2020-08-13mm: memcontrol: fix warning when allocating the root cgroupJohannes Weiner
Commit 3e38e0aaca9e ("mm: memcg: charge memcg percpu memory to the parent cgroup") adds memory tracking to the memcg kernel structures themselves to make cgroups liable for the memory they are consuming through the allocation of child groups (which can be significant). This code is a bit awkward as it's spread out through several functions: The outermost function does memalloc_use_memcg(parent) to set up current->active_memcg, which designates which cgroup to charge, and the inner functions pass GFP_ACCOUNT to request charging for specific allocations. To make sure this dependency is satisfied at all times - to make sure we don't randomly charge whoever is calling the functions - the inner functions warn on !current->active_memcg. However, this triggers a false warning when the root memcg itself is allocated. No parent exists in this case, and so current->active_memcg is rightfully NULL. It's a false positive, not indicative of a bug. Delete the warnings for now, we can revisit this later. 2020-08-13task_work: only grab task signal lock when neededJens Axboe
If JOBCTL_TASK_WORK is already set on the targeted task, then we need not go through {lock,unlock}_task_sighand() to set it again and queue a signal wakeup. This is safe as we're checking it _after_ adding the new task_work with cmpxchg(). 2020-08-13drm/mcde: Enable the DSI link with displayLinus Walleij
The MCDE DSI link hardware which is modeled like a bridge in DRM, connected further to the panel bridge, creating a pipeline. We have been using the .pre_enable(), .enable(), .disable() and .post_disable() callbacks from the bridge to set this up in a chained manner: first the display controller goes online and then in successive order each bridge in the pipeline. Inside DRM it works like this: drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail() drm_atomic_helper_commit_modeset_enables() struct drm_crtc_helper_funcs .atomic_enable() struct drm_simple_display_pipe_funcs .enable() MCDE display enable call drm_atomic_bridge_chain_enable() struct drm_bridge_funcs .pre_enable() mcde_dsi_bridge_pre_enable() panel_bridge_pre_enable() struct drm_panel_funcs .prepare() struct drm_bridge_funcs .enable() mcde_dsi_bridge_enable() panel_bridge_enable() struct drm_panel_funcs .enable() A similar sequence is executed for disabling. Unfortunately this is not what the hardware needs: at a certain stage in the enablement of the display controller the DSI link needs to come up to support video mode, else something (like a FIFO flow) locks up the hardware and we never get picture. Fix this by simply leaving the pre|enable and post|disable callbacks unused, and establish two cross-calls from the display controller to bring up the DSI link at the right place in the display bring-up sequence and vice versa in the shutdown sequence. For command mode displays, it works just fine to also enable the display flow early. The only time we hold it back right now is in one-shot mode, on-demand display updates. When combined with the previous patch and some patches for the S6E63M0 display controller to support DSI mode, this gives working display on the Samsung GT-I8190 (Golden) phone. It has also been tested working on the Samsung GT-S7710 (Skomer) phone. 2020-08-13drm/mcde: Fix display pipeline restartLinus Walleij
To make sure that the MCDE is in a reasonable state during set-up, perform a reset by power cycling the block by dropping the on-chip regulator reference after probe. The display subsystem (DSS) has no dedicated reset line so dropping the EPOD regulator is the only real way of resetting it. We introduce code to enable and disable the regulator in the display enable/disable callbacks. We move the generic MCDE setup such as muxing of DPI signals and masking of interrupts to the display handling. When we drop the power to the whole display subsystem, not only MCDE but also the DSI links lose their state. Therefore we move the DSI block reset and hardware initialization code to the mcde_dsi_bridge_pre_enable() callback so this happens every time we start up the bridge, as we may have lost the power. We move the final disablement of the interrupts and clocks to the mcde_dsi_bridge_post_disable() callback rather than have it in the mcde_dsi_bridge_disable() callback, as some control messages may still be sent over the DSI host after the bridge has been shut down. This (together with a patch for the corresponding panel) makes the Samsung GT-S7710 successfully disable and re-enable its display, cutting all power while disabled and re-initializing the hardware when coming back up. 2020-08-13drm/mcde: Improve pixel fetcher FIFO depth settingLinus Walleij
The pixel fetcher FIFO depth was just hardcoded to 48 which works fine as long as the framebuffer is 32BPP and the DSI output is RGB888. We will need more elaborate handling for some buffer formats and displays, so start to improve this function by setting reasonable defaults for 32, 24 and 16 BPP framebuffers. 2020-08-13drm/mcde: Fix display data flow controlLinus Walleij
Revamp the way that the flow of data to the display is defined. I realized that the hardware supports something like 5 different modes of flow: oneshot, command with TE IRQ, command with BTA (bus turn around) and TE IRQ, video with TE IRQ and video without TE IRQ instead synchronizing to the output of the MCDE DSI formatter. Like before the selection of the type of flow is done from the DSI driver when we attach it to the MCDE and we get to know what the display wants. The new video mode synchronization method from the MCDE DSI formatter is used on some upstream devices such as Golden. This is the new default for video mode: stateless panels do not as a rule generate TE IRQs. Another semantic change is that we stop sending a TE request before every command when sending data to a display in command mode: this should only be explicitly requested when using BTA, according to the vendor driver. This has been tested and works fine with the command mode displays I have. (All that are supported upstream.) 2020-08-13perf bench numa: Use numa_node_to_cpus() to bind tasks to nodesAlexander Gordeev
