value of any kind. The PF driver already does not trust that the VF sends it a real VSI ID. The VSI structure is always looked up from the VF structure. The PF does validate that the VSI ID provided matches a VSI associated with the VF, but otherwise does not use the VSI ID for any purpose. Instead of reporting the VSI number relative to the PF space, report a fixed value of 1. When communicating with the VF over virtchnl, validate that the VSI number is returned appropriately. This avoids leaking information about the firmware of the PF state. Currently the ice driver only supplies a VF with a single VSI. However, it appears that virtchnl has some support for allowing multiple VSIs. I did not attempt to implement this. However, space is left open to allow further relative indexes if additional VSIs are provided in future feature development. For this reason, keep the ice_vc_isvalid_vsi_id function in place to allow extending it for multiple VSIs in the future. This change will also simplify handling of live migration in a future series. Since we no longer will provide a real VSI number to the VF, there will be no need to keep track of this number when migrating to a new host. 2024-04-10e1000e: move force SMBUS from enable ulp function to avoid PHY loss issueVitaly Lifshits
[ Upstream commit 861e8086029e003305750b4126ecd6617465f5c7 ] Forcing SMBUS inside the ULP enabling flow leads to sporadic PHY loss on some systems. It is suspected to be caused by initiating PHY transactions before the interface settles. Separating this configuration from the ULP enabling flow and moving it to the shutdown function allows enough time for the interface to settle and avoids adding a delay. 2024-04-10e1000e: Workaround for sporadic MDI error on Meteor Lake systemsVitaly Lifshits
[ Upstream commit 6dbdd4de0362c37e54e8b049781402e5a409e7d0 ] On some Meteor Lake systems accessing the PHY via the MDIO interface may result in an MDI error. This issue happens sporadically and in most cases a second access to the PHY via the MDIO interface results in success. As a workaround, introduce a retry counter which is set to 3 on Meteor Lake systems. The driver will only return an error if 3 consecutive PHY access attempts fail. The retry mechanism is disabled in specific flows, where MDI errors are expected. 2024-04-10i40e: Remove circular header dependencies and fix headersIvan Vecera
[ Upstream commit 56df345917c09ffc00b7834f88990a7a7c338b5c ] Similarly as for ice driver [1] there are also circular header dependencies in i40e driver: i40e.h -> i40e_virtchnl_pf.h -> i40e.h Another issue is that i40e header files does not contain their own dependencies on other header files (both private and standard) so their inclusion in .c file require to add these deps in certain order to that .c file to make it compilable. Fix both issues by removal the mentioned circular dependency, by filling i40e headers with their dependencies so they can be placed anywhere in a source code. Additionally remove bunch of includes from i40e.h super header file that are not necessary and include i40e.h only in .c files that really require it. 2024-04-10i40e: Remove back pointer from i40e_hw structureIvan Vecera

2024-04-10i40e: Enforce software interrupt during busy-poll exitIvan Vecera
[ Upstream commit ea558de7238bb12c3435c47f0631e9d17bf4a09f ] As for ice bug fixed by commit b7306b42beaf ("ice: manage interrupts during poll exit") followed by commit 23be7075b318 ("ice: fix software generating extra interrupts") I'm seeing the similar issue also with i40e driver. In certain situation when busy-loop is enabled together with adaptive coalescing, the driver occasionally misses that there are outstanding descriptors to clean when exiting busy poll. Try to catch the remaining work by triggering a software interrupt when exiting busy poll. No extra interrupts will be generated when busy polling is not used. The issue was found when running sockperf ping-pong tcp test with adaptive coalescing and busy poll enabled (50 as value busy_pool and busy_read sysctl knobs) and results in huge latency spikes with more than 100000us. The fix is inspired from the ice driver and do the following: 1) During napi poll exit in case of busy-poll (napo_complete_done() returns false) this is recorded to q_vector that we were in busy loop. 2) Extends i40e_buildreg_itr() to be able to add an enforced software interrupt into built value 2) In i40e_update_enable_itr() enforces a software interrupt trigger if we are exiting busy poll to catch any pending clean-ups 3) Reuses unused 3rd ITR (interrupt throttle) index and set it to 20K interrupts per second to limit the number of these sw interrupts. commit f37c4eac99c258111d414d31b740437e1925b8e8 upstream. To fix the regression introduced by commit 52424f974bc5, which causes servers hang in very hard to reproduce conditions with resets races. Using two sources for the information is the root cause. In this function before the fix bumping v didn't mean bumping vf pointer. But the code used this variables interchangeably, so stale vf could point to different/not intended vf. Remove redundant "v" variable and iterate via single VF pointer across whole function instead to guarantee VF pointer validity. 2024-04-10i40e: fix i40e_count_filters() to count only active/new filtersAleksandr Loktionov
