2023-05-25media: Switch i2c drivers back to use .probe()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new() call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then commit 03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from struct i2c_driver. 2023-04-11media: i2c: adv748x: Report correct DV timings for pattern generatorNiklas Söderlund
If the pattern generator is enabled the device shall not be queried for timings. Instead the timings programmed shall be reported as they are the ones being used to generate the pattern. Before this change an external HDMI source needed to be connected for the pattern generator to work. The driver would query this external HDMI source for timings and program the pattern generator using those. With this change the user can control the timings and have the pattern generator work without the need of an external HDMI source being connected. 2023-04-11media: i2c: adv748x: Write initial DV timings to deviceNiklas Söderlund
When initializing the HDMI block during probe an initial set of timings are selected. These timings are stored in the drivers private data, but not written to the device. This in itself is not bad, but in s_dv_timings() the timings stored in the drivers private data are compared to the new timings, if they match no action is taken. This creates the corner-case where the timing selected at initialization is the first timings a user want to use as the driver then never writes it to the device preventing proper operation. Fix this by writing the timings to the device at initialization in addition to storing them in the drivers private data. 2023-04-11media: i2c: adv748x: Fix lookup of DV timingsNiklas Söderlund
The loop to match the requested timings with the ones supported by the driver is incorrect. It always iterates thru the whole array of supported modes. The bounds check after the loop always triggers resulting in adv748x_hdmi_set_video_timings() always returning -EINVAL. Fix this by correcting the lookup to break the loop when a match is found. 2022-10-24media: adv748x: afe: Select input port when initializing AFENiklas Söderlund
When moving the input selection to adv748x_reset() it was missed that during probe the device is reset _before_ the initialization and parsing of DT by the AFE subdevice. This can lead to the wrong input port (in case it's not port 0) being selected until the device is reset for the first time. Fix this by restoring the call to adv748x_afe_s_input() in the AFE initialization while also keeping it in the adv748x_reset(). 2022-08-16i2c: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König
The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. 2022-02-17media: v4l2-mediabus: Use structures to describe bus configurationLaurent Pinchart
The media bus configuration is specified through a set of flags, some of which being mutually exclusive. This doesn't scale to express more complex configurations. Improve the API by replacing the single flags field in v4l2_mbus_config by a union of v4l2_mbus_config_* structures. The flags themselves are still used in those structures, so they are kept here. Drivers are however updated to use structure fields instead of flags when already possible. 2021-06-17media: v4l2-subdev: add subdev-wide state structTomi Valkeinen
We have 'struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config' which contains configuration for a single pad used for the TRY functionality, and an array of those structs is passed to various v4l2_subdev_pad_ops. I was working on subdev internal routing between pads, and realized that there's no way to add TRY functionality for routes, which is not pad specific configuration. Adding a separate struct for try-route config wouldn't work either, as e.g. set-fmt needs to know the try-route configuration to propagate the settings. This patch adds a new struct, 'struct v4l2_subdev_state' (which at the moment only contains the v4l2_subdev_pad_config array) and the new struct is used in most of the places where v4l2_subdev_pad_config was used. All v4l2_subdev_pad_ops functions taking v4l2_subdev_pad_config are changed to instead take v4l2_subdev_state. The changes to drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-subdev.c and include/media/v4l2-subdev.h were written by hand, and all the driver changes were done with the semantic patch below. The spatch needs to be applied to a select list of directories. I used the following shell commands to apply the spatch: dirs="drivers/media/i2c drivers/media/platform drivers/media/usb drivers/media/test-drivers/vimc drivers/media/pci drivers/staging/media" for dir in $dirs; do spatch -j8 --dir --include-headers --no-show-diff --in-place --sp-file v4l2-subdev-state.cocci $dir; done Note that Coccinelle chokes on a few drivers (gcc extensions?). With minor changes we can make Coccinelle run fine, and these changes can be reverted after spatch. The ADV748x has 12 pages mapped onto I2C addresses. The error handling for the adv748x_identify_chip() call erroneously jumps to the err_cleanup_clients label before the clients have been established. Correct this by jumping to the next (and correct) label in the cleanup code: err_cleanup_dt. 2018-02-26media: i2c: adv748x: fix HDMI field heightsKieran Bingham
The ADV748x handles interlaced media using V4L2_FIELD_ALTERNATE field types. The correct specification for the height on the mbus is the image height, in this instance, the field height. The AFE component already correctly adjusts the height on the mbus, but the HDMI component got left behind. Adjust the mbus height to correctly describe the image height of the fields when processing interlaced video for HDMI pipelines.
