2021-12-13drm/amdkfd: Don't split unchanged SVM rangesFelix Kuehling
If an existing SVM range overlaps an svm_range_set_attr call, we would normally split it in order to update only the overlapping part. However, if the attributes of the existing range would not be changed splitting it is unnecessary. 2021-12-13drm/amdkfd: Fix svm_range_is_same_attrsFelix Kuehling
The existing function doesn't compare the access bitmaps and flags. This can result in failure to update those attributes in existing ranges when all other attributes remained unchanged. Because the access and flags attributes modify only some bits in the respective bitmaps, we cannot compare them directly. Instead we need to check whether applying the attributes to a particular range would change the bitmaps. A PREFETCH_LOC attribute must always trigger a migration, even if the attribute value remains unchanged. E.g. if some pages were migrated due to a CPU page fault, a prefetch must still be executed to migrate pages back to VRAM. 2021-11-09drm/amdkfd: Fix retry fault drain race conditionsFelix Kuehling
The check for whether to drain retry faults must be under the mmap write lock to serialize with munmap notifier callbacks. We were also missing checks on child ranges. To fix that, simplify the logic by using a flag rather than checking on each prange. That also allows draining less freqeuntly when many ranges are unmapped at once. 2021-11-05drm/amdkfd: avoid recursive lock in migrations back to RAMAlex Sierra
[Why]: When we call hmm_range_fault to map memory after a migration, we don't expect memory to be migrated again as a result of hmm_range_fault. The driver ensures that all memory is in GPU-accessible locations so that no migration should be needed. However, there is one corner case where hmm_range_fault can unexpectedly cause a migration from DEVICE_PRIVATE back to system memory due to a write-fault when a system memory page in the same range was mapped read-only (e.g. COW). Ranges with individual pages in different locations are usually the result of failed page migrations (e.g. page lock contention). The unexpected migration back to system memory causes a deadlock from recursive locking in our driver. [How]: Creating a task reference new member under svm_range_list struct. Setting this with "current" reference, right before the hmm_range_fault is called. This member is checked against "current" reference at svm_migrate_to_ram callback function. If equal, the migration will be ignored. Signed-off-by: Alex Sierra <alex.sierra@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Felix Kuehling <Felix.Kuehling@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>

2021-10-08drm/amdkfd: rm BO resv on validation to avoid deadlockAlex Sierra
This fix the deadlock with the BO reservations during SVM_BO evictions while allocations in VRAM are concurrently performed. More specific, while the ttm waits for the fence to be signaled (ttm_bo_wait), it already has the BO reserved. In parallel, the restore worker might be running, prefetching memory to VRAM. This also requires to reserve the BO, but blocks the mmap semaphore first. The deadlock happens when the SVM_BO eviction worker kicks in and waits for the mmap semaphore held in restore worker. Preventing signal the fence back, causing the deadlock until the ttm times out. We don't need to hold the BO reservation anymore during validation and mapping. Now the physical addresses are taken from hmm_range_fault. We also take migrate_mutex to prevent range migration while validate_and_map update GPU page table. prange->offset is for VRAM range mm_nodes, if multiple ranges share same mm_nodes, migrate range back to VRAM will reuse the VRAM at offset of the same mm_nodes. For system memory pages_addr array, the offset is always 0, otherwise, update GPU mapping will use incorrect system memory page, and cause system memory corruption. 2021-06-02drm/ttm: rename bo->mem and make it a pointerChristian König
When we want to decouble resource management from buffer management we need to be able to handle resources separately. Add a resource pointer and rename bo->mem so that all code needs to change to access the pointer instead. No functional change. 2021-05-19drm/amdkfd: heavy-weight flush TLB after unmapPhilip Yang
Need do a heavy-weight TLB flush to make sure we have no more dirty data in the cache for the unmapped pages. Define enum TLB_FLUSH_TYPE, add flush_type parameter to amdgpu_amdkfd_flush_gpu_tlb_pasid. This reverts commit 1704ac8e439e3dcf97431e268bd64fde1874d807. After "drm/amdgpu: flush TLB if valid PDE turns into PTE" is checked in, this workaround is not needed. 2021-05-19drm/amdgpu: flush TLB if valid PDE turns into PTEPhilip Yang
Mapping huge page, 2MB aligned address with 2MB size, uses PDE0 as PTE. If previously valid PDE0, PDE0.V=1 and PDE0.P=0 turns into PTE, this requires TLB flush, otherwise page table walker will not read updated PDE0. Change page table update mapping to return table_freed flag to indicate the previously valid PDE may have turned into a PTE if page table is freed. 2021-05-19drm/amdgpu: Albebaran: MTYPE_NC for coarse-grain remote memoryFelix Kuehling
MTYPE UC was used for a specific use case that ended up not being implemented. Use NC for better performance for coarse-grained memory where cache coherence during shader execution is not required.
