2022-10-19drm: xlnx: zynqmp_dpsub: Don't access connector in zynqmp_dp_set_format()Laurent Pinchart
To prepare for the removal of the connector from the DP encoder, pass the display info pointer to the zynqmp_dp_set_format() function instead of accessing the connector internally. The display info is NULL when the function is called at initialization time, as we have no display info at that point. This doesn't change the existing behaviour, given that the zynqmp_dp_set_format() was already handling this as a special case (the display info isn't initialized at init time and is all zeroes). 2022-10-19drm: xlnx: zynqmp_dpsub: Create DRM bridge to model DP encoderLaurent Pinchart
The DP encoder is currently modelled as a DRM encoder and DRM connector. This doesn't support system configurations where the DP encoder is driven by the FPGA programmable logic, using the live video input to the DP subsystem. To enable such use cases, we need to model the encoder as a DRM bridge. As a first step, create a DRM bridge in the DP encoder driver. Move and delegate the implementation of the DRM encoder and connector operations to the bridge to prepare for the transition. The bridge will be registered with the DRM core as a separate change. 2022-10-19drm: xlnx: zynqmp_dpsub: Constify mode argument to functionLaurent Pinchart
The zynqmp_dp_encoder_mode_set_transfer_unit() function takes a mode pointer argument that it doesn't need to modify. Make it const. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com>
2022-10-19drm: xlnx: zynqmp_dpsub: Switch to atomic encoder enable/disableLaurent Pinchart
To prepare for the transition to the DRM bridge API, switch the encoder operations to the atomic versions of .enable() and .disable(). This doesn't cause any functional change by itself. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com>

2022-04-25drm: Rename dp/ to display/Thomas Zimmermann
Rename dp/ to display/ to account for additional display-related helpers, such as HDMI. Update all related include statements. No functional changes. Various drivers, such as i915 and amdgpu, use similar naming scheme by putting code for video-output standards into a local display/ directory. The new directory's name is aligned with this convention. v2: * update commit message (Javier) Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Lyude Paul <lyude@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20220421073108.19226-3-tzimmermann@suse.de

2021-08-09drm: xlnx: zynqmp: release reset to DP controller before accessing DP registersQuanyang Wang
When insmod zynqmp-dpsub.ko after rmmod it, system will hang with the error log as below: root@xilinx-zynqmp:~# insmod zynqmp-dpsub.ko [ 88.391289] [drm] Initialized zynqmp-dpsub 1.0.0 20130509 for fd4a0000.display on minor 0 [ 88.529906] Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 128x48 [ 88.549402] zynqmp-dpsub fd4a0000.display: [drm] fb0: zynqmp-dpsubdrm frame buffer device [ 88.571624] zynqmp-dpsub fd4a0000.display: ZynqMP DisplayPort Subsystem driver probed root@xilinx-zynqmp:~# rmmod zynqmp_dpsub [ 94.023404] Console: switching to colour dummy device 80x25 root@xilinx-zynqmp:~# insmod zynqmp-dpsub.ko <hang here> This is because that in zynqmp_dp_probe it tries to access some DP registers while the DP controller is still in the reset state. When running "rmmod zynqmp_dpsub", zynqmp_dp_reset(dp, true) in zynqmp_dp_phy_exit is called to force the DP controller into the reset state. Then insmod will call zynqmp_dp_probe to program the DP registers, but at this moment the DP controller hasn't been brought out of the reset state yet since the function zynqmp_dp_reset(dp, false) is called later and this will result the system hang. Releasing the reset to DP controller before any read/write operation to it will fix this issue. And for symmetry, move zynqmp_dp_reset() call from zynqmp_dp_phy_exit() to zynqmp_dp_remove(). 2021-04-27drm/dp: Add backpointer to drm_device in drm_dp_auxLyude Paul
This is something that we've wanted for a while now: the ability to actually look up the respective drm_device for a given drm_dp_aux struct. This will also allow us to transition over to using the drm_dbg_*() helpers for debug message printing, as we'll finally have a drm_device to reference for doing so. Note that there is one limitation with this - because some DP AUX adapters exist as platform devices which are initialized independently of their respective DRM devices, one cannot rely on drm_dp_aux->drm_dev to always be non-NULL until drm_dp_aux_register() has been called. We make sure to point this out in the documentation for struct drm_dp_aux. v3: * Add WARN_ON_ONCE() to drm_dp_aux_register() if drm_dev isn't filled out Signed-off-by: Lyude Paul <lyude@redhat.com> Acked-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20210423184309.207645-4-lyude@redhat.com Reviewed-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>

2020-07-18drm: xlnx: DRM/KMS driver for Xilinx ZynqMP DisplayPort SubsystemHyun Kwon
The Xilinx ZynqMP SoC has a hardened display pipeline named DisplayPort Subsystem. It includes a buffer manager, a video pipeline renderer (blender), an audio mixer and a DisplayPort source controller (transmitter). The DMA engine the provide data to the buffer manager, as well as the DisplayPort PHYs that drive the lanes, are external to the subsystem and interfaced using the DMA engine and PHY APIs respectively. This driver supports the DisplayPort Subsystem and implements - Two planes, for graphics and video - One CRTC that supports alpha blending - One encoder for the DisplayPort transmitter - One connector for an external monitor It currently doesn't support - Color keying - Test pattern generation - Audio - Live input from the Programmable Logic (FPGA) - Output to the Programmable Logic (FPGA) Signed-off-by: Hyun Kwon <hyun.kwon@xilinx.com> Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com>
