2023-12-04media: v4l2-subdev: Rename .init_cfg() operation to .init_state()Laurent Pinchart
The subdev .init_cfg() operation is affected by two issues: - It has long been extended to initialize a whole v4l2_subdev_state instead of just a v4l2_subdev_pad_config, but its name has stuck around. - Despite operating on a whole subdev state and not being directly exposed to the subdev users (either in-kernel or through the userspace API), .init_cfg() is categorized as a subdev pad operation. This participates in making the subdev API confusing for new developers. Fix it by renaming the operation to .init_state(), and make it a subdev internal operation. 2023-09-27media: i2c: hi846: Drop system suspend and resume handlersLaurent Pinchart
Stopping streaming on a camera pipeline at system suspend time, and restarting it at system resume time, requires coordinated action between the bridge driver and the camera sensor driver. This is handled by the bridge driver calling the sensor's .s_stream() handler at system suspend and resume time. There is thus no need for the sensor to independently implement system sleep PM operations. Drop them. Now that the runtime PM operations are not called from the system PM handlers, the sensor is guaranteed not to be streaming when the runtime PM resume handler is called, and to have been stopped already when the runtime PM suspend handler is called. Drop the manual stream start/stop from the runtime PM handlers. 2023-05-25media: hi846: fix usage of pm_runtime_get_if_in_use()Martin Kepplinger
pm_runtime_get_if_in_use() does not only return nonzero values when the device is in use, it can return a negative errno too. And especially during resuming from system suspend, when runtime pm is not yet up again, -EAGAIN is being returned, so the subsequent pm_runtime_put() call results in a refcount underflow. Fix system-resume by handling -EAGAIN of pm_runtime_get_if_in_use(). 2022-08-16i2c: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König
The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. 2021-12-16media: i2c: hi846: use pm_runtime_force_suspend/resume for system suspendMartin Kepplinger
In cases like this when controlling regulators and clocks the suspend() and resume() functions are meant to be called balanced toggling the behaviour. It's wrong to use the same suspend function for runtime and system suspend in this case and leads to errors like [ 77.718890] Failed to disable vddd: -EIO Use pm_runtime_force_* helpers in order to support system suspend properly when runtime pm is already implemented and fix this. The SK Hynix Hi-846 is a 1/4" 8M Pixel CMOS Image Sensor. It supports usual features like I2C control, CSI-2 for frame data, digital/analog gain control or test patterns. This driver supports the 640x480, 1280x720 and 1632x1224 resolution modes. It supports runtime PM in order not to draw any unnecessary power. The part is also called YACG4D0C9SHC and a datasheet can be found at https://product.skhynix.com/products/cis/cis.go The large sets of partly undocumented register values are for example found when searching for the hi846_mipi_raw_Sensor.c Android driver.
