2022-07-15Merge tag 'asoc-v5.20' of ↵Takashi Iwai
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-next ASoC: Updates for v5.20 This is a big release thus far and there will probably be more changes to come, it's a combination of a larger than usual crop of new drivers and some subsysetm wide cleanups from Charles rather than anything structural. The SOF and Intel DSP code both also continue to be very actively developed. - Restructing of the set_fmt() callbacks to be specified in terms of the device rather than with semantics depending on if the device is supposed to be a CODEC or SoC, making things clearer in situations like CODEC to CODEC links. - Clean up of the way we flag which DAI naming scheme we use to reflect the progress that's been made modernising things. - Merge of more of the Intel AVS driver stack, including some board integrations. - New version 4 mechanism for communication with SOF DSPs. - Suppoort for dynamically selecting the PLL to use at runtime on i.MX platforms. - Improvements for CODEC to CODEC support in the generic cards. - Support for AMD Jadeite and various machines, Intel MetorLake DSPs, Mediatek MT8186 DSPs and MT6366, nVidia Tegra MDDRC, OPE and PEQ, NXP TFA9890, Qualcomm SDM845, WCD9335 and WAS883x, and Texas Instruments TAS2780.

2022-07-06Add support of two Audio PLL sourceMark Brown
Merge series from Shengjiu Wang <shengjiu.wang@nxp.com>: i.MX8MQ/MN/MM/MP platforms typically have 2 AUDIO PLLs being configured to handle 8kHz and 11kHz series audio rates. The patches implement the functionality to select at runtime the appropriate AUDIO PLL for root clock, if there is no two PLL registered, then no action taken.

2022-06-10netfs: Rename the netfs_io_request cleanup op and give it an op pointerDavid Howells
The netfs_io_request cleanup op is now always in a position to be given a pointer to a netfs_io_request struct, so this can be passed in instead of the mapping and private data arguments (both of which are included in the struct). So rename the ->cleanup op to ->free_request (to match ->init_request) and pass in the I/O pointer. 2022-06-10netfs: Further cleanups after struct netfs_inode wrapper introducedLinus Torvalds
Change the signature of netfs helper functions to take a struct netfs_inode pointer rather than a struct inode pointer where appropriate, thereby relieving the need for the network filesystem to convert its internal inode format down to the VFS inode only for netfslib to bounce it back up. For type safety, it's better not to do that (and it's less typing too). Give netfs_write_begin() an extra argument to pass in a pointer to the netfs_inode struct rather than deriving it internally from the file pointer. Note that the ->write_begin() and ->write_end() ops are intended to be replaced in the future by netfslib code that manages this without the need to call in twice for each page. netfs_readpage() and similar are intended to be pointed at directly by the address_space_operations table, so must stick to the signature dictated by the function pointers there. 2022-06-10dt-bindings: display: arm, malidp: remove bogus RQOS propertyAndre Przywara
As Liviu pointed out, the arm,malidp-arqos-high-level property mentioned in the original .txt binding was a mistake, and arm,malidp-arqos-value needs to take its place. The binding commit ce6eb0253cba ("dt/bindings: display: Add optional property node define for Mali DP500") mentions the right name in the commit message, but has the wrong name in the diff. Commit d298e6a27a81 ("drm/arm/mali-dp: Add display QoS interface configuration for Mali DP500") uses the property in the driver, but uses the shorter name. Remove the wrong property from the binding, and use the proper name in the example. The actual property was already documented properly. 2022-06-09netfs: Fix gcc-12 warning by embedding vfs inode in netfs_i_contextDavid Howells
While randstruct was satisfied with using an open-coded "void *" offset cast for the netfs_i_context <-> inode casting, __builtin_object_size() as used by FORTIFY_SOURCE was not as easily fooled. This was causing the following complaint[1] from gcc v12: In file included from include/linux/string.h:253, from include/linux/ceph/ceph_debug.h:7, from fs/ceph/inode.c:2: In function 'fortify_memset_chk', inlined from 'netfs_i_context_init' at include/linux/netfs.h:326:2, inlined from 'ceph_alloc_inode' at fs/ceph/inode.c:463:2: include/linux/fortify-string.h:242:25: warning: call to '__write_overflow_field' declared with attribute warning: detected write beyond size of field (1st parameter); maybe use struct_group()? [-Wattribute-warning] 242 | __write_overflow_field(p_size_field, size); | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fix this by embedding a struct inode into struct netfs_i_context (which should perhaps be renamed to struct netfs_inode). The struct inode vfs_inode fields are then removed from the 9p, afs, ceph and cifs inode structs and vfs_inode is then simply changed to "netfs.inode" in those filesystems. Further, rename netfs_i_context to netfs_inode, get rid of the netfs_inode() function that converted a netfs_i_context pointer to an inode pointer (that can now be done with &ctx->inode) and rename the netfs_i_context() function to netfs_inode() (which is now a wrapper around container_of()). Most of the changes were done with: perl -p -i -e 's/vfs_inode/netfs.inode/'g \ `git grep -l 'vfs_inode' -- fs/{9p,afs,ceph,cifs}/*.