commit eb58c598ce45b7e787568fe27016260417c3d807 upstream. The bug usually affects untrusted VFs, because they are limited to 18 MACs, it affects them badly, not letting to create MAC all filters. Not stable to reproduce, it happens when VF user creates MAC filters when other MACVLAN operations are happened in parallel. But consequence is that VF can't receive desired traffic. Fix counter to be bumped only for new or active filters. Commit 73d9629e1c8c ("i40e: Do not allow untrusted VF to remove administratively set MAC") fixed an issue where untrusted VF was allowed to remove its own MAC address although this was assigned administratively from PF. This is caused from the driver *only* calling the ice_vsi_free_q_vectors() function by itself, when it is suspending. Since commit b3e7b3a6ee92 ("ice: prevent NULL pointer deref during reload") the driver has zeroed out num_q_vectors, and only restored it in ice_vsi_cfg_def(). This further causes the ice_rebuild() function to allocate a zero length buffer, after which num_q_vectors is updated, and then the new value of num_q_vectors is used to index into the zero length buffer, which corrupts memory. The fix entails making sure all the code referencing num_q_vectors only does so after it has been reset via ice_vsi_cfg_def(). I didn't perform a full bisect, but I was able to test against 6.1.77 kernel and that ice driver works fine for suspend/resume with no panic, so sometime since then, this problem was introduced. 2024-03-26ice: fix stats being updated by way too large valuesPrzemek Kitszel
[ Upstream commit 257310e998700e60382fbd3f4fd275fdbd9b2aaf ] Simplify stats accumulation logic to fix the case where we don't take previous stat value into account, we should always respect it. Main netdev stats of our PF (Tx/Rx packets/bytes) were reported orders of magnitude too big during OpenStack reconfiguration events, possibly other reconfiguration cases too. The regression was reported to be between 6.1 and 6.2, so I was almost certain that on of the two "preserve stats over reset" commits were the culprit. While reading the code, it was found that in some cases we will increase the stats by arbitrarily large number (thanks to ignoring "-prev" part of condition, after zeroing it). Note that this fixes also the case where we were around limits of u64, but that was not the regression reported. 2024-03-15igc: avoid returning frame twice in XDP_REDIRECTFlorian Kauer
[ Upstream commit ef27f655b438bed4c83680e4f01e1cde2739854b ] When a frame can not be transmitted in XDP_REDIRECT (e.g. due to a full queue), it is necessary to free it by calling xdp_return_frame_rx_napi. However, this is the responsibility of the caller of the ndo_xdp_xmit (see for example bq_xmit_all in kernel/bpf/devmap.c) and thus calling it inside igc_xdp_xmit (which is the ndo_xdp_xmit of the igc driver) as well will lead to memory corruption. In fact, bq_xmit_all expects that it can return all frames after the last successfully transmitted one. Therefore, break for the first not transmitted frame, but do not call xdp_return_frame_rx_napi in igc_xdp_xmit. This is equally implemented in other Intel drivers such as the igb. There are two alternatives to this that were rejected: 1. Return num_frames as all the frames would have been transmitted and release them inside igc_xdp_xmit. While it might work technically, it is not what the return value is meant to represent (i.e. the number of SUCCESSFULLY transmitted packets). 2. Rework kernel/bpf/devmap.c and all drivers to support non-consecutively dropped packets. Besides being complex, it likely has a negative performance impact without a significant gain since it is anyway unlikely that the next frame can be transmitted if the previous one was dropped. The memory corruption can be reproduced with the following script which leads to a kernel panic after a few seconds. 2024-03-15ice: virtchnl: stop pretending to support RSS over AQ or registersJacob Keller
[ Upstream commit 2652b99e43403dc464f3648483ffb38e48872fe4 ] The E800 series hardware uses the same iAVF driver as older devices, including the virtchnl negotiation scheme. This negotiation scheme includes a mechanism to determine what type of RSS should be supported, including RSS over PF virtchnl messages, RSS over firmware AdminQ messages, and RSS via direct register access. The PF driver will always prefer VIRTCHNL_VF_OFFLOAD_RSS_PF if its supported by the VF driver. However, if an older VF driver is loaded, it may request only VIRTCHNL_VF_OFFLOAD_RSS_REG or VIRTCHNL_VF_OFFLOAD_RSS_AQ. The ice driver happily agrees to support these methods. Unfortunately, the underlying hardware does not support these mechanisms. The E800 series VFs don't have the appropriate registers for RSS_REG. The mailbox queue used by VFs for VF to PF communication blocks messages which do not have the VF-to-PF opcode. Stop lying to the VF that it could support RSS over AdminQ or registers, as these interfaces do not work when the hardware is operating on an E800 series device. In practice this is unlikely to be hit by any normal user. The iAVF driver has supported RSS over PF virtchnl commands since 2016, and always defaults to using RSS_PF if possible. In principle, nothing actually stops the existing VF from attempting to access the registers or send an AQ command. However a properly coded VF will check the capability flags and will report a more useful error if it detects a case where the driver does not support the RSS offloads that it does. 2024-02-05e1000e: correct maximum frequency adjustment valuesJacob Keller
