2023-01-18drm/arm/komeda: Remove unnecessary include statements for drm_crtc_helper.hThomas Zimmermann
Several source files include drm_crtc_helper.h without needing it or only to get its transitive include statements; leading to unnecessary compile-time dependencies. Drop drm_crtc_helper.h where possible. v2: * update commit message (Sam) Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Acked-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Acked-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230116131235.18917-5-tzimmermann@suse.de
2023-01-13drm: Include <linux/of.h> where neededThomas Zimmermann
Include <linux/of.h> in source files that need it. Some of DRM's source code gets OF header via drm_crtc_helper.h and <linux/fb.h>, which can leed to unnecessary recompilation. In drm_modes.c, add a comment on the reason for still including <linux/fb.h>. The header file is required to get KHZ2PICOS(). The macro is part of the UAPI headers, so it cannot be moved to a less prominent location. v2: * include <linux/of.h> in komeda_drv.c (kernel test robot) Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Acked-by: Liviu Dudau <liviu.dudau@arm.com> # komeda Acked-by: Maxime Ripard <maxime@cerno.tech> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230111130206.29974-3-tzimmermann@suse.de

2022-11-05drm/komeda: Don't set struct drm_driver.lastcloseThomas Zimmermann
Don't set struct drm_driver.lastclose. It's used to restore the fbdev console. But as komeda uses generic fbdev emulation, the console is being restored by the DRM client helpers already. 2022-08-03drm/gem: rename struct drm_gem_dma_object.{paddr => dma_addr}Danilo Krummrich
The field paddr of struct drm_gem_dma_object holds a DMA address, which might actually be a physical address. However, depending on the platform, it can also be a bus address or a virtual address managed by an IOMMU. Hence, rename the field to dma_addr, which is more applicable. In order to do this renaming the following coccinelle script was used: ``` @@ struct drm_gem_dma_object *gem; @@ - gem->paddr + gem->dma_addr @@ struct drm_gem_dma_object gem; @@ - gem.paddr + gem.dma_addr @exists@ typedef dma_addr_t; symbol paddr; @@ dma_addr_t paddr; <... - paddr + dma_addr ...> @@ symbol paddr; @@ dma_addr_t - paddr + dma_addr ; ``` This patch is compile-time tested with: ``` make ARCH={x86_64,arm,arm64} allyesconfig make ARCH={x86_64,arm,arm64} drivers/gpu/drm` ``` Acked-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Suggested-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Signed-off-by: Danilo Krummrich <dakr@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20220802000405.949236-5-dakr@redhat.com
2022-08-03drm/gem: rename GEM CMA helpers to GEM DMA helpersDanilo Krummrich
Rename "GEM CMA" helpers to "GEM DMA" helpers - considering the hierarchy of APIs (mm/cma -> dma -> gem dma) calling them "GEM DMA" seems to be more applicable. Besides that, commit e57924d4ae80 ("drm/doc: Task to rename CMA helpers") requests to rename the CMA helpers and implies that people seem to be confused about the naming. In order to do this renaming the following script was used: ``` #!/bin/bash DIRS="drivers/gpu include/drm Documentation/gpu" REGEX_SYM_UPPER="[0-9A-Z_\-]" REGEX_SYM_LOWER="[0-9a-z_\-]" REGEX_GREP_UPPER="(${REGEX_SYM_UPPER}*)(GEM)_CMA_(${REGEX_SYM_UPPER}*)" REGEX_GREP_LOWER="(${REGEX_SYM_LOWER}*)(gem)_cma_(${REGEX_SYM_LOWER}*)" REGEX_SED_UPPER="s/${REGEX_GREP_UPPER}/\1\2_DMA_\3/g" REGEX_SED_LOWER="s/${REGEX_GREP_LOWER}/\1\2_dma_\3/g" # Find all upper case 'CMA' symbols and replace them with 'DMA'. for ff in $(grep -REHl "${REGEX_GREP_UPPER}" $DIRS) do sed -i -E "$REGEX_SED_UPPER" $ff done # Find all lower case 'cma' symbols and replace them with 'dma'. for ff in $(grep -REHl "${REGEX_GREP_LOWER}" $DIRS) do sed -i -E "$REGEX_SED_LOWER" $ff done # Replace all occurrences of 'CMA' / 'cma' in comments and # documentation files with 'DMA' / 'dma'. for ff in $(grep -RiHl " cma " $DIRS) do sed -i -E "s/ cma / dma /g" $ff sed -i -E "s/ CMA / DMA /g" $ff done # Rename all 'cma_obj's to 'dma_obj'. for ff in $(grep -RiHl "cma_obj" $DIRS) do sed -i -E "s/cma_obj/dma_obj/g" $ff done ``` Only a few more manual modifications were needed, e.g. reverting the following modifications in some DRM Kconfig files - select CMA if HAVE_DMA_CONTIGUOUS + select DMA if HAVE_DMA_CONTIGUOUS as well as manually picking the occurrences of 'CMA'/'cma' in comments and documentation which relate to "GEM CMA", but not "FB CMA". 2022-07-22drm/komeda: Fix handling of atomic commits in the atomic_commit_tail hookLiviu Dudau
