2023-06-08drm/i915/gvt: remove unused variable gma_bottom in command parserZhi Wang
Remove unused variable gma_bottom in scan_workload() and scan_wa_ctx(). commit be1da7070aea ("drm/i915/gvt: vGPU command scanner") introduces gma_bottom in several functions to calculate the size of the command buffer. However, some of them are set but actually unused. When compiling the code with ccflags -Wunused-but-set-variable, gcc throws warnings. Remove unused variables to avoid the gcc warnings. Tested via compiling the code with ccflags -Wunused-but-set-variable. 2023-02-23i915: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup()Greg Kroah-Hartman
When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it, otherwise the memory will leak over time. To make things simpler, just call debugfs_lookup_and_remove() instead which handles all of the logic at once. 2023-02-23drm/i915/gvt: Avoid full proxy f_ops for debugfs attributesDeepak R Varma
Using DEFINE_SIMPLE_ATTRIBUTE macro with the debugfs_create_file() function adds the overhead of introducing a proxy file operation functions to wrap the original read/write inside file removal protection functions. This adds significant overhead in terms of introducing and managing the proxy factory file operations structure and function wrapping at runtime. As a replacement, a combination of DEFINE_DEBUGFS_ATTRIBUTE macro paired with debugfs_create_file_unsafe() is suggested to be used instead. The DEFINE_DEBUGFS_ATTRIBUTE utilises debugfs_file_get() and debugfs_file_put() wrappers to protect the original read and write function calls for the debug attributes. There is no need for any runtime proxy file operations to be managed by the debugfs core. 2023-02-17drm/i915: s/PIPECONF/TRANSCONF/Ville Syrjälä
Rename PIPECONF to TRANSCONF to make it clear what it actually applies to. While the usual convention is to pick the earliers name I think in this case it's more clear to use the later name. Especially as even the register offset is in the wrong range (0x70000 vs. 0x60000) and thus makes it look like this is per-pipe. There is one place in gvt that's doing something with TRANSCONF while iterating with for_each_pipe(). So that might not be doing the right thing for TRANSCODER_EDP, dunno. 2023-02-17drm/i915: Give CPU transcoder timing registers TRANS_ prefixVille Syrjälä
Name the CPU transcoder timing registers TRANS_FOO rather than just FOO. This is the modern name, after the pipe/transcoder split happened. Makes it a bit more obvious whether you pass in a pipe or a transcoder. PIPESRC is a bit special as it's a pipe register, even though it lives in the transcoder registers range (0x60000 instead of 0x70000). And BCLRPAT I suppose is a transcoder register (since it has something to do with the timing generator), but it doesn't even exist after gen4 so I left it to use the only name it ever had in bspec. And while at it let's pass in the correct enum in few more places why don't we. Although in all those places the distinction doesn't matter. One-element arrays are deprecated, and we are replacing them with flexible array members instead. So, replace one-element array with flexible-array member in struct gvt_firmware_header and refactor the rest of the code accordingly. Additionally, previous implementation was allocating 8 bytes more than required to represent firmware_header + cfg_space data + mmio data. This helps with the ongoing efforts to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy() and help us make progress towards globally enabling -fstrict-flex-arrays=3 [1]. 2023-01-25drm/i915/display: add intel_display_limits.h for key enumsJani Nikula
Move a handful of key enums to a new file intel_display_limits.h. These are the enum types, and the MAX/NUM enumerations within them, that are used in other headers. Otherwise, there's no common theme between them. Replace intel_display.h include with intel_display_limit.h where relevant, and add the intel_display.h include directly in the .c files where needed. Since intel_display.h is used almost everywhere in display/, include it from intel_display_types.h to avoid massive changes across the board. There are very few files that would need intel_display_types.h but not intel_display.h so this is neglible, and further cleanup between these headers can be left for the future. Overall this change drops the direct and indirect dependencies on intel_display.h from about 300 to about 100 compilation units, because we can drop the include from i915_drv.h. 2023-01-04drm/i915/gvt: fix double free bug in split_2MB_gtt_entryZheng Wang
