2021-08-18batman-adv: bcast: remove remaining skb-copy callsLinus Lüssing
We currently have two code paths for broadcast packets: A) self-generated, via batadv_interface_tx()-> batadv_send_bcast_packet(). B) received/forwarded, via batadv_recv_bcast_packet()-> batadv_forw_bcast_packet(). For A), self-generated broadcast packets: The only modifications to the skb data is the ethernet header which is added/pushed to the skb in batadv_send_broadcast_skb()->batadv_send_skb_packet(). However before doing so, batadv_skb_head_push() is called which calls skb_cow_head() to unshare the space for the to be pushed ethernet header. So for this case, it is safe to use skb clones. For B), received/forwarded packets: The same applies as in A) for the to be forwarded packets. Only the ethernet header is added. However after (queueing for) forwarding the packet in batadv_recv_bcast_packet()->batadv_forw_bcast_packet(), a packet is additionally decapsulated and is sent up the stack through batadv_recv_bcast_packet()->batadv_interface_rx(). Protocols higher up the stack are already required to check if the packet is shared and create a copy for further modifications. When the next (protocol) layer works correctly, it cannot happen that it tries to operate on the data behind the skb clone which is still queued up for forwarding. 2021-08-18net: asix: fix uninit value bugsPavel Skripkin
Syzbot reported uninit-value in asix_mdio_read(). The problem was in missing error handling. asix_read_cmd() should initialize passed stack variable smsr, but it can fail in some cases. Then while condidition checks possibly uninit smsr variable. Since smsr is uninitialized stack variable, driver can misbehave, because smsr will be random in case of asix_read_cmd() failure. Fix it by adding error handling and just continue the loop instead of checking uninit value. Added helper function for checking Host_En bit, since wrong loop was used in 4 functions and there is no need in copy-pasting code parts. 2021-08-18net-memcg: pass in gfp_t mask to mem_cgroup_charge_skmem()Wei Wang
Add gfp_t mask as an input parameter to mem_cgroup_charge_skmem(), to give more control to the networking stack and enable it to change memcg charging behavior. In the future, the networking stack may decide to avoid oom-kills when fallbacks are more appropriate. One behavior change in mem_cgroup_charge_skmem() by this patch is to avoid force charging by default and let the caller decide when and if force charging is needed through the presence or absence of __GFP_NOFAIL. fq qdisc requires tstamp to be cleared in the forwarding path. Now ovs doesn't clear skb->tstamp. We encountered a problem with linux version 5.4.56 and ovs version 2.14.1, and packets failed to dequeue from qdisc when fq qdisc was attached to ovs port. 2021-08-18octeontx2-pf: Allow VLAN priority also in ntuple filtersSubbaraya Sundeep
VLAN TCI is a 16 bit field which includes Priority(3 bits), CFI(1 bit) and VID(12 bits). Currently ntuple filters support installing rules to steer packets based on VID only. This patch extends that support such that filters can be installed for entire VLAN TCI. 2021-08-18net: mdio-mux: Handle -EPROBE_DEFER correctlySaravana Kannan
When registering mdiobus children, if we get an -EPROBE_DEFER, we shouldn't ignore it and continue registering the rest of the mdiobus children. This would permanently prevent the deferring child mdiobus from working instead of reattempting it in the future. So, if a child mdiobus needs to be reattempted in the future, defer the entire mdio-mux initialization. This fixes the issue where PHYs sitting under the mdio-mux aren't initialized correctly if the PHY's interrupt controller is not yet ready when the mdio-mux is being probed. 2021-08-18net: dsa: tag_sja1105: be dsa_loop-safeVladimir Oltean
Add support for tag_sja1105 running on non-sja1105 DSA ports, by making sure that every time we dereference dp->priv, we check the switch's dsa_switch_ops (otherwise we access a struct sja1105_port structure that is in fact something else). This adds an unconditional build-time dependency between sja1105 being built as module => tag_sja1105 must also be built as module. This was there only for PTP before. Some sane defaults must also take place when not running on sja1105 hardware. These are: - sja1105_xmit_tpid: the sja1105 driver uses different VLAN protocols depending on VLAN awareness and switch revision (when an encapsulated VLAN must be sent). Default to 0x8100. - sja1105_rcv_meta_state_machine: this aggregates PTP frames with their metadata timestamp frames. When running on non-sja1105 hardware, don't do that and accept all frames unmodified. - sja1105_defer_xmit: calls sja1105_port_deferred_xmit in sja1105_main.c which writes a management route over SPI. 2021-08-18net: dsa: sja1105: fix use-after-free after calling of_find_compatible_node, ↵Vladimir Oltean