Komeda driver relies on the generic DRM atomic helper functions to handle commits. It only implements an atomic_commit_tail hook for the mode_config_helper_funcs and even that one is pretty close to the generic implementation with the exception of additional dma_fence signalling. What the generic helper framework doesn't do is waiting for the actual hardware to signal that the commit parameters have been written into the appropriate registers. As we signal CRTC events only on the irq handlers, we need to flush the configuration and wait for the hardware to respond. Add the Komeda specific implementation for atomic_commit_hw_done() that flushes and waits for flip done before calling drm_atomic_helper_commit_hw_done(). The fix was prompted by a patch from Carsten Haitzler where he was trying to solve the same issue but in a different way that I think can lead to wrong event signaling to userspace. 2022-07-22drm/komeda - At init write GCU control block to handle already on DPUCarsten Haitzler
If something has already set up the DPU before the komeda driver comes up, it will fail to init because it was just writing to the SRST bit in the GCU control register and ignoring others. This resulted in TBU bringup stalling and init failing. By writing completely we also set the mode back to 0 (inactive) too and thus TBU bringup works. 2022-04-11drm/komeda: Fix an undefined behavior bug in komeda_plane_add()Zhou Qingyang
In komeda_plane_add(), komeda_get_layer_fourcc_list() is assigned to formats and used in drm_universal_plane_init(). drm_universal_plane_init() passes formats to __drm_universal_plane_init(). __drm_universal_plane_init() further passes formats to memcpy() as src parameter, which could lead to an undefined behavior bug on failure of komeda_get_layer_fourcc_list(). Fix this bug by adding a check of formats. This bug was found by a static analyzer. The analysis employs differential checking to identify inconsistent security operations (e.g., checks or kfrees) between two code paths and confirms that the inconsistent operations are not recovered in the current function or the callers, so they constitute bugs. Note that, as a bug found by static analysis, it can be a false positive or hard to trigger. Multiple researchers have cross-reviewed the bug. Builds with CONFIG_DRM_KOMEDA=m show no new warnings, and our static analyzer no longer warns about this code. 2021-02-23drm/komeda: Annotate dma-fence critical section in commit pathDaniel Vetter
Like the helpers, nothing special. Well except not, because we the critical section extends until after hw_done(), since that's the last thing which could hold up a subsequent atomic commit. That means the wait_for_flip_done is included, but that's not a problem, we're allowed to call dma_fence_wait() from signalling critical sections. Even on our own fence (which this does), it's just a bit confusing. But in a way those last 2 function calls are already part of the fence signalling critical section for the next atomic commit. Reading this I'm wondering why komeda waits for flip_done() before calling hw_done(), which is a bit backwards (but hey hw can be special). Might be good to throw a comment in there that explains why, because the original commit that added this just doesn't. v2: Small rebase Reviewed-by: James Qian Wang <james.qian.wang@arm.com> (v1) Cc: "James (Qian) Wang" <james.qian.wang@arm.com> Cc: Liviu Dudau <liviu.dudau@arm.com> Cc: Mihail Atanassov <mihail.atanassov@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20210121152959.1725404-5-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch

2020-11-02drm/atomic: Pass the full state to CRTC atomic_checkMaxime Ripard
