9 daysdmaengine: nbpfaxi: Fix memory corruption in probe()Dan Carpenter
commit 188c6ba1dd925849c5d94885c8bbdeb0b3dcf510 upstream. The nbpf->chan[] array is allocated earlier in the nbpf_probe() function and it has "num_channels" elements. These three loops iterate one element farther than they should and corrupt memory. The changes to the second loop are more involved. In this case, we're copying data from the irqbuf[] array into the nbpf->chan[] array. If the data in irqbuf[i] is the error IRQ then we skip it, so the iterators are not in sync. I added a check to ensure that we don't go beyond the end of the irqbuf[] array. I'm pretty sure this can't happen, but it seemed harmless to add a check. On the other hand, after the loop has ended there is a check to ensure that the "chan" iterator is where we expect it to be. In the original code we went one element beyond the end of the array so the iterator wasn't in the correct place and it would always return -EINVAL. However, now it will always be in the correct place. I deleted the check since we know the result. before using [ Upstream commit 17502e7d7b7113346296f6758324798d536c31fd ] Running IDXD workloads in a container with the /dev directory mounted can trigger a call trace or even a kernel panic when the parent process of the container is terminated. This issue occurs because, under certain configurations, Docker does not properly propagate the mount replica back to the original mount point. In this case, when the user driver detaches, the WQ is destroyed but it still calls destroy_workqueue() attempting to completes all pending work. It's necessary to check wq->wq and skip the drain if it no longer exists. [ Upstream commit 97994333de2b8062d2df4e6ce0dc65c2dc0f40dc ] Fix Smatch-detected issue: drivers/dma/idxd/cdev.c:321 idxd_cdev_open() error: uninitialized symbol 'sva'. 'sva' pointer may be used uninitialized in error handling paths. Specifically, if PASID support is enabled and iommu_sva_bind_device() returns an error, the code jumps to the cleanup label and attempts to call iommu_sva_unbind_device(sva) without ensuring that sva was successfully assigned. This triggers a Smatch warning about an uninitialized symbol. Initialize sva to NULL at declaration and add a check using IS_ERR_OR_NULL() before unbinding the device. This ensures the function does not use an invalid or uninitialized pointer during cleanup. interrupted" commit df180e65305f8c1e020d54bfc2132349fd693de1 upstream. Several issues with this change: * The analysis is flawed and it's unclear what problem is being fixed. There is no difference between wait_event_freezable_timeout() and wait_event_timeout() with respect to device interrupts. And of course "the interrupt notifying the finish of an operation happens during wait_event_freezable_timeout()" -- that's how it's supposed to work. * The link at the "Closes:" tag appears to be an unrelated use-after-free in idxd. * It introduces a regression: dmatest threads are meant to be freezable and this change breaks that. [ Upstream commit e87ca16e99118ab4e130a41bdf12abbf6a87656c ] Change the "wait for operation finish" logic to take interrupts into account. When using dmatest with idxd DMA engine, it's possible that during longer tests, the interrupt notifying the finish of an operation happens during wait_event_freezable_timeout(), which causes dmatest to cleanup all the resources, some of which might still be in use. This fix ensures that the wait logic correctly handles interrupts, preventing premature cleanup of resources. 2025-01-02dmaengine: dw: Select only supported masters for ACPI devicesAndy Shevchenko
commit f0e870a0e9c5521f2952ea9f3ea9d3d122631a89 upstream. The recently submitted fix-commit revealed a problem in the iDMA 32-bit platform code. Even though the controller supported only a single master the dw_dma_acpi_filter() method hard-coded two master interfaces with IDs 0 and 1. As a result the sanity check implemented in the commit b336268dde75 ("dmaengine: dw: Add peripheral bus width verification") got incorrect interface data width and thus prevented the client drivers from configuring the DMA-channel with the EINVAL error returned. E.g., the next error was printed for the PXA2xx SPI controller driver trying to configure the requested channels: > [ 164.525604] pxa2xx_spi_pci 0000:00:07.1: DMA slave config failed > [ 164.536105] pxa2xx_spi_pci 0000:00:07.1: failed to get DMA TX descriptor > [ 164.543213] spidev spi-SPT0001:00: SPI transfer failed: -16 The problem would have been spotted much earlier if the iDMA 32-bit controller supported more than one master interfaces. But since it supports just a single master and the iDMA 32-bit specific code just ignores the master IDs in the CTLLO preparation method, the issue has been gone unnoticed so far. Fix the problem by specifying the default master ID for both memory and peripheral devices in the driver data. Thus the issue noticed for the iDMA 32-bit controllers will be eliminated and the ACPI-probed DW DMA controllers will be configured with the correct master ID by default. 2024-10-14dmaengine: ti: k3-udma: Set EOP for all TRs in cyclic BCDMA transferJai Luthra
When receiving data in cyclic mode from PDMA peripherals, where reload count is set to infinite, any TR in the set can potentially be the last one of the overall transfer. In such cases, the EOP flag needs to be set in each TR and PDMA's Static TR "Z" parameter should be set, matching the size of the TR. This is required for the teardown to function properly and cleanup the internal state memory. This only affects platforms using BCDMA and not those using UDMA-P, which could set EOP flag in the teardown TR automatically. Similarly when transmitting data in cyclic mode to PDMA peripherals, the EOP flag needs to be set to get the teardown completion signal correctly. For uretprobes it's a bit more modest with bump from 2.4 M/s to 5 M/s. For SRCU vs RCU Tasks Trace, peak throughput for uprobes increases further from 8 M/s to 10.3 M/s (+28%!), and for uretprobes from 5.3 M/s to 5.8 M/s (+11%), as we have more work to do on uretprobes side. Even single-thread (no contention) performance is slightly better: 3.276 M/s to 3.396 M/s (+3.5%) for uprobes, and 2.055 M/s to 2.174 M/s (+5.8%) for uretprobes."