[ch]` Kees suggested doing it with a pair structure[2] and a special declarator to insert that into the network filesystem's inode wrapper[3], but I think it's cleaner to embed it - and then it doesn't matter if struct randomisation reorders things. Dave Chinner suggested using a filesystem-specific VFS_I() function in each filesystem to convert that filesystem's own inode wrapper struct into the VFS inode struct[4]. Version #2: - Fix a couple of missed name changes due to a disabled cifs option. - Rename nfs_i_context to nfs_inode - Use "netfs" instead of "nic" as the member name in per-fs inode wrapper structs. [ This also undoes commit 507160f46c55 ("netfs: gcc-12: temporarily disable '-Wattribute-warning' for now") that is no longer needed ] Fixes: bc899ee1c898 ("netfs: Add a netfs inode context") Reported-by: Jeff Layton <jlayton@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Jeff Layton <jlayton@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Xiubo Li <xiubli@redhat.com> cc: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net> cc: Eric Van Hensbergen <ericvh@gmail.com> cc: Latchesar Ionkov <lucho@ionkov.net> cc: Dominique Martinet <asmadeus@codewreck.org> cc: Christian Schoenebeck <linux_oss@crudebyte.com> cc: Marc Dionne <marc.dionne@auristor.com> cc: Ilya Dryomov <idryomov@gmail.com> cc: Steve French <smfrench@gmail.com> cc: William Kucharski <william.kucharski@oracle.com> cc: "Matthew Wilcox (Oracle)" <willy@infradead.org> cc: Dave Chinner <david@fromorbit.com> cc: linux-doc@vger.kernel.org cc: v9fs-developer@lists.sourceforge.net cc: linux-afs@lists.infradead.org cc: ceph-devel@vger.kernel.org cc: linux-cifs@vger.kernel.org cc: samba-technical@lists.samba.org cc: linux-fsdevel@vger.kernel.org cc: linux-hardening@vger.kernel.org Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/d2ad3a3d7bdd794c6efb562d2f2b655fb67756b9.camel@kernel.org/ [1] Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220517210230.864239-1-keescook@chromium.org/ [2] Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220518202212.2322058-1-keescook@chromium.org/ [3] Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220524101205.GI2306852@dread.disaster.area/ [4] Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/165296786831.3591209.12111293034669289733.stgit@warthog.procyon.org.uk/ # v1 Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/165305805651.4094995.7763502506786714216.stgit@warthog.procyon.org.uk # v2 Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2022-06-10scripts/check-local-export: avoid 'wait $!' for process substitutionMasahiro Yamada
Bash 4.4, released in 2016, supports 'wait $!' to check the exit status of a process substitution, but it seems too new. Some people using older bash versions (on CentOS 7, Ubuntu 16.04, etc.) reported an error like this: ./scripts/check-local-export: line 54: wait: pid 17328 is not a child of this shell I used the process substitution to avoid a pipeline, which executes each command in a subshell. If the while-loop is executed in the subshell context, variable changes within are lost after the subshell terminates. Fortunately, Bash 4.2, released in 2011, supports the 'lastpipe' option, which makes the last element of a pipeline run in the current shell process. Switch to the pipeline with 'lastpipe' solution, and also set 'pipefail' to catch errors from ${NM}. Add the bash requirement to Documentation/process/changes.rst. 2022-06-09ata: libata-transport: fix {dma|pio|xfer}_mode sysfs filesSergey Shtylyov
The {dma|pio}_mode sysfs files are incorrectly documented as having a list of the supported DMA/PIO transfer modes, while the corresponding fields of the *struct* ata_device hold the transfer mode IDs, not masks. To match these docs, the {dma|pio}_mode (and even xfer_mode!) sysfs files are handled by the ata_bitfield_name_match() macro which leads to reading such kind of nonsense from them: $ cat /sys/class/ata_device/dev3.0/pio_mode XFER_UDMA_7, XFER_UDMA_6, XFER_UDMA_5, XFER_UDMA_4, XFER_MW_DMA_4, XFER_PIO_6, XFER_PIO_5, XFER_PIO_4, XFER_PIO_3, XFER_PIO_2, XFER_PIO_1, XFER_PIO_0 Using the correct ata_bitfield_name_search() macro fixes that: $ cat /sys/class/ata_device/dev3.0/pio_mode XFER_PIO_4 While fixing the file documentation, somewhat reword the {dma|pio}_mode file doc and add a note about being mostly useful for PATA devices to the xfer_mode file doc... 2022-06-07dt-bindings: Drop more redundant 'maxItems/minItems' in if/then schemasRob Herring
Another round from new cases in 5.19-rc of removing redundant minItems/maxItems when 'items' list is specified. This time it is in if/then schemas as the meta-schema was failing to check this case. If a property has an 'items' list, then a 'minItems' or 'maxItems' with the same size as the list is redundant and can be dropped. Note that is DT schema specific behavior and not standard json-schema behavior. The tooling will fixup the final schema adding any unspecified minItems/maxItems. 2022-06-07OPE support on Tegra210 and laterMark Brown
Merge series from Sameer Pujar <spujar@nvidia.com>: This series adds support for Output Prcoessing Module (OPE) module on Tegra210 and later generations of SoCs. OPE is a client of AHUB and it has sub blocks of PEQ (Parametric Equalizer) and MBDRC (Multi Band Dynamic Range Compressor) for data processing. An ASoC component is registered for OPE, which includes PEQ and MBDRC functions as well. This can be plugged in audio path using ALSA mixer controls. The series adds necessary binding documentaion, driver and DT binding patches to enable OPE module on Jetson platforms.