If intel_gvt_dma_map_guest_page failed, it will call ppgtt_invalidate_spt, which will finally free the spt. But the caller function ppgtt_populate_spt_by_guest_entry does not notice that, it will free spt again in its error path. Fix this by canceling the mapping of DMA address and freeing sub_spt. Besides, leave the handle of spt destroy to caller function instead of callee function when error occurs. 2022-12-30drm/i915: Check for integer truncation on scatterlist creationChris Wilson
There is an impedance mismatch between the scatterlist API using unsigned int and our memory/page accounting in unsigned long. That is we may try to create a scatterlist for a large object that overflows returning a small table into which we try to fit very many pages. As the object size is under the control of userspace, we have to be prudent and catch the conversion errors. To catch the implicit truncation we check before calling scattterlist creation Apis. we use overflows_type check and report E2BIG if the overflows may raise. When caller does not return errno, use WARN_ON to report a problem. This is already used in our create ioctls to indicate if the uABI request is simply too large for the backing store. It takes over from drivers/vfio/vfio_iommu_type1.c (aka the VFIO container) which is the VFIO specific interface for a similar idea. We see a broad need for extended features, some being highly IOMMU device specific: - Binding iommu_domain's to PASID/SSID - Userspace IO page tables, for ARM, x86 and S390 - Kernel bypassed invalidation of user page tables - Re-use of the KVM page table in the IOMMU - Dirty page tracking in the IOMMU - Runtime Increase/Decrease of IOPTE size - PRI support with faults resolved in userspace Many of these HW features exist to support VM use cases - for instance the combination of PASID, PRI and Userspace IO Page Tables allows an implementation of DMA Shared Virtual Addressing (vSVA) within a guest. Dirty tracking enables VM live migration with SRIOV devices and PASID support allow creating "scalable IOV" devices, among other things. Emulated VFIO devices are calling vfio_register_emulated_iommu_dev() and consist of all the mdev drivers. Like the physical drivers, support for iommufd is provided by the driver supplying the correct standard ops. Provide ops from the core that duplicate what vfio_register_emulated_iommu_dev() does. Emulated drivers are where it is more likely to see variation in the iommfd support ops. For instance IDXD will probably need to setup both a iommfd_device context linked to a PASID and an iommufd_access context to support all their mdev operations. 2022-12-02i915/gvt: Move gvt mapping cache initialization to intel_vgpu_init_dev()Yi Liu
vfio container registers .dma_unmap() callback after the device is opened. So it's fine for mdev drivers to initialize internal mapping cache in .open_device(). See vfio_device_container_register(). Now with iommufd an access ops with an unmap callback is registered when the device is bound to iommufd which is before .open_device() is called. This implies gvt's .dma_unmap() could be called before its internal mapping cache is initialized. The fix is moving gvt mapping cache initialization to vGPU init. While at it also move ptable initialization together. 2022-11-17i915/gvt: remove hardcoded value on crc32_start calculationPaulo Miguel Almeida
struct gvt_firmware_header has a crc32 member in which all members that come after the that field are used to calculate it. The previous implementation added the value '4' (crc32's u32 size) to calculate the crc32_start offset which came across as a bit cryptic until you take a deeper look at the struct. This patch changes crc32_start offset to the 'version' member which is the first member of the struct gvt_firmware_header after crc32. It's worth mentioning that doing a build before/after this patch results in no binary output differences. Turns out many of the files that need i915_reg.h get it implicitly via {display/intel_de.h, gt/intel_context.h} -> i915_trace.h -> i915_irq.h -> i915_reg.h. Since i915_trace.h doesn't actually need i915_irq.h, makes sense to drop it, but that requires adding quite a few new includes all over the place. Prefer including i915_reg.h where needed instead of adding another implicit include, because eventually we'll want to split up i915_reg.h and only include the specific registers at each place. Also some places actually needed i915_irq.h too. We rely on page_sizes.sg in setup_scratch_page() reporting the correct value if the underlying sgl is not contiguous, however in get_pages_internal() we are only looking at the layout of the created pages when calculating the sg_page_sizes, and not the final sgl, which could in theory be completely different. In such a situation we might incorrectly think we have a 64K scratch page, when it is actually only 4K or similar split over multiple non-contiguous entries, which could lead to broken behaviour when touching the scratch space within the padding of a 64K GTT page-table.