It is currently assumed that each node contains at most nr_cpus/nr_nodes CPUs and nodes' CPU ranges do not overlap. That assumption is generally incorrect as there are archs where a CPU number does not depend on to its node number. This update removes the described assumption by simply calling numa_node_to_cpus() interface and using the returned mask for binding CPUs to nodes. Also, variable types and names made consistent in functions using cpumask. For memcpy, the source pages are memset to zero only when --cycles is used. This leads to wildly different results with or without --cycles, since all sources pages are likely to be mapped to the same zero page without explicit writes. Commit fbd705a0c618 ("sched: Introduce the 'trace_sched_waking' tracepoint") added sched_waking tracepoint which should be preferred over sched_wakeup when analyzing scheduling delays. Update 'perf sched record' to collect sched_waking events if it exists and fallback to sched_wakeup if it does not. Similarly, update timehist command to skip sched_wakeup events if the session includes sched_waking (ie., sched_waking is preferred over sched_wakeup). 2020-08-13x86/alternatives: Acquire pte lock with interrupts enabledSebastian Andrzej Siewior
pte lock is never acquired in-IRQ context so it does not require interrupts to be disabled. The lock is a regular spinlock which cannot be acquired with interrupts disabled on RT. RT complains about pte_lock() in __text_poke() because it's invoked after disabling interrupts. __text_poke() has to disable interrupts as use_temporary_mm() expects interrupts to be off because it invokes switch_mm_irqs_off() and uses per-CPU (current active mm) data. Move the PTE lock handling outside the interrupt disabled region. 2020-08-13xen: Sync up with the canonical protocol definition in XenOleksandr Andrushchenko
This is the sync up with the canonical definition of the display protocol in Xen. 1. Add protocol version as an integer Version string, which is in fact an integer, is hard to handle in the code that supports different protocol versions. To simplify that also add the version as an integer. 2. Pass buffer offset with XENDISPL_OP_DBUF_CREATE There are cases when display data buffer is created with non-zero offset to the data start. Handle such cases and provide that offset while creating a display buffer. 3. Add XENDISPL_OP_GET_EDID command Add an optional request for reading Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) structure which allows better configuration of the display connectors over the configuration set in XenStore. With this change connectors may have multiple resolutions defined with respect to detailed timing definitions and additional properties normally provided by displays. If this request is not supported by the backend then visible area is defined by the relevant XenStore's "resolution" property. If backend provides extended display identification data (EDID) with XENDISPL_OP_GET_EDID request then EDID values must take precedence over the resolutions defined in XenStore. 4. 2020-08-13crypto: algif_aead - fix uninitialized ctx->initOndrej Mosnacek
In skcipher_accept_parent_nokey() the whole af_alg_ctx structure is cleared by memset() after allocation, so add such memset() also to aead_accept_parent_nokey() so that the new "init" field is also initialized to zero. Without that the initial ctx->init checks might randomly return true and cause errors. While there, also remove the redundant zero assignments in both functions. Found via libkcapi testsuite. 2020-08-13mfd: syscon: Use a unique name with regmap_configSuman Anna
The DT node full name is currently being used in regmap_config which in turn is used to create the regmap debugfs directories. This name however is not guaranteed to be unique and the regmap debugfs registration can fail in the cases where the syscon nodes have the same unit-address but are present in different DT node hierarchies. Replace this logic using the syscon reg resource address instead (inspired from logic used while creating platform devices) to ensure a unique name is given for each syscon. 2020-08-13mfd: madera: Improve handling of regulator unbindingCharles Keepax
The current unbinding process for Madera has some issues. The trouble is runtime PM is disabled as the first step of the process, but some of the drivers release IRQs causing regmap IRQ to issue a runtime get which fails. To allow runtime PM to remain enabled during mfd_remove_devices, the DCVDD regulator must remain available. In the case of external DCVDD's this is simple, the regulator can simply be disabled/put after the call to mfd_remove_devices. However, in the case of an internally supplied DCVDD the regulator needs to be released after the other MFD children depending on it. Use the new MFD mfd_remove_devices_late functionality to split the DCVDD regulator off from the other drivers. Under some circumstances it is useful to remove only a subset of the child devices. For example if some additional clean up is required between removal of certain child devices. 2020-08-13mfd: da9063: Fix revision handling to correctly select reg tablesAdam Thomson
The current implementation performs checking in the i2c_probe() function of the variant_code but does this immediately after the containing struct has been initialised as all zero. This means the check for variant code will always default to using the BB tables and will never select AD. The variant code is subsequently set by device_init() and later used by the RTC so really it's a little fortunate this mismatch works. This update adds raw I2C read access functionality to read the chip and variant/revision information (common to all revisions) so that it can subsequently correctly choose the proper regmap tables for real initialisation.
