In order to simplify the masters to set their respective dma masks, MTK
IOMMU helps to centralize the processing. Because all the dma ranges is
set in IOMMU, IOMMU knows well the dma mask requirements of masters. After
this patch, the masters(codec here) code does not need care
dma-ranges/dma_mask related information.

It is preferred to use typed property access functions (i.e.
of_property_read_<type> functions) rather than low-level
of_get_property/of_find_property functions for reading properties. As
part of this, convert of_get_property/of_find_property calls to the
recently added of_property_present() helper when we just want to test
for presence of a property and nothing more.

For performance and multi-chip support, use dynamic layout instead of

Divide the shared memory into the 3 64-bit aligned layouts listed below:

memory
The communication between the MDP3 kernel driver and SCP is to
pass a shared memory through the cooperation of "mtk-mdp3-vpu.c" and
remoteproc driver.
The data structure of this shared memory is defined in "mtk-img-ipi.h",
as shown below:
vpu->work_addr -> +-----------------------------------------+
| |
| To SCP : Input frame parameters |
| (struct img_ipi_frameparam) |
| |
vpu->pool -> +-----------------------------------------+
| |
| From SCP : Output component config pool |
| (struct img_config) |
| |
| *struct img_config 1 |
| | |
| | |
| v |
| *struct img_config N |
| (N = MDP_CONFIG_POOL_SIZE) |
+-----------------------------------------+
One output component configuration contains the components
currently used by the pipeline, and has the register settings
that each component needs to set.
Since the quantity, type and function of components on each chip
will vary, the effect is that the size of the "struct img_config"
and its substructures will be different on each chip.
In addition, all chips will have to update their SCP firmware for
every change if the output component config structure is defined
and shared by a common header.
Therefore, all functions that operate on "struct img_config" and
its substructures must be separated by chips and so are the
relevant definations.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored
and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a
quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this
quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns
void.
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

While the decoder can produce frames in both MM21 and MT21C formats, only
MM21 is currently supported by userspace tools (like gstreamer and libyuv).
In order to ensure userspace keeps working after the SCP firmware is

This is meant as a stopgap solution while dynamic format switching between

pm_runtime_put will set RPM_ASYNC flag then queue an idle-notification
request again, won't return error immediately until current request is
scheduled.
But pm_runtime_put_sync run the ->runtime_idle() callback directly, return
error immediately no matter whether current request is scheduled.

The new mdp3 driver uses 'select' to force-enable a couple of drivers
it depends on. This is error-prone and likely to cause dependency
loops as well as warnings like:
WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for VIDEO_MEDIATEK_VPU
Depends on [n]: MEDIA_SUPPORT [=m] && MEDIA_PLATFORM_SUPPORT [=y] && MEDIA_PLATFORM_DRIVERS [=y] && V4L_MEM2MEM_DRIVERS [=n] && VIDEO_DEV [=m] && (ARCH_MEDIATEK [=y] || COMPILE_TEST [=y])
Selected by [m]:
- VIDEO_MEDIATEK_MDP3 [=m] && MEDIA_SUPPORT [=m] && MEDIA_PLATFORM_SUPPORT [=y] && MEDIA_PLATFORM_DRIVERS [=y] && (MTK_IOMMU [=m] || COMPILE_TEST [=y]) && VIDEO_DEV [=m] && (ARCH_MEDIATEK [=y] || COMPILE_TEST [=y]) && HAS_DMA [=y] && REMOTEPROC [=y]
This specific warning was already addressed in a previous patch,
but there are similar unnecessary 'select' statements, so turn those
into 'depends on'. This also means the dependency on ARCH_MEDIATEK
is redundant and can be dropped.

returns ERR_PTR() and never returns NULL. The NULL test in the
