2021-08-18libata: cleanup NCQ priority handlingDamien Le Moal
The ata device flag ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO indicates if a device supports the NCQ Priority feature while the ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO_ENABLE device flag indicates if the feature is enabled. Enabling NCQ priority use is controlled by the user through the device sysfs attribute ncq_prio_enable. As a result, the ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO flag should not be cleared when ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO_ENABLE is not set as the device still supports the feature even after the user disables it. This leads to the following cleanups: - In ata_build_rw_tf(), set a command high priority bit based on the ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO_ENABLE flag, not on the ATA_DFLAG_NCQ flag. That is, set a command high priority only if the user enabled NCQ priority use. - In ata_dev_config_ncq_prio(), ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO should not be cleared if ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO_ENABLE is not set. If the device does not support NCQ priority, both ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO and ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO_ENABLE must be cleared. With the above ata_dev_config_ncq_prio() change, ATA_DFLAG_NCQ_PRIO flag is set on device scan and revalidation. There is no need to trigger a device revalidation in ata_ncq_prio_enable_store() when the user enables the use of NCQ priority. Remove the revalidation code from that funciton to simplify it. Also change the return value from -EIO to -EINVAL when a user tries to enable NCQ priority for a device that does not support this feature. While at it, also simplify ata_ncq_prio_enable_show(). Overall, there is no functional change introduced by this patch. 2021-08-18libata: cleanup ata_dev_configure()Damien Le Moal
Introduce the helper functions ata_dev_config_lba() and ata_dev_config_chs() to configure the addressing capabilities of a device. To control message printing in these new helpers, as well as in ata_dev_configure() and in ata_hpa_resize(), add the helper function ata_dev_print_info() to avoid open coding for the eh context ATA_EHI_PRINTINFO flag in multiple functions. 2021-08-18libata: cleanup device sleep capability detectionDamien Le Moal
Move the code to retrieve the device sleep capability and timings out of ata_dev_configure() into the helper function ata_dev_config_devslp(). While at it, mark the device as supporting the device sleep capability only if the sata settings page was retrieved successfully to ensure that the timing information is correctly initialized. 2021-08-18libata: simplify ata_scsi_rbuf_fill()Damien Le Moal
Sparse complains about context imbalance in ata_scsi_rbuf_get() and ata_scsi_rbuf_put() due to these functions respectively only taking and releasing the ata_scsi_rbuf_lock spinlock. Since these functions are only called from ata_scsi_rbuf_fill() with ata_scsi_rbuf_get() being called with a copy_in argument always false, the code can be simplified and ata_scsi_rbuf_{get|put} removed. This change both simplifies the code and fixes the sparse warning. 2021-08-18libata: fix ata_host_start()Damien Le Moal
The loop on entry of ata_host_start() may not initialize host->ops to a non NULL value. The test on the host_stop field of host->ops must then be preceded by a check that host->ops is not NULL. 2021-08-04pata: ixp4xx: Rewrite to use device treeLinus Walleij
This rewrites the IXP4xx CF (IDE) libata driver to use the device tree exclusively to look up its resources: - Probe exclusively from the device tree and look up all resources from there. - Allocate a local state container with devres and pass this around in .private_data. - Initialize with struct ata_port_info. - Use the .set_piomode() callback instead of the much wider .set_mode(), we only support PIO after all. - Bump driver version number from 0.2 to 1.0 to reflect this wider change. - Get a handle on the expansion bus syscon regmap to alter the timings on the chip select. - Put in the more elaborate timing adjustment code for PIO0 to PIO4 in 8 and 16bit mode from the downstream OpenWrt patch. The board file initialization path and platform data include is dropped because the board files will be deleted at the same time as this patch is merged. The platform data file is not deleted right now so as not to conflict with the removal of board files. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>

2021-06-16ARM/ixp4xx: Make NEED_MACH_IO_H optionalLinus Walleij
In order to create a proper PCI driver for the IXP4xx we need to make the old PCI driver and its reliance on <mach/io.h> optional. Create a new Kconfig symbol for the legacy PCI driver IXP4XX_PCI_LEGACY and only activate NEED_MACH_IO_H for this driver. A few files need to be adjusted to explicitly include the <mach/hardware.h> and <mach/cpu.h> headers that they previously obtained implicitly using <linux/io.h> that would include <mach/io.h> and in turn include these two headers. This breaks our reliance on the old PCI and indirect PCI support so we can reimplement a proper purely DT-based driver in the PCI subsystem. 2021-06-14ata: ahci_sunxi: Disable DIPMTimo Sigurdsson
DIPM is unsupported or broken on sunxi. Trying to enable the power management policy med_power_with_dipm on an Allwinner A20 SoC based board leads to immediate I/O errors and the attached SATA disk disappears from the /dev filesystem. A reset (power cycle) is required to make the SATA controller or disk work again. The A10 and A20 SoC data sheets and manuals don't mention DIPM at all [1], so it's fair to assume that it's simply not supported. But even if it was, it should be considered broken and best be disabled in the ahci_sunxi driver. 2021-06-10m68k/q40: Replace q40ide driver with pata_falcon and falconideFinn Thain
This allows m68k q40 systems to switch from the deprecated IDE subsystem to libata. Enhance the byte-swapping falconide and pata_falcon platform drivers to accept an irq resource, for use on q40. Atari ST-DMA IRQ arrangements seem to co-exist with q40 IRQ arrangements without too much mess. The new IO resources were added solely for the purpose of making request_region() reservations identical to those made by q40ide: these regions aren't used for actual IO. 2021-05-31scsi: core: Drop obsolete Linux-specific SCSI status codesHannes Reinecke
Originally the SCSI subsystem has been using 'special' SCSI status codes, which were the SAM-specified ones but shifted by 1. As most drivers have now been modified to use the SAM-specified ones, having two nearly identical sets of definitions only causes confusion. The Linux-specifed SCSI status codes have been marked obsolete for several years so drop them and use the SAM-specified status codes throughout. The output of the following command has been inspected to verify that no out-of-range values are assigned to a variable of type enum scsi_disposition: KCFLAGS=-Wassign-enum make CC=clang W=1 drivers/scsi/ Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210415220826.29438-6-bvanassche@acm.org Cc: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Cc: Johannes Thumshirn <johannes.thumshirn@wdc.com> Cc: Hannes Reinecke <hare@suse.de> Cc: Daniel Wagner <dwagner@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Bart Van Assche <bvanassche@acm.org> Signed-off-by: Martin K. 2021-04-11pata_ipx4xx_cf: Fix unsigned comparison with less than zeroJunlin Yang
The return from the call to platform_get_irq() is int, it can be a negative error code, however this is being assigned to an unsigned int variable 'irq', so making 'irq' an int, and change the position to keep the code format. ./drivers/ata/pata_ixp4xx_cf.c:168:5-8: WARNING: Unsigned expression compared with zero: irq > 0 Signed-off-by: Junlin Yang <yangjunlin@yulong.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210409135426.1773-1-angkery@163.com Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <axboe@kernel.dk>