or worse It seems that of_find_compatible_node has a weird calling convention in which it calls of_node_put() on the "from" node argument, instead of leaving that up to the caller. This comes from the fact that of_find_compatible_node with a non-NULL "from" argument it only supposed to be used as the iterator function of for_each_compatible_node(). OF iterator functions call of_node_get on the next OF node and of_node_put() on the previous one. When of_find_compatible_node calls of_node_put, it actually never expects the refcount to drop to zero, because the call is done under the atomic devtree_lock context, and when the refcount drops to zero it triggers a kobject and a sysfs file deletion, which assume blocking context. So any driver call to of_find_compatible_node is probably buggy because an unexpected of_node_put() takes place. What should be done is to use the of_get_compatible_child() function. When adding support for using the skb->hash value as the flow hash in CAKE, I accidentally introduced a logic error that broke the host-only isolation modes of CAKE (srchost and dsthost keywords). Specifically, the flow_hash variable should stay initialised to 0 in cake_hash() in pure host-based hashing mode. Add a check for this before using the skb->hash value as flow_hash. As each peer advertises available endpoints with the ADD_ADDR MPTCP option, the recipient of those advertisements must decide which subflows to create from the known local and remote interfaces that are available for use by MPTCP. The existing in-kernel path manager will create one additional subflow when an ADD_ADDR is received, or a local address is newly configured for MPTCP use. The maximum number of subflows has a configurable limit. This patch set adds a MPTCP_PM_ADDR_FLAG_FULLMESH flag to the MPTCP netlink API that enables subflows to be created more aggressively. When an ADD_ADDR is received from a peer, new subflows are created between that address/port and all local addresses configured for MPTCP. Similarly, when a new local address is newly configured for use by MPTCP, new subflows are created between that local address and all known remote addresses for that MPTCP connection. The configurable limit on the number of subflows still applies. If the new flag is not used the path manager behavior is unchanged. Patch 1 adds a helper function and refactors another function to prepare for the rest of the patch series. Patches 2 and 3 add two mesh connection capabilities: initiating subflows based on added local addresses, or reacting to incoming advertisements. This patch added and managed a new per endpoint flag, named MPTCP_PM_ADDR_FLAG_FULLMESH. In mptcp_pm_create_subflow_or_signal_addr(), if such flag is set, instead of: remote_address((struct sock_common *)sk, &remote); fill a temporary allocated array of all known remote address. After releaseing the pm lock loop on such array and create a subflow for each remote address from the given local. Note that the we could still use an array even for non 'fullmesh' endpoint: with a single entry corresponding to the primary MPC subflow remote address. This is useful when a machine crashes before boot where the trace events can not be retrieved by the in kernel ring buffer. But it can be "dangerous" because trace events can be located in high frequency locations such as interrupts and the scheduler, where a printk can slow it down that it live locks the machine (because by the time the printk finishes, the next event is triggered). Thus tp_printk must be used with care. It was discovered that the filter logic to trace events does not apply to the tp_printk events. As follow-up to the discussion with Jakub Kicinski about iavf locking being insufficient [1] convert iavf to use mutexes instead of bitops. The locking logic is kept as is, just a drop-in replacement of enum iavf_critical_section_t with separate mutexes. The only difference is that the mutexes will be destroyed before the module is unloaded. 2021-08-17mac80211: add support for BSS color changeJohn Crispin
The color change announcement is very similar to how CSA works where we have an IE that includes a counter. When the counter hits 0, the new color is applied via an updated beacon. This patch makes the CSA counter functionality reusable, rather than implementing it again. This also allows for future reuse incase support for other counter IEs gets added. 2021-08-17selftests: net: improved IOAM testsJustin Iurman
As previously discussed with David Ahern, here is a refactored and improved version of the IOAM self-test. It is now more complete and more robust. Now, all tests are divided into three categories: OUTPUT (evaluates the IOAM processing by the sender), INPUT (evaluates the IOAM processing by the receiver) and GLOBAL (evaluates wider use cases that do not fall into the other two categories). Both OUTPUT and INPUT tests only use a two-node topology (alpha and beta), while GLOBAL tests use the entire three-node topology (alpha, beta, gamma). 2021-08-17virtio-net: use NETIF_F_GRO_HW instead of NETIF_F_LROJason Wang
Commit a02e8964eaf92 ("virtio-net: ethtool configurable LRO") maps LRO to virtio guest offloading features and allows the administrator to enable and disable those features via ethtool. This leads to several issues: - For a device that doesn't support control guest offloads, the "LRO" can't be disabled triggering WARN in dev_disable_lro() when turning off LRO or when enabling forwarding bridging etc. - For a device that supports control guest offloads, the guest offloads are disabled in cases of bridging, forwarding etc slowing down the traffic. Fix this by using NETIF_F_GRO_HW instead. Though the spec does not guarantee packets to be re-segmented as the original ones, we can add that to the spec, possibly with a flag for devices to differentiate between GRO and LRO. Further, we never advertised LRO historically before a02e8964eaf92 ("virtio-net: ethtool configurable LRO") and so bridged/forwarded configs effectively always relied on virtio receive offloads behaving like GRO - thus even if this breaks any configs it is at least not a regression.