[ Upstream commit f1f6a6b1830a8f1dc92ee26fae76333f446b0663 ] The e1000e driver supports hardware with a variety of different clock speeds, and thus a variety of different increment values used for programming its PTP hardware clock. The values currently programmed in e1000e_ptp_init are incorrect. In particular, only two maximum adjustments are used: 24000000 - 1, and 600000000 - 1. These were originally intended to be used with the 96 MHz clock and the 25 MHz clock. Both of these values are actually slightly too high. For the 96 MHz clock, the actual maximum value that can safely be programmed is 23,999,938. For the 25 MHz clock, the maximum value is 599,999,904. Worse, several devices use a 24 MHz clock or a 38.4 MHz clock. These parts are incorrectly assigned one of either the 24million or 600million values. For the 24 MHz clock, this is not a significant issue: its current increment value can support an adjustment up to 7billion in the positive direction. However, the 38.4 KHz clock uses an increment value which can only support up to 230,769,157 before it starts overflowing. To understand where these values come from, consider that frequency adjustments have the form of: new_incval = base_incval + (base_incval * adjustment) / (unit of adjustment) The maximum adjustment is reported in terms of parts per billion: new_incval = base_incval + (base_incval * adjustment) / 1 billion The largest possible adjustment is thus given by the following: max_incval = base_incval + (base_incval * max_adj) / 1 billion Re-arranging to solve for max_adj: max_adj = (max_incval - base_incval) * 1 billion / base_incval We also need to ensure that negative adjustments cannot underflow. This can be achieved simply by ensuring max_adj is always less than 1 billion. Introduce new macros in e1000.h codifying the maximum adjustment in PPB for each frequency given its associated increment values. Also clarify where these values come from by commenting about the above equations. Replace the switch statement in e1000e_ptp_init with one which mirrors the increment value switch statement from e1000e_get_base_timinica. For each device, assign the appropriate maximum adjustment based on its frequency. Some parts can have one of two frequency modes as determined by E1000_TSYNCRXCTL_SYSCFI. Since the new flow directly matches the assignments in e1000e_get_base_timinca, and uses well defined macro names, it is much easier to verify that the resulting maximum adjustments are correct. It also avoids difficult to parse construction such as the "hw->mac.type < e1000_phc_lpt", and the use of fallthrough which was especially confusing when combined with a conditional block. Note that I believe the current increment value configuration used for 24MHz clocks is sub-par, as it leaves at least 3 extra bits available in the INCVALUE register. However, fixing that requires more careful review of the clock rate and associated values. This is completely outside of normal, such that a developer could easily make a mistake and shift at the usage site (like when using FIELD_PREP()). Rename the defines and set them to the "pre-shifted values" so they match the template the driver normally uses for masks and the member bits of the mask, which also allows the driver to use FIELD_PREP correctly with these values. Use GENMASK() for this changed MASK value. Do the same for the VLAN EMODE defines as well. [ Upstream commit 2ee788c06493d02ee85855414cca39825e768aaf ] xdp_rxq_info struct can be registered by drivers via two functions - xdp_rxq_info_reg() and __xdp_rxq_info_reg(). The latter one allows drivers that support XDP multi-buffer to set up xdp_rxq_info::frag_size which in turn will make it possible to grow the packet via bpf_xdp_adjust_tail() BPF helper. Currently, ice registers xdp_rxq_info in two spots: 1) ice_setup_rx_ring() // via xdp_rxq_info_reg(), BUG 2) ice_vsi_cfg_rxq() // via __xdp_rxq_info_reg(), OK Cited commit under fixes tag took care of setting up frag_size and updated registration scheme in 2) but it did not help as 1) is called before 2) and as shown above it uses old registration function. This means that 2) sees that xdp_rxq_info is already registered and never calls __xdp_rxq_info_reg() which leaves us with xdp_rxq_info::frag_size being set to 0. To fix this misbehavior, simply remove xdp_rxq_info_reg() call from ice_setup_rx_ring(). For multi-buffer packets this may lead to reduction of frag count stored in skb_shared_info area of the xdp_buff struct. This results in issues with the current handling of XDP_PASS and XDP_DROP cases. For XDP_PASS, currently skb is being built using frag count of xdp_buffer before it was processed by XDP prog and thus will result in an inconsistent skb when frag count gets reduced by XDP prog. To fix this, get correct frag count while building the skb instead of using pre-obtained frag count. For XDP_DROP, current page recycling logic will not reuse the page but instead will adjust the pagecnt_bias so that the page can be freed. This again results in inconsistent behavior as the page refcnt has already been changed by the helper while freeing the frag(s) as part of shrinking the packet. To fix this, only adjust pagecnt_bias for buffers that are stillpart of the packet post-xdp prog run.
