2023-03-20drm/bridge: dw-hdmi-i2s-audio: Convert to platform remove callback returning ↵Uwe Kleine-König
void The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. commit f77a066f4ed307d ("ASoC: hdmi-codec: Allow playback and capture to be disabled") added new no_i2s_playback/capture. 2022-06-13ASoC: hdmi-codec: Update to modern DAI terminologyMark Brown
As part of retiring the old defines used to specify DAI formats update the hdmi_codec driver to use the modern names, including the variables in the struct hdmi_codec_daifmt exported to the DRM drivers. In updating this I did note that the only use of this information in DRM drivers is to reject clock provider settings, thinking about what this hardware is doing I rather suspect that there might not be any hardware out there which needs the configuration so it may be worth considering just having hdmi-codec support only clock consumer. 2021-11-12drm/bridge: dw-hdmi: handle ELD when DRM_BRIDGE_ATTACH_NO_CONNECTORNeil Armstrong
The current ELD handling takes the internal connector ELD buffer and shares it to the I2S and AHB sub-driver. But with DRM_BRIDGE_ATTACH_NO_CONNECTOR, the connector is created elsewhere (or not), and an eventual connector is known only if the bridge chain up to a connector is enabled. The current dw-hdmi code gets the current connector from atomic_enable() so use the already stored connector pointer and replace the buffer pointer with a callback returning the current connector ELD buffer. Since a connector is not always available, either pass an empty ELD to the alsa HDMI driver or don't call snd_pcm_hw_constraint_eld() in AHB driver. 2019-10-29drm: bridge: dw-hdmi: Report connector status using callbackCheng-Yi Chiang
Allow codec driver register callback function for plug event. The callback registration flow: dw-hdmi <--- hw-hdmi-i2s-audio <--- hdmi-codec dw-hdmi-i2s-audio implements hook_plugged_cb op so codec driver can register the callback. dw-hdmi exports a function dw_hdmi_set_plugged_cb so platform device can register the callback. When connector plug/unplug event happens, report this event using the callback. Make sure that audio and drm are using the single source of truth for connector status. 2019-09-13drm: bridge/dw_hdmi: add audio sample channel status settingYakir Yang
When transmitting IEC60985 linear PCM audio, we configure the Aduio Sample Channel Status information in the IEC60958 frame. The status bit is already available in iec.status of hdmi_codec_params. This fix the issue that audio does not come out on some monitors (e.g. LG 22CV241) Note that these registers are only for interfaces: I2S audio interface, General Purpose Audio (GPA), or AHB audio DMA (AHBAUDDMA). For S/PDIF interface this information comes from the stream. Currently this function dw_hdmi_set_channel_status is only called from dw-hdmi-i2s-audio in I2S setup. 2019-09-02drm: dw-hdmi-i2s: enable audio clock in audio_startupCheng-Yi Chiang
In the designware databook, the sequence of enabling audio clock and setting format is not clearly specified. Currently, audio clock is enabled in the end of hw_param ops after setting format. On some monitors, there is a possibility that audio does not come out. Fix this by enabling audio clock in audio_startup ops before hw_param ops setting format. 2017-06-28drm: dw-hdmi-i2s: add .get_dai_id callback for ALSA SoCKuninori Morimoto
ALSA SoC needs to know connected DAI ID for probing. It is not a big problem if device/driver was only for sound, but getting DAI ID will be difficult if device includes both Video/Sound, like HDMI. To solve this issue, this patch adds new .get_dai_id callback on hdmi_codec_ops. dw-hdmi-i2s will assume that HDMI sound will be connected to reg = <2>. Then, ALSA SoC side will recognized it as DAI 0 ports { #address-cells = <1>; #size-cells = <0>; port@0 { reg = <0>; /* HDMI Video IN */ }; port@1 { reg = <1>; /* HDMI OUT */ }; port@2 { reg = <2>; /* HDMI Sound IN */ }; }; Signed-off-by: Kuninori Morimoto <kuninori.morimoto.gx@renesas.com> Acked-by: Archit Taneja <architt@codeaurora.org> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org>
